The hooks on this album are killer, it really differentiates them from the rest of the newer HM-2 crowd.

Your description of Gatecreeper being a new old school death metal version of Black Dahlia Murder seems pretty accurate, and they do seem poised to make a jump into the metal mainstream. I like them, but it takes being in a certain mood to listen to a lot of Gatecreeper and their dry Stockholm/HM-2 sound. I've definitely gravitated more toward the grimy sound of the 20 Buck Spin bands like Tomb Mold, Fetid, Ossuarium and Cerebral Rot
Try Coffin Rot, they hit the filthy grimy spot.

Listened to this album today, really fucking loved it. 2019 has been a great year for Death Metal and now we have another album up in the top!

I love me some Gatecreeper. They are awesome live. Chase definitely outdid himself with Spirit Adrift's album earlier this year, though.
He is indeed a great vocalist. He has that old school death metal influence in him

I think Hyperdontia is my current fav of the Cavernous crew. They're all dope tho this is such a fun time to be a metalhead

The death metal scene in Denmark is solid right now! Not as cavernous as the killtown scene, but try check Wayward Dawn and BAEST out as well!

I know you get a LOT og requests. But can you review or mention the danish death metal band ‘Baest’ and their new album ‘venenun’. They are on the rise in Denmark and Europe, probably the most talentet band coming out of Denmark right now.
We don’t produce a lot of metal bands, so i would love for these guys to get some reconition. They deserve it.

Chase has evolved into a straight zombie coyote this album, GRIMY
I checked the album and it's very ... "middle ground", for lack of a better word. It's not that cavernous, atmospheric, alien filth, nor is it the polished, catchy, poppy "death metal".
They do the classic death metal formula, meaning a good mix of stomping grooves, eerie melodies, thrashy brutality... a bit of Stockholm, some Gothenburg, a portion of Finnish doom, you know the checklist.
I'm left with a lukewarm feeling. I mean, I looooove me some death metal that's done well, and "Deserted" is a well executed album. Yet, there's that thin line between something that's good and something that's kinda predictable...
Great tracks: "From The Ashes" and "Absence Of Light".

I'm just glad we are getting more bands putting out records with the old school death metal sound... I can't stand modern death metal or tech death.. I hate it. But Gatecreeper is a breathe of fresh air.

Boring, overhyped band. Wait until the new blood incantation drops next month. Just saw them on tour last week with immolation. That will be death metal album of the year, believe that!
I like Brad but I seriously find his reviews unwatchable. The delivery is really clunky (in many sections it's like he's trying to slowly and distinctly say each word to avoid tripping over them) and the overuse of hokey adverbs just makes for these sentences that are a chore to get through, and it bums me out because I love Gatecreeper and I wanted to see a good in depth but entertaining review from like Blayne or Sarah. Album is great, review no bueno.
