If the cruise is sold out one key strategy we have used is to wait until final payment is due and recheck for any openings. On thr larger ships it is very likely some inventory will open up.
I do have 2 NCL transatlantic cruise with airfare that was very cheap and one last minute cruise that was very cheap. I have enough credit to get a ticket on Southwest. I’m thinking about MSC. I heard the ship is very modern and cheap but the service and food are not very reliable.
MSC is really trying to break into the North American Market but it's taken them a while to adjust to North American tastes. It's cheap because they are still making a name for themselves, I don't expect that to last forever, they are certainly a notch or three above Carnival.
Prices have gone up dramatically in proportion to the quality of food, entertainment, service of yesteryear. Lines better be careful not to neglect the "cruisers" that make it all possible. They have a habit of dropping off quicker than the debt holdings of cruise lines! Rogue wave?
Yes, you do get billed the gratuities for the children. Some people will remove them, I've been known to remove theirs and keep my wife and I on the automatic and then hand extra cash to our stateroom steward and dining room waiters if they took extra care with the kids. I've also tipped the Kids Club workers a couple of times when they were absolutely exceptional on long voyages where there weren't too many kids.
It's not to say that there aren't some very good deals out there still but you need to be prepared to travel out of peak times, avoid holidays and perhaps not be on the latest, greatest ships although they will still be very good. Find a good cruise agent and give them a budget. Check out MSC Cruises too, they are a bit of disrupter because they aren't publicly traded.

Great video/thanks!

We never buy the drink package. Too expensive and we don’t drink enough
All about the math right? Knowing what you drink on a cruise really helps. Who do you generally cruise with?
Andrew
I “always” buy the drink package… It’s too cheap and I drink way too much 😂
🛳🛳🛳
A question:
When kids sail free, do their parents have to pay gratuities for their children??
Yep

I’ve had to put off European sailings because they’re just too expensive.
Sad I wanna take my first cruise
