i only run 395s. now i have a bluesqvarna. i had to port the exhaust . i love it. only changed the oil pump, they threw an extra in the box. but i put a husky pump on it. since i have many parts from only running one model saw. im running a 32 lazer bar with my grind. the carb is very tunable . only 395 i ever got with factory without intake boot leak, DWL
I agree with the stock dogs being large enough. On rare occasion I hit the little muffler bumper which I don’t like, but it’s with it for not eating up too much bar length. With a 28” these saws like an 8 pin sprocket.
Dang it! Now I've got to get one, and I'll order a new piston along with it. The fact that you're not trying to sell them to us and share the good and the bad equally makes you their best salesman in my book. You got me hooked on the hobby after I found your fugly videos when rebuilding an old scored up 345 my father had laying in the barn. Firewood cutting went from work to fun when I got that old pile of junk cutting faster then my brand new Stihl. Now I have way too many 350 series saws and half dozen blue saws in different states of tune and have enjoyed every one of them, even the couple that I've had to put hours of work into debugging before they were viable saws. I buy them with the mindset of they're puzzles that when finished will put firewood on the truck. Thanks for sharing and adding another "need" to my list!
It is like having a 4.11 rear end vs. a 3.55 rear end in a car. The 4.11 will give you a big jump out of the hole but won’t have a real high top end. I used to keep two props in my big boats. I had a 1:12 for skiing and a 1:15 for cruising where economy meant more than jumping on plane real fast.
keep doing what your doing Walt please, ive been here a while and allways found your videos to be very informative and impartial. ive a heap of chicken poop turned into mostly chicken soup all thanks to you! watching these big saws with interest
You have discovered the one down side to the 2 in 1 file system from pferd and stihl. They take material off the rakers (depth guides) every sharpen and you get an aggressive chain. A lot of us have found it's advantageous to take the flat file out and only use it every third or fourth sharpen, other than that they are a great tool.
Remove center file and do rakers by hand Ol school way. I’ve found As the cutter gets smaller the raker height increases- new cutter . 025 - sharpened many times and almost to witness mark .040
But worth sorting out for sure. Nice saw and once setup it's a true working saw. I've put enough time to say that now. Putting together a video of it dropping maple now.
I would much rather buy a kit saw than buy a saw already put together. That way, I know it would be assembled correctly and any problems will be caught before it is completely put together. It is also a learning endeavor for me, so I know how it goes together if I should later have to fix it. My first kit saw was my MS 660, which will soon be four years old. It is still running and it’s 25 inch bar has cut a lot of wood.
Throw the 2 in 1 sharpening thing away. Just learn to use a file. 2 in 1 lowers the rakers to far on any video I've watched about them. I bought a blue 395 also because of your channel thanks for showing us the good and bad honestly 👍😎
Nice, looks like they landed right where you where aiming. I wish Huztl would offer the full wrap for the 288. The only place I can find that makes a full wrap for the 288 is ProSafety and they want $200 for it, I also prefer the smaller dogs on my saws since I don't need the large bucking spikes but ProSafety is the only one who makes aftermarket and theirs is larger than the OEM design. I did buy OEM for the 288 since I wasn't sure about the Huztl's bending.
Not saying what to do but myself I would install the new Farmertec piston with a base gasket and put some hours on the girl before doing any mods. But Hey thats Just Me Love the slow mo felling 😲
Hey old man, you got pretty good for a farmer ... love your videos!
Very nice!
All the best!
Walt throws a little nod out to buckin. Classic walt

In Walt’s last video he talked about how Holtzforma has fixed the piston issue.
tight chain and twist bar sideways a little when plunging , i bore and / or plunge all my hardwood. unless its small firewood and i power through it
Walt, no offense, but I love to hear you ramble... I could listen to you all day long!!
The fellow you were helping looked like Scotty from Star Trek(later years).

Well I bought one of these saws before I saw these videos and it came today so I guess mine will probably be a piston slapper...

That saw just paid for itself right there! Nice job.

Did the crank blow yet?
Nope. A solid saw. A SOLID year of heavy use on it as well.
That's great! Sounds like they are uping their game. Muffler studs and lock nuts are no big deal, being the studs are tee headed.

Nice saw
Hi Walt, do you have a part number for that prop please?
What's mix ratio you are running in g395?
Same as all the others, 32:1 with non ethanol and Husqvarna "Synthetic Blend"
@@afleetcommand ok thanks
