RAREST 1955 NOMAD IN THE WORLD (PART 2)

- This is part 2 of the rarest 1955 Nomad in the world. This actually a 1956 Chevy Handyman Wagon 150 Two Door. Because of the overwhelming response we had to do a part 2. #kilduffshiffer #bosshogtorqueconverters #tomcat #sweetpatinasauce #countskustoms #sixdegreesofjim #1956chevy #automobile #patina #1955chevy
The nomad has the chrome vert strips and the ribbed roof. Side windows slide back and forth but 150&219 role half way down.
@@ronjones1077 my 150 windows are fixed and do not roll up and down. I never seen another one like it.
A real Nomad also has Nomad in scrip on the rear tail gate over the handle
@ yep. My Dad has a beautiful 56 Nomad.
My '55 150's side windows don't roll down@@SixDegreesofJim
@ neither do mine!!! That’s cool. I wonder if that was a thing on the 150’s??? I would love to know.
Wonderfull! I need to study those cars again,....I'm old, born in 1953 and maybe it was my AMT plastic model of this car that I am remembering. I thought the roof had some parallel ribs or embossed lines in it,...( it could be a feature of another year, & model),..and I thought there was some chrome trim that was on the rear gate,...like a series of lines. The model I built was trying to be "HIP" , to Surf Boarders generation. Lookin' good!
@@Davett53 yes you are correct. The Nomads had a ton of different things. I believe it was 9 ribs indents on the roof and I want to say 7 chrome strips on the tailgates plus a different handles. The also had chrome bows on the inside of the car. My Dad has a 56 Nomads and when I have my wagon side by side they are totally different. Thanks for your comment and support of the channel. I hope you like what you saw and subscribed.
Thats A Really Nice 55 210 , Nice Color How About A Show Around On It.
@@JamesBoitano I was going to start with some videos today. So in the next few days and weeks I will be taking about that. My Dad gave me the 55 and it has a special story behind it and it all started at 15 years old and my love of 55 Chevys. Everyone thinks my wagon is my true love of cars but it’s truly that 55 2 door post!!!
Love the car. I’m from Australia. These cars are rare over here. The von the tailgate would normally mean a v8 and I think the 56 was a smaller v.
@@kirkgardiner4288 WINNER WINNER!!! Yes it has the 57 V on the tailgate!!! Thanks for watching, commenting and supporting the channel, I really appreciate it.
Stock rear gearing for '55 and '56 went like this ; 3.55s for Powerglide cars , 3.70s for stick shift cars , and 4.10s with overdrive . They changed things for '57 due to using the shorter 14 inch tires , Powerglides came with 3.36s , sticks got 3.55s , but overdrive stayed with the 4.10s .
@@bobbrinkerhoff3592 mine actually had 3:70 stock. I put the 3:36’s in. I miss spoke in the video I had it backwards. My car was an original auto car. Unless someone pulled that center section year and years ago it had 3:70 with an auto. It sure seemed like it had never been out.
@SixDegreesofJim after 67 plus years , it has gotten nearly impossible to find a tri five that hasn't been altered in some way or another , yours could have had the entire rearend swapped instead of just the center section , for reasons that have been lost to time . Or it could have happened on the assembly line due to supply issues .
@ well if I were to bet it was a dealer issue or it was a factory because it had been in the car for ever until I pulled it. We will never know.
You’re gonna miss this car pal!
A true gem!
@@haywardk8845 that’s for sure. It’s not gone yet!
Wagons have a 3 piece bumper with small bumperettes so the tailgate will open. Yours has a V on the tailgate which would indicate a V8 in the car . On the hood there was no V to indicate the 6 cylinder..
Killer Wagon !!!
Thanks for sharing this with us 🙏
You were correct but you missed it! Its has the larger V on the gate which was a 57. The 56 v8 cars had a smaller v. Thanks for your comment and support I really appreciate it!!!
Yeah couldn’t help it I subscribed, the 56 wagon is really nice , can’t wait to get a tour on the 55, I have a 55 truck, that’s what the 1406 is in we talked about on the regulator video you did, I just put a new 350 and shortened the box and frame a couple months ago, have a great Christmas 😀😀
Sounds great!!! I will be doing reviews on that 55 real real soon. Thanks for your support and comments on the channel. Do you have a channel???
are you talking about the V on the tailgate for V-8? I had a '56 sedanDelivery 235 3spd. converted to a 283 4spd M-21 back in 1966.
@@michaela.perrella6988 yes the v. The V is a larger V for 1957 the 56’s were a small v. This has a 57 V.
Jim, I'm considered a car guy in my circle of friends . That being said, I want to thank you for your videos , they are very entertaining. Now, as far as your 56 wagon goes , I think it's the V on the back that was only a V if it was a factory V-8 ? Stay safe and happy new year .
@@steveschmitt5137 thank you for the kind words. I am also a car guy 100%. Yes it’s the V. It’s the larger V from the 57 Chevy. The 56 is smaller plus my wagon came factory with a 6 banger. No v! Thanks again for your support.
@@steveschmitt5137 it's just different chrome pièces and paging same car as others
The tailgate trim is from a 57. Nice car.
@@daviddyer9242 yes the larger V is the 57. The smaller is the 56 v.
@@SixDegreesofJim That was my guess, and it was really only a guess.
It's a different color along w/the V looking a bit large, so I figured maybe the entire tailgate is a '57???
@ yep!!! Good guess. But I have a feeling you make very clear educated guesses!!! Just a feeling.
