dunno if this got mentioned yet, but if you ever do subsequent play throughs and fight young owl again. His flaming owl can actually be jumped over, and this is 100% always followed by his shadow rush. So just jump over and then mikiri counter
its not 100% followed by the rush! it does the 2 shuriken + slice some times! i know because i got one shoted by that trying to do the mikiri counter after the flaimng owl once!
Nah, try do the shura ending first and play the second play through with limited attack power and missing 8 prayer beads. Great Shinobi owl was much much more difficult for me than owl father. Because for me, great Shinobi owl breaks your posture easily and one hit you once he does, when I got to owl father, I already all the prayer bead, and he was easy because great Shinobi owl really made me learn
No, he's meant to be - well, what fighting you is like. Fast relentless combos, prosthetic usage, and, to the average enemy, a fucktonne of health and posture. He actually often has long pauses after his attack chains which give you time to play the posture broken animation and as he almost always goes for the stomp-stab after you've been posture broken you have enough time to jump/dodge away. Posture-management is important in all boss fights - it's just more important here because Owl hits like a freight train. Which makes sense he's like twice your fucking size wielding a sword as big as he is lol.
@@alicedruitt4805 Fighting you. A Shinobi. Aka someone who seeks to break the enemy's posture for a quick kill. All the ninja-esque enemies will kill you almost instantly if your posture breaks mid fight. A cool concept
I think it's a pretty good boss but it also suits my playstyle well. I died a million times to him on the rooftop because he's so passive and tanky but I nailed this fight in 2 attempts simply because he actually wants to fight you. He's still super tanky but there are no bullshit balls to prevent you healing or attacking and if our boi Myth had tried jumping the fire owl earlier, it's a free mikiri for massive posture damage once his health goes down a bit.
Well, I think the idea is to survive an onslaught of flurry (deflect enough and put some damage in) and then he backs off and you can recover your posture with a guard and rinse and repeat. I kinda like that mechanics, you have to choose your openings and you need to deflect enough. The only issue I have with the second owl fight is that the fight does feel kinda scripted because of very few openings you have, and maybe his attacks are a lot more normalised now and doesn't have the same level of personality that the first fight had.
that's the third time i'm writing this, but ok. the last prayer bead, that you need is in Ashina Castle after you beat the dragon. you should go under the Issin's tower, where WOOOOOOAAAA ninjas used to be and face Ashina Elite miniboss once again. after you beat him, he'll drop you the last prayer bead
This is like my fave boss fight; he gets more predictable if you actually stay aggressive. He'll mostly spam the firecracker slash which you can predict the moment he uses a shoulder slam. Two hits, block, build up his posture so high really fast and just don't let him have a moment to breathe.
I salute you dude for beating this boss with so much handicap. I love this fight and how i finished him. We were both critical and i have no heal and no resurection left. While fighting i got to his back for the final hit but he disappeared and became feathers then we fought once more for final clash and when he lands his first hit i used the mist raven and fucking stab him in his back and he was dead. I love how cool it is, like the final fight in ninja assassin where he uses his master's technique to beat him. God d*mn it, it's best thing i experienced in gaming.
lol, Owl_2 is really one of the toughest fights in the game full of tough fights. He can Mikiri you, has an instakill grab which does not display a "perilous attack" warning, kill you in 2-3 hits and blocks better than Lady Butterfly.
I got this ending on my first playthrough and killed owl on the roof easily, but then spent hours on him in the second fight at the lady buttefly place. After I learned him through and through, the final boss was almost too easy.
Honestly, the NG+ run is probably slightly easier because you likely have more posture/vit and atk pwr. Yes the bosses have more health to compensate but I don't think it works out to 1:1...
Mythy: kills super saiyan owl in under an hour with every possible option to make the game harder Me: literally takes 4 hours to beat normal run genichiro This is fine, really
The trick to this boss is to constantly stay at mid-long range. If you keep your distance, he only ever uses four different attacks (shuriken throw+swipe, shuriken+shuriken+jump smash, swipe, delayed swipe), all of which can be dodged and countered with a strong attack (charged thrust) if you do it with the correct timing. If you dodge these attacks right before he hits, he'll never combo into another attack. Using this strat makes it possible to beat the boss without getting hit. Trying to match him blow for blow just doesn't work since he breaks posture so easily and has so much health. That being said, well done! Really enjoying this series.
Totally agree! The strat I laid out is just one that works easily for people who may have trouble with getting down the perfect parries or memorizing the whole moveset.
I love these videos because we get to see people learn the move set slowly and the fight gets easier and easier until you finally overcome it. I fought him on both my playthroughs and I destroyed him the second time around with no charm+bell demon.

Boyke Bisma When u kill Genichiro he says “with the dragons blood running in HER veins, Ashina must be preserved.” Are u dumb? U obviously don’t listen to the dialogues
Hey myth, if you use divine confetti it will boost all of your damage, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, against sword bosses like Owl and Isshin, you will do VITALITY damage to them EVEN if they deflect, increasing your posture damage to them while also whitling down their health in the meantime as well as boosting dmg on the attacks that DO connect. Surprised no one told you yet
If you see Owl attacking with his elbow, he's going to use the firecracker. Simply dash forward twice (not sprint) after parrying the following slash, then you can connect a fully charged Ichimonji double on him - or better the Mortal Blade for a jaw dropping damage.
You have to dodge forward to the right towards the end of his firecracker combo, dodge forward to right for that big swing, mikiri for shadow rush, and dodge forward to left when he does the overhead jump slash.
This guy is hardest than Sword Saint. He must have killed me 30 times before I won at 4 AM. I remember specifically because my celebration woke my girl up. She wasn't as happy about my triumph.
His slash>firecracker combo can be dodged by dashing backwards. Dashing to the side will actually clip you but it's cool that you were able to dodge that way.
i think it will be fun if you tell the time when you start the boss fight and when you finished it. want to know how long it takes you to finish the boss fight.
Nice, taking him without Ichimonji is another challenge, because as he destroys your posture you'd better recover it while attacking, Ichimonji my love :D But great fight, thx bro.
