People in other video I saw had, no issue removing the battery the way it's supposed to be

The tab works completely fine for me;I’m unsure what issue you were having when pulling the tab

There are a couple things that made it impossible for me to remove the batteries with the tabs.
The first is that the tabs are in a position that's a bit closer to the center of the battery, which doesn't create much leverage - perhaps this was revised since my review.
The second issue is the concave battery terminal on the Quest 3 controllers which makes it difficult to remove the batteries without first compressing the spring on the negative terminal to bring the positive terminal out of the concave housing, which I talk about in this video.
You're not the first to say things work fine for you. Unfortunately, things did not work the same for me in my testing. I've used other grips with battery tabs that are closer to the positive terminal that worked fine for me, so perhaps it's simply the placement of the tab that dictates how easy it is to remove the battery. Either way, I'm glad it's working well for your controllers!

Once I open the little door after the grip is on, I have no problem pulling the battery out. It may depend on how much pressure that internal spring is putting on the battery. I guess every controller may have some slight variation, but these grips work flawlessly for me. YMMV.

Which controllers do you have? Quest 3? You saw in the video the effort I was putting in (literally shaking lol) to try and pull the tab to remove the battery without any luck. In a previous video for another product (AnnaPro) their controller grips had the same issue, and the tab actually broke as I was pulling on it so hard, but the battery remained still.
I'm sure the pressure on the spring plays a role as well, along with the concave design of the battery compartment that holds the battery in place. This design does not work with my Quest 3 controllers, unfortunately.

@@ThisKory Yep, Quest 3 controllers. Just popped the batteries out again, no issues. There seem to be so many different manufacturing variances between identical Quest 3 controllers (like the battery springs, or the annoying loose thumbstick click) that make them really difficult to manufacture 3rd party accessories for. It sucks you had that issue, because otherwise they’re a pretty decent strap grip solution, even for my big hands!

That's an unfortunate issue. Well, my review is still my review I guess, nothing I can do about it as it's due to manufacturing discrepancies from Meta. Some people will have this issue, some will not.
Perhaps the companies who created these grips could have added a larger window so we can manually pull out the battery (without the need for the pull tab), or maybe some other design to ensure the battery can be released for those with stiffer controller springs. Maybe their next design will improve on this, until then, I guess some people, like myself, are going to have issues here.

I might have to take them off to charge the controllers. I'm thinking of buying a charging dock, but I don't know which ones support them, or if any do, since they have rubber on the battery. I could try cutting off the rubber and replacing the battery shell.

I just use a small dull screwdriver. A little pressure applied to the bottom of the battery just pops out. Removing the controllers each time sounds like a PITA. I have never removed mine. Definitely a design flaw though and using a screwdriver is kinda ghetto.

True, I actually do replace my controller batteries somewhat frequently

About the design flaw, can one just lift the battery from the other end with one of those straps? Or are they firmly attached at one end and that's it?

    • @ThisKory
      @ThisKory  4 месяца назад +1

The negative side of the battery is deeper inside the pocket and with no strap cutout to even install one of those pull tabs on that end. I hope this answers your question.

@@ThisKory just bought one. We'll see. Thanks for the review and for showing how they align with palms while not being gripped.

I guess the design makes that tab pretty useless.

In my example, unfortunately, yes 🥲
