Great youtube! I was born and raised in Independence, moved to Atlanta in 2000, sure miss the food, music, and people. Bluesfest was cool, Arthur Bryants BBQ, Bartle Hall, Kemper, Liberty Memorial, Hall's Crown Center, I can go on, great place to be from. I grew up right behind the Truman Library on 24 Hwy, many great memories, thanks for bringing some back!
one thing i noticed from traveling outside of ok is how much i appreciate our space. kc is covered with beautiful parks, surrounded by lakes and rivers. even the houses in the hood have a front and back yard. theres space everywhere..cheap, affordable space! its wonderful. its a small population for its size but some how you still get anywhere in under half an hour. good stuff.
It's a very beautiful city. Hope I'll see it live one day. Till this time I take it to my favourites.Thank you so much for Sightseeing. Many greetings from Vienna Monique
i used to live in kansas city and now that have left i miss it so much. This video reminds me so much of the fun time i used to have when i was living there now i wish that i never left.
My hometown and I am so proud, too! I live in San Diego now, but Kansas City is my home. They call San Diego America's Finest City, but I know better! Kansas City is America at it's best.
I live in the KCMO area. This video makes me proud to be here. :D Every year at Thanksgiving, when all the family is over, we all sit in the living room with our dessert and watch the plaza lights turn on. That's one of my favorite parts of the whole day.(: Kansas City is where my heart is.
Love this town. Jazz, Blues, BBQ, Boulevards, Fountains, and the greatest people from any town in America. Someday we should get around to fixing up the Royals and Chiefs though ;d
the picture at 2:10 is a water wheel at the steamboat arabia museum. its awesome they have a DONKEY SKELETON and they have hundreds of these jars of food. mainly pickles. all are good to eat. they also have these boots that were getting transported. if you ever go through downtown, go through the city market. theres also a minskeys and they have like three levels! and theyre all like balconys and overlook the whole resturant.and theres the moon marble in bonner springs.
It usually changes a lot, like any generic office building. I know that USDA has their regional offices there. Payless Cashway's used to have offices there before they closed down.
It depends. I've meet people who just moved to Kansas City who are introverted and had a hard time connecting with Kansas City people mainly because a lot of Kansas City folks they meet give out a "don't talk to me" vibe. You will find people like that in this city, but we all aren't like that.
thanks for posting this video,Im going to move there this july, I was wondering what it looked liked, I havent personally been there yet, only my parents have.
went to KC for the NFL Nationals tournament. Kansas City was an amazing city the downtown KC Power and Light District was particularly interesting at 0:42.
My parents might be moving here. I have to go with them because I'm not 16 yet. I live in England and I love it here but I wouldn't mind moving to Kansas it does look nice. What advice would you guys give me?
Guys am an international student, I applied to UMKC, do really advise me to go there? I like its pictures, I mean Kansas City, Is it really beautiful as in pics?
I have been here 4 years, not one blizzard never got over 100 in the summer and not one tornado where I live. Every place has something but nobody has it like MO....
@ilovehim31092 @meowcat121 Where in PV did you grow up ? I'm off 83rd and Nall not too far from SME and corinth square. One of the DJs from oldies 95 lives right by Blue Valley North, my friend Chris' parents are his neighbor.
If you ever go to Kansas city. A few things to check out. 1. The WWI museum at liberty memorial. Very cool. 2. Gates BBQ. Nuff said. 3. 18th and vine. These are just 3 great locales to my great hometown.
First, that was thirty years ago. I'm not gonna debate you on that point because I wasn't even alive then. But, now, the economy in KC isn't that bad. they have an unemployment rate of 8.2% as of March. Not to mention the nearby Lawrence, St. Joseph's and Topeka MSAs that are at 5.5, 6.7, and 8.5 respectively. Not to mention the continuing land and economic expansion of the area.
@Om3gaG4ming Don't move to down town. go to a further suberb ateast 30 miles away coz you can see amazing storms without hearing the busy street noises. Go to Peculiar. go to south Vally road there and you'll find a 11 year old kid. He'll tell you everything about this area.
Sounds like Arizona to me, im actually British but I know a lot about your country. My Mum used to live in KC in the mid 80s (when the royals were good in baseball) :)
WARNING!: I recommend buying a car. The Kansas buses (The Jo) are more expensive to ride ($2.25-3.50) than the Missouri side buses ($1.25). The Jo buses also don't run that long (stops around 6pm, which can kill someone's Kansas City experience being on that time limit). Lastly, depending on what career your on/after, I would look at what's hiring in Kansas City before moving. My career is in the culinary field and the opportunities are horrible for entry levels cooking jobs.
Yeah I know that because my mum used to live there lol. She said there were blizzards in the winter and the temp got over 100 F in the summer :S On top of that theres tornadoes.
The parking garge I Went to was all fucked up and had signs that said exit and they lead you to a dead end. Even the street signs are fucked up. Sometimes they don't have sign and tell where you are at?
south kansas city, ewwww! north, south, and west kansas are all gorgeous! I lived there for 4 years while i were going to UMKC! and i loved it! phenominal place to live, hospitable, good food, great people! i like it way more than there western counterpart St.louis! but STL is pretty great though to! visit both if you're ever in missouri!
and the moon marble, its the only store if its kind in the nation. its the 8th wonder of kansas. i had to carry on this comment because i ran out of room in the last one. then theres the ww1 museum. its my favorite thing here. they have every ww1 weapon you can think of! ok. then theres union station, which is a train station used back in the 30s. they have a museum, an imax theatre, and science city. and recently there was a museum called bodys revealed.
@seagal2009 Dude the problem is that i'm currently in California, many people told me you won't find something like california, especially southern California.. That's disappointing!
I like how theres so much hate racial comments about the people of KC. I actually lived in KCMO for 13 years and moved to Overland Park. Doesn't mean i should stay out of KCMO i still have family there. KC is a great place to live specially because of the economy but to stay for the summer is soooo boring nothing to do here..
Yeah I just got back from Dallas and they have like 3 or 4 good rap stations. S does Denver CO and Omaha NE. Denver has 107.5 and they play a lot of Eminem. And Omaha has 106.9 and they play some tight shit.
I was scanning all the radio stations and did not find one good station. They even cut the eminem part out on the Drake song "Forever". What the fuck is up with that?
@nonginger you mean I forgot that 2+2=17? Didn't forget because it's not true and it can't possibly be. I don't mean to drop a logic bomb on you but KC isn't a state, it's a city. The metro area is in 2 states, neither posses the most violent crime or murders per 100k. KC as a city comes in 11th as most dangerous though so if that is where you were getting your verizonmath from you're still infinitely wrong. KC metro also has 8% of the top 50 best cities to live in according to Money Magazine.
Kansas city is the 2ND BEST city in america. Hate to break it to you guys but in my opinion san francisco has to be the best. But kansas city still rocks.
Great youtube! I was born and raised in Independence, moved to Atlanta in 2000, sure miss the food, music, and people. A beautiful city full of memories to me, I had the good fortune to live for four years, meet good people and a lot of fun, I love KCMO.

It usually changes a lot, like any generic office building. I know that USDA has their regional offices there. Payless Cashway's used to have offices there before they closed down.
I'm glad there's a pic of Town Topic Burgers in there.... best burgers ever!
