Fantastic sequencer, love the new updates. Couldn't ask for much more really, but I would love to see more control over sequencer direction especially 'pendulum' movement. If you haven't seen pendulum movement in a sequencer/arp before, check out the Grp Synthesiser A4, look up the 'GRP A4 Jam' vid on YT.
i have spend quite a bit of time researching "step sequencer" vsts and bitwigs build in step sequencing possibilities. I have not found something i like more! Stepic is not only epic and powerful but also very straight forward and easy to understand. The new features are welcome! Thanks to the meister of this device. Stepic is an instrument that can be played live!
for live operation, an upstream transpose function would be necessary. What would it look like if, during live operation, you kept running to the computer for every transpose and turning the wheel with the mouse...and then, in the hectic rush, you still missed the key. So it would be nice if the update could also specify whether you can transpose using the wheel or a midi keyboard. Because up until now, Stepic has not accepted any upstream Midi information. But I suspect that the function will come with the next update. Then Stepic has definitely reached the top world class level. 😉
@@OlafFinkbeiner In any case, I don't know what the Stepic programmers were thinking when they implemented the transpose function for the root note with a rotary wheel. But while right next to it, the scale keys can be selected with a single step pull-down menu. What more do you need with a midi stepper? That's right...the transpose function...with which you can carry out your transpose with pinpoint accuracy and above all in a targeted manner. With the Transpose wheel, it's basically like playing Russian roulette live at Stepic, whether you're lucky and hit the right note. It doesn't matter whether you work with a touchscreen or a mouse...because the problem remains the same. The fact is that Stepic absolutely needs a MIDI input for trigger notes so that the program is also suitable for professionals in live operation. And if it should fail because of that...then I don't know...

Hi there, i just wanted to give a short thx to you and Devicemeister. Wow, not only the software is epic, also the support is fantastic. Had a question regarding the automation export in live via midi cc, they even take time to move you through the configurations literally step by step - and everything, friendly and helpful - thumb up for stepic and devicemeister!
Stepic is really a great (!) tool (i bought it a few days ago), but i would love to see more information, tips about the integration into songs. Maybe Start/Stop-calls etc. This video goes exactly into the right direction (for me), thank you and please - a bit more of stuff like this... 😘

I bought StepicVST last week immediately after watching one of Chris' video at www.youtube.com/@s1gns0fl1fe creating an Ambient track using it, no regrets with the purchase at all. I was a bit bummed by the lack of drag'n'drop midi notes. Now that function is actually in there I'm just so excited to use Stepic now!
This is confusing to me. The video title is calls out Stepic for Live 1.4 (so assuming the 1.4 version is for Ableton Max for Live) and Chris mentions going over the 1.4 updates (again, assuming he is looking at updates for Max for Live). Chris calls out the MIDI drag-n-drop being implemented (so assuming this is a 1.4, Max for Live feature), but then at around the 5:10 goes to the automation part, but implies that drag-n-drop is not available for Max for Live - but the wording can be implied that automation is available for non-Max for Live versions?
Hi, the reason for this is that Stepic only exports MIDI data. You can export Stepic's automations if you run the modulation sequencers in MIDI-CC automation mode. If you have further questions about this, don't hesitate to reach out to our email support or visit us on our Discord server. You can find the contact information in the video description or on our website.
Hi, in Stepic you tie steps by setting the yellow "on" switch in the top row to "con" (blue). "Con" stands for connect and allows you to connect as many steps as you like.
Hi, thx for your interest in Stepic. At this point, there is no trial version available. But don't hesitate to reach out to us via email. I'm sure we'll find a solution together. You can find the contact information in the video description or on our website.
Hi, Get video. But I didnt get this at 5:15 about the midi export for automation. You say that the Live version dont support that on export ? But then again you could do that you say ? Like if you mapping the CC first you can or ? So I am little confused here ??😉

when dragging a stepic pattern from stepic into fl studio, consecutive patterns overwrite all others ie, ive stored 11 patterns as variations in stepic. drag stepic pattern 1 into fl. it works drag stepic pattern 2 from stepic - being a variation of pattern 1 - into fl. now FL pattern 1 is overwritten. ive tried making individual patterns in fl itself, then selecting a new fl pattern before dragging each stepic pattern over. so create pattern 2 in fl, then drag pattern 2 from stepic. Each still overwrites the previous patterns in FL. In you example you only drag over pattern 1 from stepic. Have you tried dragging all patterns over? Any ideas? cheers
Hi, the approach you've chosen is right for FL Studio, I think. However, you need to make sure that the piano roll of the pattern you want to export into is open. It's a quirk of FL that when you import MIDI via drag and drop, existing MIDI in the the target pattern gets overwritten. To merge multiple Stepic patterns into one FL pattern, you first need to export them into separate FL patterns and then merge the MIDI inside FL. That's the way I know, at least.
I have the vst version, and cant figure out how to automate my serum patch. All its showing is #cc but in another video you have out it shows a "map" button you would turn on and then select the control you want automated but i cant seem to find that on my version of stepic.
Hi, the "map" button is only available in Stepic's Max for Live version and is used to map Live's own parameters. Live enables this through its API. Unfortunately, other DAWs do not offer such a function - at least not for VST3 and Audio Units, since these are standardized formats. Therefore, in Stepic's VST3/AU version we need to use MIDI-CC for parameter automation. That also works very well with most 3rd-party plugins and hardware synthesizers today. If you need assistance with the CC setup, don't hesitate to reach out to our email support or visit us on our Discord server. You can find contact information in the video description or on our website.
Is there a slew or glide button for gliding between notes or parameters? For folks who use Ableton but do not have live I'm guessing the VST would still work?
At this point, Stepic does not offer a glide function. However, there is Step-Tie, which lets you connect as many steps as you like. If you don't own Max for Live, then Stepic's VST3/AU version is the way to go👍

try installing Stepic twice... once in a folder for Ableton and then once for Bitwig. So I use Stepic in Reaper and there is a Reaper preset function that can save its pressets, setting parameters, etc. completely independently of the plugin under a name I have specified.
Hi, at the project/instance level, you have 16 patterns available for storing your musical ideas. Stepic doesn't have an integrated preset system. However, most hosts/DAWs offer the ability to save the current plugin state as a preset like Live, Bitwig, Logic or Cubase to name a few.
Hi, could you describe a bit more specifically which feature you're looking for? In general, I can tell you that Stepic is a polyphonic step sequencer. You can set on step level whether just a single note or a chord is played.
Wo kann man die gesamte StepicSession - mit allen Einstellungen - innerhalb von Stepic als PRESET speichern? (In English: Where can you save the entire Stepic session - with all settings - within Stepic as a PRESET?)
Hi, in the current version, Stepic doesn't have its own preset system. However, this addition is planned for a future update. Until then, you could utilize your DAW's preset system to store and recall Stepic's plugin state. If you need assistance, feel free to reach out to our email support. We're always glad to help.
