As always , looking great, did not know they would allow that grinding, great idea on putting the outline grind to keep it even, learned a lot from this video....best wishes from Florida, Paul
I'm 69 I'm an old Retired pipe fitter, When I started out as a young man 45 years ago I didn't have any schooling either I learned everything by trial-and-error, Some of the old timers would show you And others were hateful bastards, And when you got better the good guys were on your side the haters hated you even more, I was left handed But I could really well with either hand, The young guys gave me the frigging nickname golden arm, Don't Like being bragged on, Just Babbling, old guys we'll do that. You are at your very worst welding when you're taking a test, Out in the field you can use the cable for your arm or file, Screw the video take the test get the job, You can always voice over. Good luck young man God- Speed.
Nights sucks, especially for a welder. I used to X-ray welds at night and when I would come in before the end of their shift to setup, some welders would wanna give me their phone number so I could call them to let them know if they passed or busted. I hate letting guys know they busted. But I’m just doing my job at the end of the day.
Damn bro, you got me hyped for whenever I get my first welding job.. and kind of the reason why I did A huge career change. I used to sell dope and also do it, now I’m in school trying to get associates degree and get out of debt. So thank you and keep these videos going!

Appreciate the shit out your videos, tests are a pain in the ass, and to film on top of that to keep up with these videos, I give it to you bro. Welds were clean good stuff!
Oh wow I've only done these pipe supercoupons with stick 6010 root, I didn't know that when you use TIG root you do it with a knife edge instead of grinding a landing.
damn brody good shite! i started welding in middle school and kept doing it through high school and thought that's what my career was going to be. life happened and i went a different route but i've always loved welding and how the finished product says it all. I own a couple businesses in home building and home inspections now but i still love watching a beast welder. good shit young homie, i'm sure you're an inspiration to alot of young bucks coming up lost and wanting to learn a skill. In this day and age and all the bs going on its good to see the trades keep this country running. Much love from your neighbor in SA!
I been watching your videos since I got back from my deployment from South Korea, I just decided to use my military benefits to start school (July 6). I’m from Houston too (Hiram clarke). You said in one of your videos to hyu for practice and tips so I was going to ask when you were available.
Union Boilermakers Common Arc test are not allowed to use any power tools all you get to use is a chipping hammer and a file I always carried a worn down sawzall blade in my pocket
The stainless pipe looked way to hot. Maybee it dooesent matter on the test. But in the field you should not let the pipe be so hot that you have a lot of colure. And in the end off the root you can have alot of holes in the tape and have good flow on the purge. Nice job you are skilled.
Hey Rico any tips to breaking out as a single hand welder in the plants? I’m confident in my welding but it’s hard to get a test especially now. Thanks 🙏
you need to get a good resume....check indeed and search thee whole usa..also follow up with companys you applied for ..i know you want a plant job but dont pass up any welding job you need to get experience and the most important one NETWORK AND GET CONTACTS
Good shit man! I love watching and learning from your videos. I start my welding training at Georgia Trade School in the fall so watching you gets me ready mentally 👍🏽 keep up the hard work and pumping out content!!
Thanks for the vid man actually really helps too hear someone like you who knows his shit say I've failed 2 guys thanks just for saying that cause damn at the beginning same.shit for me
Yes sir...texas scale low. West and northeast scales are good. Arizona apprenticeship open their doors for new applicants. Phoenix gonna get hella hot like the Phoenix suns

Hey bro so im trying to start saving up for a welder for my rig and I was wondering what you welder you would suggest for pipe fencing, what’s the best welder to start with. I’m looking for something affordable but also good to start with.
Depends, some factors. Do you want gas/diesel or electric? Are you planning on using it for field work like pipeline? Do you have 220 or 110 capabilities? If you run tig are you ok with lift arc or do you need functions? Do you plan on running it for a few hours or non stop 8-12 hrs a day? There are plenty of cheap options, and brands like miller, Lincoln, esab, Hobart are always great welders but are never budget friendly.
Quick question. I’ve watched plenty of details on welding. I’ve seen how to weld first hand and I was a pipe fitter for quite some time. What would be my advice if I can only pass with GTAW? I can’t handle stick welding on small pipe like coupons and such. Probably 1-3 inch pipe
1/8 and dropping down to a 3/32 at 50amps on a stainless root?? Thats just cooking the material!!! Bump up your amps and drop filler sizes, high travel speed is everything. Our procedures call for 80-90amps and 1/16 filler, does a blinding job, leaves inside of the root looking like a wedding ring and lovely and silver👌👌
I see a lot of hater here brother..but don't mind them..there a lot of ppl out there called them self welders but ay luego andan Dando Las nalgas en Las soldaduras en position lmao.. hahaha por eso digo always stay humble and we always got shit to learn and we keep on learning. 😀😃
Your more of a tig welder than rod welder. I think you did good on the test. I’m confident you passed the tig test. I’m a little skeptical on the rod test but will see like you said. You have to have patience and you said you don’t have that. When taking a test you kinda have to take your time and make it look good. There’s a lot of QC assholes they want it perfect only god is perfect. Take care and keep on burning cus if you do you’ll be earning ✌🏼
My man. You can always do a voice over or text over. No need to fuck ur test up. Appreciate all the videos.
thanks homie!
