How to make horchata!
Welcome to my very first video! Thank you for tuning in!
Today I will be sharing my horchata recipe so you can make it at home!
My recipe is an authentic Mexican recipe and no doubt it’s very delicious!
Ingredients:
• 4 cups of water
• 3 cups of rice (any rice is ok I used Jasmine rice)
• 1 cup of sugar
• 2 cinnamon sticks
• 1 can of lechera (condensed milk)
• 1 can of evaporated milk
• 2 tbsp of vanilla extract
• 1 gallon of milk
• cinnamon powder
• ice
• 4 cups of water
These ingredients will make for 2 gallons of horchata

This is as authentic and as top-notch as it gets, my god, even the background music and coreography. An old man taught me how to make horchata when I was a teen but I’ve forgotten. This video was a good refresher.

It does makes more sense to me to add a little bit of water and a whole gallon of milk 🥛...Other recipes add too much water.

I have a 5 gallon jug. Would I just double the recipe? Do you think it will go bad after sitting a while? I’m worried because of the milk.

Just came across your video. ... How does this keep? If you don't drink all 2 gallons in one day, do you leave on counter or refrigerate? Does it get too watery cus of the ice when left for the next day?
Simple and easy enough, I'm definitely giving it a try. Just one quick question, Do I wash the rice thoroughly, then put fresh water and keep it in the fridge overnight?

No you don’t have to wash the rice beforehand just add the water and store in the fridge either in the morning to use at dinner time or overnight whichever way works!

Overnight or at least 8 hours
How long do you let the rice, water and sticks sit in the container for?
Absolutely love your videos, so a question well 2 really lol, first one do I need to rise the rice before soaking, and if I only want to make 1 gallon can I just cut the recipe in half or will it take away from the flavor? Thank you ❤️

But you do not need to rinse out the rice before soaking it with cinnamon sticks overnight and yes you can most definitely cut the recipe in half and if you’d like it sweeter you can always add more lechera as you go! 😊
So did you have 4 cups of water in the container before you put the rice water in?
When you add the rice water do you add 4 more cups of water? This looks amazing. Making tonight.

So 4 cups of water will go in a container along with 3 cups of rice and let that sit over night or for at least 6 hours. Blend that up, then to the 2 gallon beverage container add 4 cups of water. I hope you enjoy!
