At least 2 pokemon will be used in the battles according to the preview The battles I'm ninety-nine percent sure that will happen will be Ash vs Steven and Diantha VS Iris.

Not to be rude but I don't agree with this list, they brought back Alain for a reason
There will be 2 groups, group a and b, the groups will be either organized by order in rank, so 1-4 5-8, or by evens and odds, so 1,3,5,7 and 2,4,6,8. And they fight it out, top 2 from each group go, the one with less points of each group, go against each other, who ever wins, secures 3rd, top 1 of each group fight, winner from that, stays at 1 which will probably be Leon. Ash will be in 3rd, and ash will have to fight the person who is in 2nd, he wins and takes second, then whoever was in 4th, will go against 2nd place, to secure 3rd place
