The house on chicken legs is believed to be a symbol of death. Some slavic tribes kept the bodies of their dead in small huts on top of staves, which is believed to be the origin of her strange home.
Baba yaga!!! She is one of my favorite lore character and enjoy the children's horror she has been in. Better yet, she at times help the good guys, she is super cunning and knows how to keep herself safe
You have a particular talent for illustrating creepy and unnerving figures. The little details like the body parts in her hair are awesome and her hands really trigger my "kill it with fire!" impulse.
Baba Yaga is one of the main "bad" (Like you say, she's not an inherently evil creature, but she is very impulsive and cruel) guys in my homebrew world - she's an exile from the Feywilde, and is basically the origin of all Dark Fey; she is a dark goddess at the edge of reality, always trying to break through and return home. She may help or hinder you, but she will certainly unnerve you.She works through pacts and deals, a bit like some of the Devils that already exist in D&D (like them, she could be chosen as a patron for a Warlock), and is a top-tier magic-user. Also, like with the hags, I absolutely love the classic 'witch' vibe, and the familiarity of their form (old woman, arms, face etc.) really bumps the utterly alien mindset they have can be used to leverage the character's sense of... fear. I like the way that they have an element of something most people know about, and through that, they allow the Players to connect to my world. This is a damn beautiful piece, man. Really moody and unsettling. Love it!Also - Atropal. ;)
If you look in Kobald Press's other book Tome of Beasts, you will find Baba Yaga's Horsemen. There are 3 variants of them and they are NOTHING to shake a fist at ether. They each sit at CR 11 and the variants each have different spells specific to them (Which they get from Baba Yaga herself) and the book states encounter hooks for them. It's all great content.
I remember listening to a podcast recently about Baba Yaga with a Russian host, and they pronounced it as Baba Yayga, besides that it’s a great video as always ☺️
Baba Yaga's house was on chicken legs with spindle heels or with goat horns, on ram's legs. Also our witches are interesting with their transport, for example Baba Yaga travels around on an iron mortar, steers it with an iron club, iron stuff or an iron pestle and sweeps the trail with the broom. Slavic witches also used the mortar as a transport, but their mortars were ordinary-wooden. Slavic mortars and pestles were as big, as the owner wanted, and people believed, that they can grind there any disease, or transform the sick animal to healthy
Love the contrast between the veil around her shoulders and her corpse like apearance and fetishes. You'll always manage to give even the most mundane looking monster a twist. Makes me really wish to see your spin on the sphinx
It's not the TECHNICAL Baba Yaga. It's another witch/hag like character SIMILAR to her, named Baba Lysaga. VERY similar in the fact that she also has a moving hut. However, her hut is on a rotting tree that can move, and not chicken legs. Though, the largest distinction in Baba Lysaga VS Baba Yaga is that Lysaga is simply too connected to Strahd lorewise. I wouldn't mind seeing a video on her later down the line (likely after this video has been more then a few months out so there isn't a Hag overload). However, I could very easily see the stat block used for Yaga over the one from Kobald Press. They would likely be similar seeing as it is Wizards of the Coast vs a 3rd party content creator. Still, hehe, I love the clacking teeth that are their own monster xD The image of Baba Yaga casting spells that require a verbal component with no teeth and just gums is VERY entertaining to me xD
Can't afford Patreon currently, so I'll just settle for merely suggesting The Inevitables. They're an interesting bunch, and the coolest things you can encounter design and lorewise imho, from being impartial judges for gods to acting as Terminators enforcing cosmic law, you do not want to get on their bad side and adds consequence to using Wish or becoming a lich.
Baba Yaga is not just in slavic folklore and has been known of in legend for hundreds of years, some modern witches invoke and worship her. She is not entirely "Imaginary" if you get what i mean. Careful.
It has been honor to be mentioned by your grace, all Slavic tribes are pleased

A house with chicken legs.
A chicken nugget house?
Slavic witches are interesting.
I’m not a chicken

Well I know who my next warlock patron will be, granny knows best!
Your artwork gets better every time. Great work. You've made Baba Yaga a truly frightening sight.
Thanks so much, Ken! That's really kind of you to say. Cheers for watching!
I like the way you made the veiny gross flesh look. As for suggestions, how about a salamander?
Probably the most horrifying creature in DND that I’ve come across
This was an amazing video. I think a nukalavee would be another interesting creature from mythology. Hope I spelled that right 😅
Oh those things are horrific; I'd love to see his take on that.
A mummy lord would be a neat draw.
There is a monster in 5th Edition from Curse of Straud that’s basically Baba Yaga, and there’s even stats for her house
Wraith or will-o’-wisp

I would love to see a video about the Azer
Got some good good Junji Ito vibes from that facial expression/details.
I heard there is a varient of this monster that wields akimbo pistols
I'd love too see Tiamat or the genie
Chain Devil would be great!
Oh.. Spookers. You should do a blue shadow dragon sometime!
Oh God, this looks so so good! I can’t wait to watch this.
I love watching the comment section getting longer and longer it’s good your growing
THe video was great- Bullete or Cloaker next
Awesome video sir, keep it up, for suggestions i say BOGGLE, QUICKLING, or LAMIA
You should've checked out her stat bloc n stuff from the Curse of Strahd supplement for 5e! Great video nevertheless :)

So good, love your vids!
Yeenoghu? :3
You should make one on the genasi
Perhaps one of the more uncommon dragon species like the Cobalt Dragon or the Mercury Dragon?
Draw a ancient black dragon
I still kinda want to see the flail snail plz
Didn't you already draw a psogalv? That's Slavic 101!
Isn’t there a off brand version in the Ravenloft adventure CoS
There could very well be! Do you have a link? I'd love to take a look!
Thanks so much for watching!
The Thesselmonster
Oooh, baba yaga
my mission is still not complete as you must do all scaled ones like Sarrukh
plz
Sorry maybe I didn't catch it, but where did you get the stats for Baba Yaga? I would love to put it in my campaign
