This is officially one of the coolest videos on the platform. It's an amazing collection and the curator is a wealth of knowledge. I would love to see sll these pieces in a museum
What a cool video. The guy running the tour was impressive on facts he knew about each vehicle. It baffles me to think they were stored in that building. Thanks, Tom and Crew.
I would be extremely paranoid having them stored in one of those old decrepit buildings. So many transients and general crime in those areas of Detroit. Hope he's got 24 hr guards/surveillance.
What an incredible collection of automotive history. Having lived locally all my life gawking at all the cars at The Henry Ford has always been one of my favorite things and that's on a whole other level. I'd love an opportunity to walk around a place like that sometime and just take it all in. Super cool, thanks Tom.
Only a secret to people who live outside of Detroit. I just wish the Historical Museum could find a way to display these vehicles while maintaining the security needed to protect them. Separately, this gentleman giving the tour is an encyclopedia of KNOWLEDGE! I'll take a tour with him any day of the week.
My first car was a 72 hearse. Originally was powder blue and worked in North Carolina. It was white when i bought it and finished life in NJ. Loved that car. The older hearse coach builds were beautiful. Carved wood panels in the coach (body area) ornate detailing. My hearse has a combo. Hearse/ambulance. Had 2 flip up seats in the back.
Seeing some of these cars bring back GREAT memories! I worked at Pole Town/Hamtramck in the 1990s and was able to see some of the vehicles that for whatever reason were pulled from the assembly line or end of assembly. Some of them were in that room for over a decade and STILL were factory wrapped like the White Cadillac in the beginning of this video. Glad to see so many cool vehicles still being preserved
@@iNeverHadMercy I just recently returned after being at a different plant for a while. Unfortunately Dham was completely gutted from front to back. They cleaned the place out pretty good, I haven’t seen anything like that.
This is awesome. I literally grew up 4 blocks from Fort Wayne. Used to go there once a year untill they closed. The most ironic part is my father used to work at the Clark street plant up untill the day it closed then transferred to Hamtramck facility. This touched on a lot of childhood memories. Thanks so much Tom.
Hey, fellow Delray resident, Fort Wayne isn't closed. I go to Fort Wayne twice a month to see public events held there. I even get many chances to walk inside the many buildings and officers' homes and look around and take a few open souvenirs from them.
This goofy camera guy needs to focus pointing the camera 📷 on the vehicles and let the camera recorder tape the voice of the presenter. Spent too much video time pointing the camera at the faces and bodies, heads of the people standing around the historical vehicles.
Preserving history - that is something one can applaude. 😎👍 Btw: those storage walkarounds are always the best - because there you find the most interesting and weird stuff. Like f.e. the vault of the Peterson museum in L.A.... 🤟
*Collection tours and knowledgeable collectors is some of the best current forms of automotive entertainment HANDS DOWN* Also, this guy clearly had an insider at GM
Great vid. I could follow Dan around there everyday til I could tell him what everything was. He so knowledgeable and loves his job and showing these treasures.
Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.
WOW way past just being cool!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ As a tool and die maker and car builder this was by far the best collection tour I’ve ever imagined 😎 Thanks ❤❤❤❤
We were there two weeks ago and knew this collection was there but didn't know what building they were in. You'd never know looking at the conditions of the old Fort - roofs caving in, trees growing through - the place looks apocalyptic. A shame when you consider Greenfield Village is just a few miles away where historic buildings were brought and reassembled - here's the real thing but its falling down.
Very cool tour you got to go on. Never knew that place existed. Very neat getting to see all of those one offs and low serial number vehicles. Thanks for sharing.
This has been my favorite car collection video. I've seen lots of em, but this time most of those rides were unique or I had never seen them before. Awesome video Tom!!!
Tell me you couldn’t imagine that thing having been bought from Graceland as Elvis’ favorite vehicle to just tool around in…yes I know it’s the wrong year to be possible. I was mainly referring to the *_VELOUR GREATNESS_* and being white with dark-a55 tinted windows.
Jesus Christ! You stumbled upon every man's dream garage and teased us for 26 minutes. Please upload any raw footage you have. Sincerely, Everyone And for the tour guide guy, BRAVO!! He's like an encyclopedia of information!!! Wow he's amazing!!!!
Cheer's Tom, The was bloody cool seeing all that old stuff. Just shows they need to be better funded so they don't need to hide that stuff away from the public. That would get any kid thinking hard on how it works.
