Great that you are doing a degree. In my opinion you have precisely the right experience and background to complete your degree and see success So many of the product from our Universities have no comprehension of the process of manufacture having zero practical skills. I have seen this and been frustrated by it throughout my working life.
May your Christmas be as orderly as a perfectly stacked pile of firewood, as delightful as a cup of Earl Grey, and as merry as a round of polite applause after a stirring rendition of 'God Save the Queen.' Wishing you a most spiffing and splendid holiday season, old chap!"
As a recently retired Rolls-Royce employee (Hucknall, OGV Cell) my only regret is not joining the company sooner. I had reached the level of HND before I joined RR, with a majority of my qualifications being undertaken in my own time (and cost) as my previous employer always maintained a theory that if you educate members of the workforce then they always leave for a better job. This is exactly what I did when leaving to join RR. If I’d been a bit younger I would have loved the challenge of undertaking a degree course. Good luck with the course and a happy and prosperous New Year.
Merry Christmas Mr C to you and yours, good luck with the degree, really looking forward to the 2024 progress on the Loco, hope you got your brother a new toothbrush for Xmas
All the very best for your future education. I'm sure you will excel even if you only apply half the energy you do into educating others. In fact I think you will spreed your already learnt skills into others learning with you (and possible teaching you). Been following you since Mr Pete recommended, what a man Mr. Pete is. Chris. Engineer (Petroleum). England.
Excellent stuff that Rolls are sponsoring you through a degree course. Something that must not be turned down. Having done 1/2 an OU course I can understand why you may not be posting quite as much as we would like. Have a very merry Christmas and have a very, very happy New Year.
It's nice to hear that someone who knows machining, mechanics and fabrication will be a mechanical engineer. I've seen people who don't know which end of a screwdriver goes in the hand get an engineering degree.
I hated my undergrad engineering stuff as I found differential equations and high level calculus to be rather ponderous. I loved my masters courses though as machine design was more my interest.
Merry Christmas. Best wishes for 2024, and well done on the chance for the engineering degree. Well worth doing, and will open up a whole new world of opportunities. I have not regretted the time spent doing mine, and it was instrumental to my career path. Cheers and best of luck.
That hat retreval was great. Because, I was bewildered as to why there was no hat parking at the introduction. I shure didnt see that twist comming. Happy Christmas & new Year.
Good luck with your degree, Mr Crispin - you have chosen the path that I trod; four years of one day and two nights, whilst holding down my day job ! Year three was the doldrums - we had come so far and the end still seemed to be so far away . . . . But never give up hope - You are Rolls Royce trained and you will fly it ! From your present knowledge and demeanour, I see a first ! Seasonal felicitations ! Steve A.
Absolutely brilliant videos. I always look forward to them. Whenever there is a new one, I put the kettle on and plonk myself in front of the computer, feet up on the desk. And the thing is, I always learn something from you. You are a brilliant engineer. And a brilliant teacher. Thank you for your RUclips offerings. I want to say good luck with the degree; in truth all it's going to add is backing up what you already know with some heavy duty maths. That's a good thing, though not always fun. I hope it works for you. In the context of being in parallel with your employment, I think that's an excellent mix. I wish you all the best. I hear "locomotive in 2024" but can you give us a taster of what's in store regarding the Bridgeport? That sounds really exciting too. Merry Christmas to you!
Have a great Christmas. I was writing this whilst watching the video. And my next question was going to be on the B1. But you have just answered my question 😁🎉
MrCrispin, coming from Rolls Royce engineering, why are you working on Locomotives instead of Jet Aircraft? Merry Christmas and have a terrific New Year!
Happy Christmas and NewYear Mr Crispin, thank you for the videos through the year. Hope you find the new role in academia satisfying and look forward to more interesting videos next year.🎄🎄🎉🎉🍾🍾👍👍
Merry Christmas Mr C, thanks for the engineering and music videos all of which amuse, entertain and inform. Hmmm, that might become the Mr C BSc charter. Good luck with your degree and I hope you have an excellent 2024.
Merry Christmas and Happy New from Michigan USA. You better go put your brother's toothbrush somewhere he can find it, so he can use it for the holidays. I'm very much looking forward to seeing some work getting done on the locomotive. And thank you for bringing us these videos.
Well done Mr.Crispin congratulations on your opportunity to further yourself RR must think of you very highly. I'm really looking forward to you showing more content of your Springbok locomotive build as I'm in the early stages of the same quest on the same locomotive.
Seasons greetings. Don't make the mistake I made when offered the opportunity of education way beyond my expectations and frankly squandered that chance by insisting on messing about with other projects, I think you're more sensible then myself and wish you all the best at obtaining a degree.
Great to hear about the Engineering Degree. I have one and it’s the best thing I have done. It’s a shame I didn’t do any machining, but at work I got to watch and learn from the best of them.
I've always respected RR and they are showing respect for you. Educating and promoting within the company is an excellent way to retain the good employees. The loco is a great project but less important than your education opportunity. Prioritize appropriately.
Compliments of the season to you as the saying goes and thanks for the videos this last year. I also undertook a science based degree later in life, it wasn't easy but i got a first. My money is on you doing the same. Good luck.
Good luck with the degree Crispin, although I will wager that you will be teaching the lecturers a thing or two. Good engineering isn't all about the theory, some forget this!!! Merry Christmas mate and best wishes for 24. Cheers, Jon
Happy Christmas and a happy new year Mr Crispin. I have enjoyed your videos and sense of humour for some years now. I have recently built a 5" gauge BR class 2 2-6-2 Tank loco which took me three years, pretty full on but I am enjoying steaming it and running around my local track in Brisbane Australia. I am looking forward to seeing how you finish your loco. your machining setups leave me for dead and I am surprised mine is actually running at all. So looking forward to seeing you steaming yours at your local club and taking that first run down the track. ALL THAT WORK and your on the track. Good luck for 2024 Crispy.
Thanks for sharing your expertise with inspirational and entertaining videos. When I get into a jam, I always think "What would MrCrispin do ?" Merry Chrimbo !
Thank you Mr Crispin. Exciting times ahead for you. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you. 🎉

Thank you for your service sir, I aspire to become as able as you are.
Happy Christmas Mr Crispin!! - wow reverse hat action!! I wasn’t expecting that! Thank you!
Poor Billy, I don't think that's a new toothbrush.
Compliments of the Season to you as well! Your videos always bring a smile!
Academic learning is ok but be carefull not to let it corrupt you with subversive and/or fringe ideology.
Like using the metric system ? 😆
@@colderwarlike saying compliments of the season…

Crispin, you qualify for an honorary doctorate. Only, you have more practical utility than so many academics.
