Also as someone who can't feel it before buying it, it's nice to see it in hands being played with up close. Great job with the belt knife but hardly get to see you with the utility. It would be cool to have a video of that knife alone for that reason too!
It's a good choice I have the field knive with walnut handle and edc the belt knife with sculped maple handle. As long as you keep it oiled it won't let you down.
Love your Winklers, just bought my first one! Also, your philosophy on using the knife every day rather than just collect it and look at it on the shelf is right on the money!
Very nice! I've got the belt knife and the tactical pick (walker pick). I've loved Winkler knives since the last of the Mohicans movie. I met him many years ago at Blade show. Thanks man! 👊
As far as lanyards go, you can use a straw to feed the paracord through or take the center thread out to thin it but loose some of the strength..or try other materials such as leather. Winkler makes some of the best knives and you can't go wrong with any of them.
It is 2 JULY Saturday ,and I received a sculpted maple WINKLER UTILITY CRUSHER in the mail from DLC trading it is my new EDC blade . I love it . I purchased a WINKLER belt knife in 2017 and love it , but this sculpted maple is so AWESOME. My WINKLER knives are getting used. They are grail knives that are definitely big enough for 7-Strand 550 cord to make a lanyard. Both of mine are. Thank you WINKLER knives, and WORKSHARP precision adjust!! I feel like I am in a special club with these two WINKLER knives . Sharp. AF
Beautiful knifes ! Does the mast general store still have the military/ veteran discount I’m about to pull the trigger on a winkler knife but I can’t find anything on a military/veteran discount on their website…..by the way I find your channel both interesting and informative and that is one fine collection of winkler knives you have ! …..you have sold me on them
Nice initial impressions video! Do you have a review of one, or both knives being used? I just ordered the Winkler Woodsman from TKC in Wasp Sculpted Micarta. I plan to scout carry edc mine. Thanks
My only issue with this company is the blade steel. They use 80Crv2 which is a somewhat garbage steel. Not garbage necessarily... but it's just very very basic stainless steel. It's supposed to be a tool steel but the alloy content is exceptionally low. This makes for a knife thats simple to sharpen but will need to be sharpened often due to a lack of edge retention. I don't need a "supersteel" necessarily (although for this $400 price point that would be a nice addition) however I do need something in the ballpark of CPM-154 A2 D2 cts-bd1n vg-10... they could make it out of any of these steels for about about same overhead expense as using 80crv2. Their heat treatment process is very good but I doubt these knives are over 59HRC 62-63 would be ideal..
80crv2 isn't a stainless steel it's a high carbon steel with properties similar to 1095. For a hard use knife toughness is more important than edge retention. Ease of sharpening is nice too since it's a field type blade where you may not have a wicked edge with diamond stones etc..

I am 80 years old and use my EDC and camp carry knifes everyday. Now You have made me want a Winkler

My favorite blade smith at the moment. My favorite knife of all time. Can't go wrong with a Winkler.
Winkler knives are made in Boone NC 15 minutes away from my house here in Appalachia

You have a solid authentic style, keep it real!
I have a WINKLER belt knife from 2017 and I use it about every day, and use a WORKSHARP to sharpening it and it is awesome!!
Thank you for your service my man great video beautiful tools you got there may they serve you well
Just a heads up. The craziness is here to stay. Dont put life on hold for the sniffles. Great knives and video. Thanks
Thanks man, not too many videos around on those two.

Thanks for the video Sir! Time for me to get off the fence and buy one.

You could use shock cord or 188 Kevlar. You could also use dummy cord on the handle
Would love to have one, but can’t justify throwin down that kind of cash… great vid, thanks!

Great video man. Awesome comparison. Man I love both these knives. I just bought Toor Mullet with ebony wood handle. Subscribed 👊
I have the blue ridge hunter with sculpted handles and wow!!!!!! You would be hard pressed to find a better company , imo……
Oh dear I shouldn’t have watched this, now I want to tinkle with a winkle 🤭🙄😜 dude, you sold it and I want it. 🤣
Winkler fixed blades and Chris Reeves folders all day
No videos are testing the utility you should make one doing that!

Do a review on a sd2
Get a mount for the camera..
Amen, yes life is toooo short....
What was the name of the store that gives military discount?
Mast general store, but if you order from Winkler the military discount is 25%!!!!!!!
Does the handle feel small in hand?
Shoutout from the Upstate!
It doesn't feel small but it does feel narrow compared to other bushcraft knives.
@@ussgearlocker Thanks. I’ve been debating for two weeks, but every one I’ve seen handled online looks small in hand.
What is the thickness on the utility knife 1/4 or 3/16
Did you sell your Tops Atax to start your Winkler collection?
I sure did
Mast General in Waynesville?!
Knives end up in safes because you have too many knives, knife addiction is a real thing!
That is a lot of serrations
Very good craftsmanship but with the cheapest knife coming in at almost $300 and most knives over$325 this is definitely a collectors knife
“Mama said, mama said”. Bobby Boucher from Waterboy doing this review???🤣🤣
He’s probably from the South like me. We have accents:)

Jup the steel is kinda medicore. With a Bark River you would have better steel. I'm lookin for the Aurora LT, but it's hard to get here in europe.

Not a stainless.
