    To do lists….how many more can there be? I mean…get a legal pad, write down the stuff you need to do, cross it off when you have done it. Or put it in your calendar so you know what you are going to do at what time in your day. I’m 70 but have been an early adopter forever. But this app mania is over the top. Get a Bic Pen and a legal pad. All this typing and sorting and thinking and over-thinking and having information in 8 different places is just nutty. And subscription apps are the worst! Apple Calendar does everything one needs in terms of getting places on-time and getting tasks done. One doesn’t need Fantastical, etc. Freeform? Really? You write stuff all over this infinite whiteboard because….why? Talk about being confused. Sure..I use an ipad and an iMac. My iPad has replaced my laptop. But, geez….I listen to Chris’s videos and it’s no wonder he has ADHD. How can one find anything when their information is spread around in 10-15 different apps? Simplify your lives. See how many apps you can get rid of next week. Try to work with just 4. I’m a busy guy. If I can do it so can anyone else. The time spent figuring out how to use the latest productivity app just makes one less productive. Just my 2 cents.

      Glad to find the occasional sensible comment here. Geeks think that all these elaborate scenarios make their lives easier, they're kidding themselves. Or maybe it's all for the sake of content, to have something to talk about, making some people feel like it's all necessary and important. Technology for technology's sake. I'm 44, if anything.
      Look how many keyboards he has behind him. I'm telling you, these are special people that the majority should not look up to at all. For them, applications for the sake of applications, they will dig into them to death. The same with hardware. But there are plenty of other more important and no less useful things in life.
      Yes, I'm still subscribed to this channel, but most of the videos are almost completely useless to me. They're too geeky, and a lot of it I don't need at all.

      Freeform is an app for designing stuff as a team, it doesn't have anything to do with to-do lists at all. I totally get what you mean though.. It's just great that with a digital to-do list you can always have it on your phone, you don't need to bring an extra notepad around with you everywhere. If you want to keep track of really big projects for work as well - an app is pretty handy as you can edit things and get reminders.

      Freeform is great for mind maps

    • @jimcoon
      @jimcoon 9 месяцев назад

      @@empirehypnosis I worked for 50 years - just retired. Was CEO of a wood products company with 500 employees. Was a very busy guy. Never once did I “mind map”. We set goals, monitored our progress toward completing those goals and celebrated when it was called for. Everyone knew their job, did their job and never mapped out what was in their mind. If someone tells me to mop the floor I don’t stop and say…gee, I better mind map that: 1) get a bucket. 2) fill it with water. 3) get a mop…..All these apps take time to learn and then people put information into them, often typing with their thumbs on a tiny device, and in that time they could have likely completed the task. Just my 2 cents

    Purchased this iPad ruclips.net/user/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA for my 4yr old grandson. He seemed to have grown out of his AMAZON tablet and he was always wanting his sister's iPad. So, I had to break down and buy him his own iPad. This was an EXCELLENT price on AMAZON! He loves it, he and his sister can play games together.

    Fantastic channel! You are probably the only person who can answer this question..With Apple Notes: I'd love to be able to either; 1. be able to set the font to Avenir And the colour to blue size 18 as a default or 2. be able to run a short cut to change my note configuration to this on Mac and/ or IOS/ iPadOS? Do you have a way to make this possible? Thanks again Mike

    Great video. I love how you explained everything but I find all my apps on my IPad every where. So is there a way I can arrange my apps in one for example have a folder for note, a folder productivity apps. It’s just how I can customise my home page instead of scrolling for other apps, can you please help with that. Thanks

    Great video and apps Chris! I’m now a 90% iPad Pro user (i used to be 100%) but now I use the mac Mini with studio display, and always use the Apple apps like reminders and calendar! But because of a very long past when I needed a multi platform I continue using Microsoft OneNote for iPad and MacOS as a note taking, organization (work, personal, family, hobbies) is a very versatile app and I’m waiting for the AI copilot for the app on next updates!

