    Coming from Snooker I personally think the bridge length should be consistent on most shots and you rather adjust the length of the backswing. Only for shots that require a tap of the ball I like to adjust the bridge length. I guess whatever feels the best for anyone works the best in the end!

    Could you do a review on coin operated cue ball action as this is league play in the bars. I realize that the bar league cue ball has a metal weight within the cue ball for the magnet to return the cue ball to the kitchen side of the table and that the cue ball is heavier than the balanced three dot cue ball that you play with in your videos.
    One other comment is that I realize the bar cue ball will take more abuse from the bar patron(s) and will also damage the circumference of the cue ball.
    Thanks,
    James Dugan

    Hey sharivari you think on the 6 ball if I drew my cue ball out 2 rails with bottom left would that be to touchy of a shot because I get hook on the 8 when I hit the 6 with top in those situations

  • @joshuawesterfield6635
    @joshuawesterfield6635 2 года назад

    @Sharivari you should do a video on proper way to apply left and right spin. I've seen 2 ways. 1 is to shift your bridge hand to left or right of center, the other is stay center and shift the back of the stick to apply left or right spin

    • @jamesderrick3343

      You got me thinking now. 🤔 if I were to just move the butt of the cue, wouldn't that change my aiming line?

    • @joshuawesterfield6635
      @joshuawesterfield6635 2 года назад +1

      @@jamesderrick3343 supposedly it reduces deflection and doesn't change your aiming line by much if at all. There is a downside but can't remember what it is. Changing your bridge hand position(how I currently do it), definitely imparts alot of squirt/deflection which makes longer distance aiming much harder. Dr Dave touched on this a few years ago.
      By the way, did you know Dr. Dave really is a Doctor? Phd in Mechanical Engineering and was a professor at some Colorado college I think.

    Another way to think about bridge length is (acceleration over time/distance) the longer your bridge, the greater the acceleration using the exact same swing/ stroke. I always thought that pool had only 2 GENERAL types of strokes (not including the jump shot strokes which have 2 types) . In pocket pool we have the "break stroke" and the "pool stroke". If you change the length of the stroke, it's still a "pool stroke". In billiards (carom) there are 6 strokes, 1. Up and through 2 down and through 3. Up stroke 4. Down stroke 5. Slip stroke and finally 6. Masse' stroke. If I remember right... maybe the "punch" stroke and "drag stroke" should be included....? I'm not saying that these "billiard" strokes can't be used in pool, but they would be considered a billiard shot on a pool table, just like in billiards when a "pool stroke" is used on certain shots. Similar to shooting a straight pool shot in a game of one pocket... it's still a "straight pool shot".

    i have a little strange question for you - when the que ball is around one hand away from the cushion/board and i use open bridge, its really uncomfortable to shoot, but if i put the cue on the cushion/board, its kind of hard to execute a powerful and accurate shot, maybe because of the lifted cue. I hope you understood me :D