Id love to visit and get a tour if possible. I absolutely love the history this guy is just full of knowledge I hope he passes it on to someone that loves as much as he seems to and us fellow car people that appreciate this
Have to say this is why i always feel sad when people say something should be in a museum. That fact is that it means that the item very probably will never go on display and will eventualy be sold too a collector anyway. Museums lock so much fantactic stuff away for so long that it often looses any relivance.
Seems crazy to look at the front seats in the concept version of the Mustang from 63 to me. They’re very close to what the Camaro had in 67 and 68. Really dig the video. 👍
Damn, son !!!!! WTF?? That was like a dream !! The jukebox raised a lot of attention here..so did the Caddi station wagon !! All of it hit it right out of the park for a big base hit.!!!
tom this is the best video i have seen inn a long time and the best one you ever put out. and i just shared it on FB because if the V8 motorcycle and the 63 mustang.
That isn't the only secret Detroit area location where they stored vehicles. This video made me remember sneaking into an underground storage garage in the mid 70's near the Greenfield Village in Dearborn. The location was just off the Henry Ford Museum property. At that time....I wasn't sure if it was a storage facility for Ford or the Museum itself.
The Mustang II is real cool. I got to check it out in the transport trailer when shipping a car around 20 years ago. I like building custom cars and chopping tops , I thought it was a custom at first then the driver told me about it.
I remember as a kid thinking how could you preserve a car I thought driving it into a huge plastic bag and sealing it from the outside elements, crazy to see an automobile collection in plastic bags
We need more automotive museums in the world so many cool old cars each with their own stories to be told. I've been to the studebaker museum in south bend Indiana more times then I can remember but I know there's other car museums I would love to visit.
I agree Bob... "wow". Nuff said. I love how Bob cant get enuf of the tour. If Bob is missing ever in his lifetime... we can find him here, sleeping like a baby on any back seat, of these fine cars.
I would think Jay Leno should have his choice of something in the collection that he’s interested in and if It matched the plans for the future of the collection, it might fund other projects.
There's a few companies that make them. It has a drive on mat and then you zip the clear bubble onto the mat and it has a built in fan you plug in so it keeps the bubble inflated to control humidity and keep dust out.
Jay Leno would have a field day in there. I would like to have the red one that I believe he called a Cobra Cougar and that Firebird. They are beautiful cars. Even that Mustang II! Sad they are all hidden away, they need to be on display.
Interesting "dust bubbles", (I will call them), around many of the cars, to keep them from the elements. Almost "Sci-FY". I wonder how well they hold air, (They do look a bit fragile/thin to me), and how many he had to fix/blow up before the show? Just in a good mood. A great find in Detroit. Can you imagine what that city was like (and all cities), when they were growing, thriving and new? Does all this societal decay show that "We Did", (not too long ago, for enough time for people to live it, and us see what is left),----"Live better lives"? Ehhhhhh. "Progress" they call it.
That’s an insane collection. What are the vehicles worth? Many millions all the way to priceless. Want a new Caddy? They have the head start to a couple. Simply amazing stuff. The Cobra cars would be zillions at a good auction. As a whole, it blows your mind.
This is officially one of the coolest videos on the platform. It's an amazing collection and the curator is a wealth of knowledge. I would love to see sll these pieces in a museum
they can live in a museum and on the road
What a cool video. The guy running the tour was impressive on facts he knew about each vehicle. It baffles me to think they were stored in that building. Thanks, Tom and Crew.
That's how broke Detroit is as a municipality. Those cars are just stored in old steel rolling buildings. I hope they are well guarded.
I would be extremely paranoid having them stored in one of those old decrepit buildings. So many transients and general crime in those areas of Detroit. Hope he's got 24 hr guards/surveillance.
Agree they need protection 👍🏼🙋♀️🥹
Tom, this by far is the best video that you have ever recorded. This guy is freaky smart and way knowledgeable on his collection.
This is the best video anyone has ever recorded, my God!!
What an incredible collection of automotive history. That was unbelievable ! What a fantastic glimpse into what was. Thanks for that , much appreciated.
Makes you wonder (being Detroit) how many other collections like this are sitting in buildings, great stuff. Thanks
Only a secret to people who live outside of Detroit. I just wish the Historical Museum could find a way to display these vehicles while maintaining the security needed to protect them.

