Hey! Hi I just subscribed to your channel and I started building making a test project with actual rice! Now this rice army of Napoleon and maybe Spanish succession war, needs some rules. What rules are you using. And how wide should a battalion be? Inch=100 yards okay ? How wide was a battalion? The rice men are about 5mm or 0.24”.
Actual rice? That is hilarious. And awesome. It's awelarious. Ya gotta send me some pics. These are the rules I've been using: www.rodvik.com/2by2/ They use 1" = 100yd and the rules as written are built for bases one inch across and half an inch deep. Mine are based on one inch squares, and they work just fine.
@@TheJoyofWargaming Yessss... indeed rice! The cheapest models ever! I mean, since I wasn’t sure to buy an army that will cost me tons of money from exchange, customs etcetera! And then having nobody to play with. I told myself why the hell not! Try it! And personally it looks fantastic! I did just three partial regiments. I’ll send you the pictures, and you tell me what you think. Again it’s just a test try! Now I haven’t build any commands, or horse or artillery yet, but I’v got a conning plan for that! ;). Now where can I send you these pictures?
It's really cheap. Gimme a few more videos to show you how easy. Working on a Spanish Succession battle with more info on Irregular's army packs that should help.
Nothing could be easier. Irregular does have a line of fantasy figures at this scale as well. The line troops aren't very different, but they have a lot of specialty things such as trolls, ents, wolf riders, and dragons, that would go a long ways towards adding that fantasy flavor. They also have a medieval line that would be much more dark age and would work well as fantasy races.
@@TheJoyofWargaming Just bought the Normans/Saxons battlegroup for this project. Thanks again for the inspiration, I simply don't have the time for larger figures these days and this looks like the perfect way for me to create something new.
Finally someone who doesn't paint Warhammer! I'm into 6 mm myself. Refreshing to find a video about painting historical armies.
Fantastic work mate, love your views on the rivet counters.
Brill!
Re cannon, I believe the caisson carries the ammo. The cannon barrel sits on its carriage.
Now someone can correct me 🤣
You make it look so easy!
Thanks, Dart!
Funny seeing a fruit fly for scale. It was almost twice the size of a man! 4:47

Nice work. I am getting the itch to try some 2mm.

@@TheJoyofWargaming Your other videos are definitely encouraging me to try 2mm. I am thinking of trying some English Civil war.
mummers????? where are you from!!!!?? hahahha
I suppose that there is nothing stopping me from painting these up as dwarves and goblins?

@@TheJoyofWargaming thanks for the reply, yes I will look at the medieval line to do this. Keep up the great work!