  • @GrevMarkussen
    @GrevMarkussen Год назад +4

    You could argue that both the Mac Mini and the Mac Studio are fairly priced. But the latter is just way to powerful (and thus expensive) for me.
    Fantastical used to be a "Mac Mini", but has turned into a "Mac Studio". Not saying it's overpriced - just a class above what I need. So while it's hard to argue that Calendar 366 is "just as good as Fantastical", I love that there is a cheaper, and still great, option. I can recommend it as well!
    (However, I actually think the esthetics ARE better! Prettier widgets, among other things.)

      If you live out of your calendar Fantasical is definitely with it. But I’ve heard from a lot of people that don’t need everything fantasical has to offer but still like certain features. That’s where Calendar 366 sits.

    How do you feel about Apple Reminders adding columns (enabling Kanban)? What differentiates Tasks beyond that?

    • @tahanumansimsek
      @tahanumansimsek Год назад

      Kinda looks like nothing, tasks is a very barebones app. You can practically do everything + more on the free version of ticktick

    • @mustafa521996
      @mustafa521996 Год назад +1

      Hey there, it's me the indie developer behind Tasks!
      Reminders is a good tool and there is no denying that. With Tasks, you can create a richer view of the tasks on the kanban view, comment on tasks, assign tasks to users and add custom fields per project as you need them. Our support for smart lists is something that reminders hasn't caught up to as well. There are a few more additional reasons why our users love us and you'd have to try us out to see why we stand out! The app is free to try out without hidden trials, so you can take it for a spin! If you ever have any questions, always there to assist you :D
      Edit: You cannot view everything across various lists from Reminders in one view, with Tasks, you can!

      @@mustafa521996Your app looks nice, don’t get me wrong, but it really just reminds me of Todoist more than anything else. What does Tasks do differently from Todoist?

    • @mustafa521996
      @mustafa521996 Год назад

      @@spencercarruth9706 hey, no offence taken at all - Tasks launched before Todoist with kanban support back in 2020. The app has support for a few things such as task types (richer tags on the kanban view), customisable fields per project (you can add multiple date/text/tag fields). Smart lists support is something I'm extremely proud of and is core to the app. To be able to create powerful dynamic filters is something I believe I do well (and the update coming in a few months will improve upon on that drastically). I would've been a Todoist user and not built Tasks if they felt more native. The nativeness of the app on all platforms is a bonus thing that users just like too!
      My goal is to make sure that Tasks can be a stupid dumb todolist + an extremely powerful task manager all at once without complicating the app. Hence the fine separation between projects to be able to adapt for all types is why I built Tasks. Tracking my groceries to full fledged software projects - I personally enjoy it too much to stop developing for it :D

    Cool to see some similar sticky note concepts to things I use, just different apps/slightly different features. I use the “drawing mode” setting in the Flex Widgets app as my Home Screen “sticky notes.” This also lets me customize the background to any photo/texture I want. When I need to grab an idea and keep it highly visible, I tap the widget open, write, and save the note. Also, Post-it makes an app that allows easy digital capture and organization of real sticky notes, and you can mix them with completely digital notes too.

    Hi CL, do you get paid for recommending these apps? I love your videos but here’s the thing, you recommend a task manager, I buy it and start using it and by the time I get any rhythm, you’re recommending another task manager - I know you’re a big, “Things” guy. I would rather get more information on how you use the tools that you really use day in and day out than to clutter up, buy, learn and shift to another app, which I do a lot based on your recommendations; you’re very influential to me on all things iPad! Just a question/thought - love your channel - thanks for everything!

      The whole point of this video is about highlighting good productivity apps by small teams that don’t get talked about a lot. The point isn’t about if I use them or not. The point is that they are good apps others might find useful. If I only talked about apps I used it would get boring. Not every one does the same kind of work, or even thinks the same way. I cover a wide range of different apps for different people. It’s like how there is more than one type of screwdriver.
