I was here this year, and since i was taking pictures, and video myself i missed a lot of these horses. Thanks for posting videos for those who couldnt make it, and for those of us who were THERE, and were only watching through a lens!
Thank you Lance for some more amazing video. I love the angles, and the way you show off the undulating ground. It's so cool that you voom in enough so that one can see the tack and watch the rider's technique. Just super.... wish there was more. Hope you and you big OTTB are doing well together. Get someone to video YOU when you start eventing. lol
Hi ! I'm a total fan of your videos and I wanted to ask : Could I use some of the clips to do a sort of Tribune to XC ? Of course, I'll give you credits =D
The reason that the grey horse "snip" didn't make it over the first jump was because the rider's reigns were way too long and he was pulling the entire time. Then he hit him with the crop after he goes over the second jump perfectly.
8:45! the man was pulling back and sitting WAY back in the saddle. it wasnt horses fault and he whipped it?! it didnt get enough support from its rider to push it forward. he was pulling and sitting too far back!?!
i think.. you would understand, if you ever jumped this size or rode these high strung powerful eventing horses. 2ft fences and lesson ponies are much, much, much different from high level competition horses and 5ft high, 6ft wide fences, steep banks and hills, and combinations with sharp turns at high speed. Also, they are riding to the fences, maybe not as strong as they normally would, but that is because xcountry is exhausting on the riders, not just the horses.
I love your videos, we know who the horses and riders are approaching the fences, what nation they are from, and then sometimes you post the order of who won. You do the best videos I watch, and I watch a lot of them. Some of the riders were afraid of some of the jumps and didn't give their horses any leg or push them forward, they just sat there with their weight way back on the horses back. The horse had to figure it out himself. Some riders have natural talent or practice bounces and combinations while training and it shows. I am a judge and high-level riding teacher. It pains me to see such sloppy riding at this high of a level.
9:07 ... what a bad rider. His horse solved the situation bevore very well, anyway he was sitting not good all the time. and then he ist whipping him for the good behavior .. poor.
I really hate how allot of these riders ride. They gallop there horses to fences give them no room to take off and then whip them after fences. I mean maybe if you set them up a little more proper... there are so many amazing event riders and then there is a whole bunch of others where your just like how the hell are the professionals. I just feel bad for some of these horses, with the riders hanging on there mouths, yanking them around, and not RIDING them to fences.
the horse balked, seeing the drop and water on the other side, and on the last fence lost some confidence. the rider went to the crop to say he needs to get over the fence and he can do it. also, if you were in such a high level competition, you would want your horse to go over everything and have a shot at winning, right? if you need to use the crop, so be it. this level of riding, i think they know when to use a crop, and how to ride. is also tiring to the riders, causing weaker riding.
why the hell did that guy smack that grey at 5:22 ? thats discusting behaviour as the horse basically pinged a jump and he thought cracking it was good? im appauled!! all he done was have a slip before the water jump. this is why i dont go to these, its all about winning to them.

8:33 please learn how to ride before entering any competitions c:

The only thing i see is the pain that the horses have.
They're not in pain, they are athletes who love their jobs.

TheJackPony actually that's not true. It's not all about winning. It's about having fun with your horse
