the shield is more than just a magic shield for fighting, he can use it for production as well as copying basically anything he sacrifices to it. you could quite literally just make a panacea with the right shield config.

If there were no drawbacks to eating a df, I might still pick this (cause I mean the worst possibility is getting a shit ability) but you also can’t swim. So yeah, you could get a busted power (at a cost) or you could get absolute dog shit and still be unable to swim.
And there a lot of good ones, but the difference isn’t so great you don’t have to worry about getting something bad.
If you get to have whatever fruit you want though, I’d probably take this. I only watched up to s1 of shied hero, and the shields definitely good (bad I’ve heard he ends his series as a multuversal god) but based on what I saw, there are better DFs. And again I haven’t seen SAO.
I have all the canonical devil fruit memorized. I'd just dig through it for one of the op ones, like Quake, Dragon, Gum, or any particularly worthwhile Logia.

You forgot that the shield also keeps you healthy your whole life, makes you immune to any poison, bullet and blade proof, and it lets you craft and act as a whole ass inventory

The amosphere is simply the best choice by far. On top of that, you could get games where the all of the other items are available and won't kill you. Also who wouldn't, as a gamer, not want to be able to experience the game when inside it? Like any game requiring a controller of some kind would be useless as you are the controller. It could also help truly make simulation games realistic in every aspect including G's. The possibilities are essentially endless for the amount of things you could do and immersing would be light years ahead of what we have now
I’m definitely taking the shield. It’s rarely ever even a magical weapon and has so much practical use. All you gotta do is feed it something so it can change forms and you’re good.
The shield has the most practical use. It turns normal things into skills which let you learn mastery over simple things such cooking, foraging, smithing, and etc.

The shield has so much versatility, for example I can change the manipulate plant seeds to make it grow fast and produce fruit that can taste better or even grow bigger and this is just one of the possible infinite utilities that the shield can give you depending on what you feed it

Zanpacto are actually confirmed to be weightless since there made of spirit partials but I also think they just used ichigo as a reference for a zanpacto in general so I’m definitely picking the zanpacto especially if it’s release state is smaller and concealable like a knife or soi-fon’s stinger gauntlet

The shield is definitely the best. You get a ton of static buffs, & you can craft things out of the materials you feed to it. You'd be a multi-millionaire with a magical shield to protect you from threats.

The shield actually has a lot of properties that make it great outside of fighting. One being it can translate everything you say and hear.
the shield makes you almost unkillable by conventional means at higher levels, it has really nice defensive perks and with some shields, you even have decent offensive options. It definitely isn't as powerful (from what the anime has shown so far) as the top-tier devil fruits, but it's much more consistent and has almost no drawbacks
Because you can change its shape, it's also the easiest to hide. Just through a phone or apple watch in and you have a weird looking apple watch if anyone asks, along with all of the preferences you have for phones, meaning you can also have a phone basically connected to your head telepathically, which is insanely strong in day to day life.

The thing is that shield is pretty busted and can pretty much absorb anything and turn into "______" shield and transform between forms at will. Take your computer with you, make food on the go, you can probably even use it as a form of transport. It can do pretty much anything as long as you feed it the right stuff with the only drawback of not being able to remove it. The combat abilities of it are fine, but it has tons of actual utility for non combat uses.
Honestly i feel like the shield is the most practical pain is basically non exhistant even if you dont block with it, it has unlimited storage, grants you irl fast travel, crafting, and gives you a universal speach translator
well remember that having the shield probably means you also get a skill tree that allows you to spec into cooking or something

Zanpakutos are actually pretty useful. If you think about it, assuming you get an elemental shikai, say ice, you could solve polar ice caps and so many other problems with other elements or you could just have crazy superpowers

Actually I think that the better point to make is that in this instance YOU ARE IN AREA 51! If you made it this far you have a small window of opportunity before sh*t hits the fan. The shield, it acts as an inventory, item crafter, Stat modifier, and even if you can't remove it it can be moved around the body and have its appearance changed where it looks like a Mundane item so no one even needs to know what it is.
The shield can do a lot tho. Imagine scanning a car and you can just respawn it whenever it runs out of gas.

