  • How to replace the headlight level sensor on an Audi A4 B6, this could be viable to a few upper and lower year body styles. Very easy job to do, No VAG-COM necessary.

Hello Guys -- I changed this Leveling Sensor at $230 pop and it done absolutely nothing to change the up, down and neutral of the xenon headlights. Prior to that the Audi dealership sold me 2 brand new light assemblies at $839 each to take care of this problem and we are still getting headlights aiming at the ground? Trying to find out if I can install Halogens instead, backwards technology!

    Thanks for your video!
On my Audi A4 B8 2008 2.7TDI I had warning light pop out on my dash ''range headlight control defective'' so I went to mechanic to get this checked on computer £25 and he found this error ''sensor for vehicle front open circuit/short with power'' so Ive asked how much gone be to fix it? He told me that it will be another £102 for a part and £55 for an hour labour + VAT ended approx. £177!!! Sacre bleu!!! so I went to Audi dealer and ask them for a part number, for first they said that my Audi doesn't have front sensor?! hmmm...I knew that he doesn't have clue what he is talking about because day before I saw your video and I found this sensor on my car exactly on the same left hand side like you on your B6.......alright so when he said this then I stopped believe him and just ask him to provide me the part number + price and how much it will be to fixed this in Audi garage......he said part will cost £155 and labour £150 an hour!!! WHAT!!! My answer was only one....Thanks for that pal, I will think about it and come back to you soon...yeah of course. After all this bad experience which I had with mechanics I searched the Item on Ebay.co.uk and I found exactly what I was looking for 1T0907503A ...200Hz second hand for £30 :) so this afternoon Ive put this new/second hand part on, took me an hour to do and guess what, fixed! Dash light has gone (no computer needed) and headlights back to normal and adjusting itself, Happy days...
Much appreciated for posting your video on youtube

You can do that.. I would put it up to vag com (Ross tech) and check what error is comming up for xenon lights. There are two sensors in the audi a4 b6. One on driver side front and one driver side rear. With new headlights I would assume the sensor would be a good place to start (if you don't have access to Ross Tech or equivalent).

I have this same issue on my a4 B7.. Did it fix and get rid of the "dipped headlight" alert on your dash? Most say that you need a vag com to remove the fault..?

Why were you replacing the HL sensor? Did it cure your problem? I have a B6 with Xenon headlights. Most of the time, the headlights shake and I get intermittent "Headlight Dipped" warning where the affected headlight flashes off and then back on. The warning happens for a few seconds so there is never a record of it when my mechanic checks the faults.
I am thinking it was a bad HL sensor, but I cannot find anything definitive on the internet. It looks like an easy switch out.
    Thanks for the video!

This did fixed the problem. Hard to say if it's the issue, there are two sensors for the headlights, one driver-side front and one driver-side rear. They get messed up over time from the elements, the one I took off didn't pivot well. Run VCDS (ross-tech VAG-COM) and it will tell you where the fault is. The program is 100$ and works for b6 and below (maybe b7 I too can't remember). It pays for itself first fix. I'm sure you can get it scanned somewhere for free to. I think the fault showed up on the center display in yellow (like you're saying), but scan to make sure. Let me know if there's anything else. Cheers

That sounds like the bulb or the ballast. I had to change my bulbs a few months ago. 2008 S6

Yeah for the b6 you don't need a vag com to reset it. It did it by itself, I couldn't see it being different with b7.

Did you get a yellow light in the middle of your cluster?? Was this the culprit?

Christian Escobedo, yes it was the lcd screen that showed me the headlight error. Then I hooked it up to vag-com to make sure. Haven't had the same code yet (since video publish date).
