Sod buster Jr is a great knife, mine has done so much, been lost several times and found again, it’s been sharpened so many times it’s getting alittle funny lookin.
I think the synthetic might be Delrin, a trademarked thermoplastic also known as acetal resin. Centering issues are common, seems especially so on the cheaper, synthetic ones vs the bone.
Really wanting a long term review on the Rosecraft, especially because it has steel bolsters. I am not, NOT, keen on steel bolsters because of oxidation and rust. But I am willing to hear what long term use and ownership has learned from it.
Glad you are liking the RCB! Andy with RCB is doing a great job with the designs and the pricing. Great quality at great prices. Shame the Case is that off centered. I hate to say this but I’ll put my money towards a company that takes care of quality rather than quantity, even if that means supporting foreign made knives over domestic made knives.
You know, I’m starting to lean that way too with Case. I think I’m done buying them. Except a Tribal Lock, I want one of those. Do you know of any other good overseas manufacturers of traditionals? Love what RCB is doing, I’ll probably get that Swayback next
I think slip joints are cool. Like you said a simpler time. Interesting; The knife that is supposed to have the flaw looks better overall than the Case!
I didnt see any factory defect RCB for sale. You got a deal on that! My sobuster jr. Was the same but worse. Left to right blade play of 1/4 inch. Very unsafe. I returned it. Almost put me off of Case for ever. But I just recently got a couple of good ones.
@@doodysdaggers I hear yah. Roscraft has been my new favorite brand. Allways perfect centered blades and great fit and finish for less money. I hope case is listening. But i dont think they really care.
Yeah. I ended up tweaking it with pliers and got it mostly centered. I found that the blade itself was tweaked to the side. 🤷🏻♂️ My newer amber bone version was much better
The material is delrin and that’s pretty normal for a Case soddie. I have one even worse then that by a long shot. Case can be very hit and miss to the point I won’t buy one unless I see it first
Case knives used to be great but that is no longer the case. No saying what they do is bad, but don't expect GEC quality from them. I've even tried there more recent locking folders and ended up returning it because it just wasn't good, or atheist the one I got. If I'm buying a 50 dollar user I can except some qc issues as long as the tool is working and the steel is done good, at 200 plus I can't except it.
The only thing I can count on with Case knives is their consistent inability to produce quality manufactured products. ...Will never purchase a Case knife again.
👍🏼These new fangled slipjoints are really nice looking.

RC makes some awesome stuff
Damn I went back in time!!! Really like my RCBs!!!
Cool video thanks.
Subscribed! Look forward to checking out your videos. Cheers!
Right on man! 🤘🤠

I think you’re right, it’s Delrin. I prefer the bone ones but I gotta say, this Delrin has a really nice soft but grippy kinda feel

Ha, I didn't mean for the website link to happen, but it was automatic. It works though I checked it
Centering is simple. You only need a torch, vise and an 8lb hammer
Bend it back huh? Okay
Ive got some case knives, need to check centering lol
Case w/crookedly blade looks like the 2nd, not the Rose Craft.
I got one of the seconds rosecraft blades jack, apparently it has flaws. Like you i cant find anything wrong with mine.
Haha yeah same with this one. I’ll take a seconds any day! How about a seconds Shirogorov? Haha
I think slip joints are cool. Like you said a simpler time. Interesting; The knife that is supposed to have the flaw looks better overall than the Case!
It really does! Kinda sad that the USA made knife is done worse than the china made one.
I saw a trick for centering.. it did involved pliers.
I ended up bending the whole blade with pliers haha
@@doodysdaggers lol you’re familiar with the trick I see
@@DrDrewdude haha yes I guess with these traditionals you can just muscle them around 😂
Seems like the Tony Bose Cases have higher quality standards
Oh yeah? I haven’t tried those, I’ll have to check ‘em out

Yeah same here man, I think I’m done with Case. I’ve literally never had one centered. Haha
@@doodysdaggers I hear yah. Roscraft has been my new favorite brand. Allways perfect centered blades and great fit and finish for less money. I hope case is listening. But i dont think they really care.
@@BaxtersBlades nope I don’t think they do. Sadly.
The Rosecraft appears to be a much better build than the Case. I would send the sodbuster back.
Yes it is! Seems like it should be the other way around huh?
It’s a shame on the centering of that Soddy.
Yeah. I ended up tweaking it with pliers and got it mostly centered. I found that the blade itself was tweaked to the side. 🤷🏻♂️

People used bot accounts then up charge for them in the secondary markets

Okay yeah I’m learning that as I start buying a few Case’s. That Soddy was the worst ive seen so far
Was a time I'd buy a case mail order without a thought. Not anymore. New Case I buy in person. QC has taken a down turn over the years sadly.
Oh it had gotten worse? That’s what I would have guessed. That sucks.
@doodysdaggers I notice it in the details that they used to pay attention to. Little things add up.
I still buy case knives but quality is not their game unfortunately. Still pretty knives for the price.

That’s so unfortunate. I wonder what happened