I'd be fine with either the VR headset or the devil fruits. Plus, it's pretty easy to tell the fruits apart, so I could pretty easily choose the best option. I could also get that dark fruit and possibly even use multiple devil fruits.
In the novels, the hero's weapons in the rising of the shield hero basically operate like how the user exacts them therefore you can just expect them to be all-powerful right from the get-go. No training necessary, even if you did want to train you can use money resources food or even just wait or explore long enough to power it up

@@KAI_QUASAR the issue in the novels is that all the hero’s are way too stubborn to listen to the one actually researching the hero’s weapons, and the researcher isint trying to make up new power systems only ones that have been used in the past. So the shield hero ends up having like 30 ways to power up his shield but everyone else only has the one. THEORETICALLY someone could make up a new power system and convince themselves it works to make the hero’s weapons completely op

The shield can actually do a lot of practical stuff for everyday life like craft give resistances to toxins identify stuff and other things
Assuming all of these are government made and work exactly as the anime counterparts. The shield is the most busted thing out of all of these items. It absorbs matter, can alter the quality of materials, has insane combat potential, AND has the ability to evolve without giving up any prior powers gained. You would simultaneously become the world most durable, most advanced, richest man in the world. You would in essence become what we could only describe as a demi-god

VR headset us the most mundane but also the best choice, even if you keep it for yourself for just personal 1player game use its still amazing, and if you can get the technology in it reproduced and sell it to the masses you will be crazy rich.
Behind that I'd say the shield because it gives you ligit magical abilities if you feed it the right things, and then devil fruits, its a real roll of the dice of what you could get but there are some pretty good powers you could get.

Need to learn a new language? Shove a couple language books into it.
Want to learn how to get good at cookies? Shove in some cool books and utensils!
You’re not going to get instantly good at anything, but you’ll certainly get compounding gains.
Plus on the off chance you do get into a fight you’re supremely tough just off base.
And you have an endless selection of weapons and potential weapons within literal arms reach.

Easily the devil fruits. The headset comes with the drawback of possibly getting trapped in it. Everything else needs training or fighting to be able to actually use it. Worst case with devil fruits is you become someone who can't swim and has a dope party trick

But the Amusphere is still only an input&output device tho (basically like your screen and keyboard), you still need a computer with the game/program build for that kind of VR to use it which haven't exist yet so have that thing today would bring you no good (imagine bringing our current VR headset back to the 2000s).
The Neurolinker (the successor of SAO's VR technology in about 20 years or so in the same universe show called Accel world) on the other hand is much better to have right now since it's a "computer" in and of itself so you can use it even without the fancy games and stuff.

I really choose the shield cuz of the healing properties like you can solve so much world problems with that and cause problems too and also not be able to be touched by anybody or hurt and be able to survive anything. I'd rather have that
Bro, no. The Holy Shield is the best choice. Sure, you can't take it off, but that's the smallest drawback of everything here. Benefits:
1. No longer fearing car crashes or attacks by knives and guns. Potentially also fall damage, but the jury's still out. Also a skill that would let you walk underwater in a protective bubble.
2. Shield can gain new forms, stats, and abilities by feeding it the random plants, animals, chemicals, and objects it reacts to, empowering it and you.
3. Stats are everything in Shield Hero, and at a certain point even a nuke would leave you entirely unharmed.
4. If you wind up with a zero attack stat like Naofumi, you literally cannot hurt someone directly. It's speculated that soemone having sex with Naofumi literally could not feel pain from it, even by accident. If there's no pain or even discomfort, all that's left is pleasure.
5. Shield counters for when some asshole decides to mess with you.
The VR headset sounds great on paper, but consider: potentially no games for it. Or maybe there's games but since they're all MMOs their either filled with government agents who're going to hunt you down, or empty.