@@SixDegreesofJim Pretty much guilty of that I guess! 😁
I'm a 55 guy. My first car was a 55 210 "more door", but MAN it was clean. Of course that was 1974, the car wasn't even 20 years old yet. I painted it Corvette classic white in high school body shop class. I put a 327 and aluminum PG it that one. I later found a 210 2 door post that was just as clean, but missing a few things. The 4 door donated a few parts to that. I put another 327/ Muncie in it and after breaking the rear a couple times (in both cars), I put a 10 bolt out of a late 60s Nova under it. Never had another problem with the rear. It got a pair of Monte Carlo swivel buckets. (find a pair of THOSE now...)
All that to say, I know all of them pretty well but not all of the minute differences.
Both cars went away and it was a number of years and cars before I got the itch for another 55. That's the purple handyman I mentioned in the last episode.
@@jefscoupe32 that’s a great story. I remember those Monte Carlo swivels. They were a big deal. Very cool.
Wagons had a unique rear bumper. A buddy of mine had a 55 2 door tradesman. I had a 58 Belair 4 door hardtop. I spotted a 2 door 58 tradesman just inside a warehouse. I went back to inquire if it may be for sale but it was gone!
@@alvinjohns575 yes the bumpers are different. What’s different on mine is it has the 1957 larger V vs the 56 has the smaller v.
Nice Nomad that gets a lot of attention from auto lovers!
@@brenthagen3049 it sure did for sure. I been doing everything I can to grow the channel. Thanks for commenting and helping. Have a great new year.
Love that car 😊 and tag location is the car guy thing
Thank you for the kind words but that’s not it. The tailgate Emblem is a 1957 chevy. They 56 is a lot smaller v on the gate.
This is not a true factory Nomad it's a station wagon turned into a nomad
@@ChristianSchirmer-d5y it’s not a Nomad. If you watch the video it explains what it is and how it’s mistaken for a 55 Nomad all the time. It’s a 1956 wagon handyman 150 2 door with original paint.
i had 2 of the 210 handyman wagons, they were both projects. I sold one to help finance the other. The 6 cyl. models had the large emblem and not the chrome V.
@@dewain50 very cool. Yes it’s the V mine has a 1957 V which is a lot larger than the 56.
I agree it’s not a nomad a nomad in on the 2door hardtop style the door posts are slanted not straight
@@Larry-x1c thanks for your interaction with the channel I truly appreciate it.
here's a weird one...Pontiac had the Safari....I found one in a bone yard...that had Chevy 1/4's with a special taillight... their handyman wagon used that the Chevy 1/4 and specialized taillight.... but this was a Safari...no signs of 1/4 replacement.... so it would have been a very early Safari.... and I couldn't buy it...they are so rare but with those 1/4s and taillights...it would have been super rare...also....had power steering, brakes and seats...regret not getting it
@@55classic1 that’s wild. Too bad you were not able to pick it up. I did have a 56 Safari I sold back in 2012. They are very cool.
@@SixDegreesofJim thx... I think of the cars that slipped thru my fingers over the years and just shake my head
@ ain’t that the truth.
Again, Fabulous wagon, as I commented from last video. My guess about the tailgate is it’s from another car that was green. Also the big V not original to the 56. On next video give us specs on the suspension. It has a Great Stance. Also maybe what you know about the history of the car and how you acquired it. Looking forward to future videos on that nice 55 also. Just now subscribed.
@@Bonar-62 correct on the gate it’s the big V8. The V is from 1957. In 56 it was smaller. Plus the car was an original 6 not a V8. Thanks again for the great comment and subscribing I really appreciate it.
My 55 150 has no trim around the windshield or on the body sides , a horn button not a ring , are you sure yours isn't a 210 ? I really like the flipped front bumper ... the v on the tailgate is different , did you add it ?
@@ronaldolweiler7745 I am positive mines a 150. The 210 has the strip that goes all the way to the rear bumper.
1957 chrome vee
@ yep. The 57’s are a bigger V than the 56! Good eye thanks for the comment and support of the channel.
My thought is this on the tailgate. If it originally had a six, wouldn't it just have the now tie emblem like the sedans had . Of course I had a 57 210 2dr post with the six .
@ that’s all correct! The difference is it has not only the V but it’s a 1957 V which is larger than the 56 v.
The only thing I can think is that the chrome v on the back of the door. Martin .
It’s a larger V from a 1957 Chevy wagon. The 56 is a smaller v. Also it was a six cylinder car and they didn’t have a v which this care should have just had the emblem and no v. Thanks for watching and commenting. I hope you like my channel and subscribe. Thanks Jim.
Upside down bumper is cool daddy-o!
@@ronjones1077 thanks. It’s also a 1955 bumper. When I bought the car years ago it didn’t have a front bumper. I found this 55 Chevy bumper in an old school bus and I paid $20 bucks for it. I was standing in the garage and it just hit me see if it would work. Next thing you know it’s upside down and off to the races!!!
The rear bumper is the early style. The late style doesn't have the two guards.
@@jamesbosworth4191 I didn’t know that. I thought those were just an option?
@@SixDegreesofJim I could be wrong on that.
@ well I have no idea but what you said would not surprise me.
With a V8, shouldn't the radiator be BEHIND the bulkhead, rather than in front of it?
@@jamesbosworth4191 yes that’s correct. This was an original 6 cylinder 235cid car. When I bought it over 10 years ago it had a 283 and a 700r4 auto. Both were worn out. Not sure how long those were in the car before I bought it but it looked like awhile for sure.
