    How long can this last? Also, should it stored in the fridge or just on a shelf?

    • @BlackTieKitchen
      @BlackTieKitchen  4 года назад +3

      If you store it in the fridge, the oil will solidify. It should last a week or so. In my experience, adding the rosemary and having it exposed to air inside the container is what grew mold after a few weeks. But that begs the question... Why did it last that long without being consumed 😂

  • @Chris-cm5eg
    @Chris-cm5eg 5 лет назад +6

    Have you tried it with the bulk pre-peeled cloves? I love roasted garlic but I also love being lazy. I’d be interested if that method would end in success or burning and crying.

    • @BlackTieKitchen
      @BlackTieKitchen  5 лет назад +3

      As long as theyre tears of joy 😉
      I personally havent tried it yet. I need to hit the big box store for some of that 'farm's yield in a bottle.' One change would definitely be to cover them - roast them in a casserole dish covered with aluminum foil to reduce moisture loss. Might benefit from lower and slower temp as well 🤔
      I added it to my list!

    • @priyak87
      @priyak87 3 года назад +2

      I’ve done this - I take the pre-peeled cloves, soak in OO and wrap in foil then put in the oven just as these directions instruct. It’s very easy and no hassle - if you buy the big bag at Costco and use half of it for that it’s amazing how much this yields!!

  • @johnscanlan9335

    • @BlackTieKitchen

    • @BlackTieKitchen
      @BlackTieKitchen  4 года назад +2

      It can last on the counter for a bit, just make sure everything is full submerged. If its not submerged, mold can grow

    How do you store using the preferred method, same as the messy method in a jar with some rosemary? Also, loved the voice over, subscribing now

    • @BlackTieKitchen
      @BlackTieKitchen  3 года назад +2

      Yeah, the one thing is you want to make sure everything is submerged in oil. Otherwise the risk of mold will be much higher!

  • @tylou4479
    @tylou4479 4 года назад +2

    Wondering how long this keeps for?

    • @BlackTieKitchen
      @BlackTieKitchen  4 года назад +2

      It will keep for a bit. In my case, the rosemary that was exposed to the air is what got moldy

    What about botulism? Isn't that an issue? Or if the garlic is cooked then is ok?

    • @BlackTieKitchen
      @BlackTieKitchen  3 года назад +1

      Garlic is actually really good at keeping microbes away and things infused in oil usually do decently well - but Im not a food scientist/food safety researcher.
      Anecdotally, I had a bottle that got lost on my counter - after months, the issue was actually the stem of the rosemary that was sticking out of the oil - it got moldy, but everything that was in the oil was a-ok 🤷‍♂️
