There are actually different types of trepadors. You seem to have trepador radials which feel like the "most on-road oriented treps". There is also "trepador bias" and "trepador competition" which seem to have different tread pattern, different rubber compound and are even more off-road oriented than radials. I have always found a H/T and A/T tyres are always quick to aquaplane in water and found a good quality M/T or aggressive A/T way better in wet as they push the water out the sides .less aquaplaning and a quality tyre still grips well in the wet be it M/T or hybrid and A/T
Another factor to consider with the RAZR A/T & M/T is the load rating in certain sizes which far exceeds many other brands. ie 265/70r16 is commonly a 112S rating. Whereas the Razr in the same sizing is a 121/118Q. Have found the AT811 to be absolutely fantastic for MOST conditions for MOST people IF we are all being honest with ourselves and highly recommend them to many of our customers. The M/T despite being fairly quiet (for an M/T) do sing a bit on hot mix and will tend to chunk out on the harsher tracks such as the Kimberley and Gascoyne regions reducing their life significantly. I absolutely loved my Hankook RT03 M/T 6 ply's and still had plenty of life left in them. I swapped to the Razr M/T purely for it's 10ply carcass for towing the van. The Razr M/T & A/T 811 have proved excellent in urban streets / city despite being an offroad focused tyre! That's great feedback mate! I'm glad that what you've experienced is similar to me as well - the 811 is spot on for most of what we expect our tyres to do, and if we're going outside that... well, expect the unexpected! Thanks for tuning in!
Hey Dirty, what you're looking at there is actually the tread face plies, so the layers underneath the tread, rather than on the sidewall. You're right, though, in comparison to the 10 face plies they generally have across the range, that will make them a little more prone to punctures, but they should still be pretty good. The sidewalls are three ply, which means they're less likely to get punctures than their two ply brethren like the AT771.
Hey Gideo, that one has been deprecated here in Australia. So while you might see them selling out specific sizes for a while, the range featured in this video are the key range going forwards.
I suppose in Australia people might be a bit more aware of the intended purpose of their tire choice. But people are people and most simply judge by looks with little to no regard for application and then whine when their mud tire wears out after 20K miles. Here in the states I can tell you that most reviews are garbage as reading through the comments the reviewer leaves almost always reveals a complete lack of understanding of what they were buying in the first place. But that goes for pretty much every product. It's also simply mid boggling that people buy things with their own imaginary expectations of what it should be in mind with not a shred of research done to understand the actual intended purpose of a product.
Hey Dave, you're pretty spot on, although we do have a bunch of folks down here who are passionate about their off road tyres. It's this kind of thing that I'm trying to tackle with some bigger films like this one: ruclips.net/video/RPRt_WWOaiY/видео.html
I'm hoping to have their tyres heading into the warehouse in the next month or so - they're definitely on my list to do, as they have such a fascinating variety of tyres 🤘
It wrong to determine tyres by on road : off road ratio. What do you choose if you do 90% on road, but the 10% off-road is “jesus-fucken-christ-mate” tracks?

any upgrade at Gripmax Mud Rage R/T Max ?
We run the maxxis razr in a 35 1250 20 and it is a awsome tire
Hey mate, the razr At811, in 31x10.5r15 says is a 6 ply sidewall, is this simply refering to load carrying, or will it be vulnerable to punctures?
Hey Dirty, what you're looking at there is actually the tread face plies, so the layers underneath the tread, rather than on the sidewall. You're right, though, in comparison to the 10 face plies they generally have across the range, that will make them a little more prone to punctures, but they should still be pretty good.
The sidewalls are three ply, which means they're less likely to get punctures than their two ply brethren like the AT771.
@@TyreReviewVideos brilliant! If the 31's are still 3 ply sidewalls that makes my decision to keep with 15" rims and the fat sidewall :D
@@torquendirty2186 Nice!
You guys don’t have Maxxis AT980?
Hey Gideo, that one has been deprecated here in Australia. So while you might see them selling out specific sizes for a while, the range featured in this video are the key range going forwards.
@@TyreReviewVideos okay Sir. I am using Maxxis At771 for my toyota fortuner. So far I’m impressed and satisfied of the performance.
Are they true to size??
It's this kind of thing that I'm trying to tackle with some bigger films like this one:

What is the best tire pressure on 265/65/17 maxxis AT 980?
Depends on your vehicle and what you're doing Charlie 👍
Can you do this video for the mickey thompson range
I'm hoping to have their tyres heading into the warehouse in the next month or so - they're definitely on my list to do, as they have such a fascinating variety of tyres 🤘
I.want buy maxxis 40"13.50-17 RAZR. The noise not to much .on road .
I.want bueno maxxs RAZR 40"13.5 x17 it is quiet on the stres ..not noise.not to much.
Oh Yeah the AT 771 looks good on my T60 Maxus
Good to hear!
It wrong to determine tyres by on road : off road ratio. What do you choose if you do 90% on road, but the 10% off-road is “jesus-fucken-christ-mate” tracks?
I found it!
Awesome! We have some more vids of the RAZRs, depending on which one you were hunting down. We have long term reviews on both the RAZR AT and MT versions, for example 👍
