I really enjoyed that, Thankyou very much. It was such an incredible game & incredibly important game too, & I think you’ve done it justice with this retrospective. I do hope you continue the series & do MM, WW & TP too. Thanks again
Thank you so much for the kind words. This won't be the last. In the mean time i have other retrospectives to hopefully interest and entertain you. Old school Nintendo. I appreciate you watching to the end. Stay Nerdporeal!
it was really nice to hear your friend marty’s perspective of his experience with Oot. i thought it was really cool that he was child Links age when he first played. it reminded of being 5-6 years old playing wind waker for the first time and thinking to my self, “ this kid isn’t much older then me, if the world was different maybe i would be the kid who traverses through any evil to save hyrule”. i was so immersed in the world of zelda that a lot of the times i would feel as if i had become Link. i still will play zelda for hours and a lot of the time i still get the same feeling that i has become link for a few hours. no matter how many times i play any zelda game, i will always become Link
I was that age when I first played the original Legend of Zelda and Zelda II and I was immersed in both those games, but they were too difficult for me to beat, so I ended up beating A Link to the Past years before I beat those. But Yeah, we bonded over that game and are friends to this day and I am grateful that he was willing to collaborate with me on this and share his own personal story.
@@Nerdporeal A link to the past was my second game i played just days after wind waker. i remember analyzing each frame of link sprite so i could try to see any personality within him. i looked up to Link a lot as a kid. so much so i tried to get my parents to change my name to his haha
In many ways, Breath of The Wild tried to reimagine the original Legend of Zelda. One where a sprawling open world, one designed to explore, was the main feature. From Link to The Past, and then perhaps best seen in Ocarina of Time, the games changed. They benched open world exploration for a thematic experience built around a linier story and dungeon progression. In this way, you actually see that BoTW has returned to traditional Zelda roots. OoT was actually quite a departure from those roots.
Original Zelda had dungeons with doors and keys. BOTW is a massive departure from all the other games including the original. The game is a typical open world with exploration that does not incentive the player enough. Treasures are lame, enemies lack variety and the shrines do not cut it. The lack of tools and a sense of progression is what hurts this game.
You know, going back to ocarina of time has made me realize something Lots of games that get released take inspiration from the top down zelda games, or the latest breath of the wild. But there's hardly any games that seem to take inspiration from the 3d zeldas, and if they do, they're usually far more linear. The only games I can think of that take inspiration from the ocarina style zeldas are dark cloud, God of war, dark siders, shadow of the colossus, dark souls, the hobbit, and okami (and as I said all these games are a lot more linear and usually have larger worlds that focus less on feeling like a real place.)
I've noticed that too. 3d Zelda is unique in that regard so i was really unhappy when they decided to go the typical open world format which ive seen in many other games. A major loss if they never go back to it, hence my disliking of BOTW
i’ve already watched all 3 parts more than once and i watch them to go to sleep now. thank you for this in depth retrospective. it’s made me pick up ocarina of time again for the first time in a while
@@Nerdporeal No, thank you for making this retrospective. The delivery was so unique and I enjoyed every second of it. I know you're criminally under exposed on RUclips, but you're worthy of being highly viewed here.
What an amazing retrospective! I recently played through the OoT JPN (PAL) version and it was a blast to re-experience this game all over again. I would love to hear more Zelda discussions and/or talk about it with you in the future. I think too many people are sleeping on the Zelda mangas too. I think I might do a story review for those on my channel. I hope to see more retrospectives on other Zelda games. I understand how long it can take to do that 😅
You've done a man's job, sir! Excellent third part to your retrospective. It's the little details like the wonderful sound FX and music that take this game to the next level. How atmospheric is that sandstorm?
My heart broke a little seeing that ad with Robin Williams and his daughter, Zelda. They looked to be having so much fun. He looked so happy.
Yeah, the same for me. That goes to show how great the Zelda series is and him doing the commercial for this was just pure awesomeness

Glad you enjoyed it! Thank You for taking the time to watch this. I will do more in the future.
Awesome video. Happy to be apart of it.
Was awesome!
Finally finished all 3 installments. Incredible recap of such a legendary video game. Great work man, you earned a loyal subscriber! :)

Best Zelda game ever. Wish they would go back to the classic Zelda roots, and there needs to be a remake of this game released on the switch.
Totally agree, I would buy the shit out of a remastered game, but Nintendo seems allergic to money.

A really nice tribute to an important game. Thx for the hard work and memories.

Thank you for checking it out! I do want to do more Zelda content in the future, either Majoras Mask or Links awakening... Too many projects...

Thank you, and welcome to the Continuum!
Is this really a retrospective? Seems more like a 100% walkthrough with boring narration!
Yes.
@@Nerdporeal this was great. Don't worry about him/her. Loved your narration too ☺