I’m there now.
@@Pranks313 awesome! Did you ask “to see the back storage room” ? It’s gotta still be there 🫢
@@iNeverHadMercy I just recently returned after being at a different plant for a while. Unfortunately Dham was completely gutted from front to back. They cleaned the place out pretty good, I haven’t seen anything like that.
@@Pranks313 It's all good. You have a career position that will reap rewards 💰💯
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE that they took all these awesome cars and made them into Macy's Parade Day balloons

All that should be in a museum open to the public. Some amazing, one-off historical pieces with great stories behind them.

Cool tour, knowledgeable guide, rare METAL we never seen or heard of = nice vid!

The host, tour guide is one of the most knowledgeable guides I've ever listen to. Go back and do a longer tour brother.
Thank you very much for that amazing chance to see such rare vehicles mate.
Incredible collection. Thanks for taking us along!
Don't let Steve Morris find out they have wagons in there.😱
😂

😂😂😂😂😂😂
That was awesome, I can't believe all the treasures inside those buildings!
The Cadillac wagon with the tufted way back seat was amazing!
Awesome video! Crazy how much info the tour guide knows about every vehicle
Jesus Christ! You stumbled upon every man's dream garage and teased us for 26 minutes. Please upload any raw footage you have.

And for the tour guide guy, BRAVO!! He's like an encyclopedia of information!!! Wow he's amazing!!!!
What equally or more impressive than all of the machines, is the knowledge of the guy giving the tour!! How does one retain that much info??

Really nice stuff to see there. I'm amazed they have so many I climate bags. Thanks for sharing.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Awesome look behind the curtains of a museum. I could spend days in that place!
Pretty cool!!! The hair curler is a 1950's perm machine it need the rods that go with it to make it work. I have 2 of them on display in my lobby
That is the best video you have shared
That 63 Concept Mustang was by far my favorite. That should have gone into production. THANKS FOR SHARING TOM.
He doesn't even drive it Ferris, he just rubs it with baby diapers. Oooh yeah
I am glad to see that place exists. Great content 👍
Excellent tour Tom, thanks!
Those were pretty cool cars in there thanks for letting us see them Tom and team because a guy from Alaska would have never been able to see them
This content was too damn good!!!! loved the tour
Man I love this history of automotive stuff. Great video.
Dave is a stand up dude and a helluva car builder as well
I hope they have the world’s best security system! That place needs to be preserved and protected.
I like the pontiac fiero. I actually had one when I was 16 it was an 86 GT, which is a very fun car to drive
Seems crazy to look at the front seats in the concept version of the Mustang from 63 to me. They’re very close to what the Camaro had in 67 and 68. Really dig the video. 👍
Love the GM history and technology that’s been saved 👍🥰. Awesome video
Man I wish I had known about this place when I lived in Detroit! Would have been great to volunteer there!
The camera man wants to film everything but the cars 💀💀😂
I can't believe that car/bike was made in 1913,even the early 60s v8 front wheel drive awesome video guys.
Wow those Cadillacs are amazing 👏
Keep up the good work love these videos. Bobby is a great fab guy . He is awesome
That was one of the rarest vids of prototype preproduction cars I've ever seen !! That man is a walking encyclopedia thank you sir ! And thank you Tom
that was incredible! Thanks for sharing!!
Damn, son !!!!! WTF?? That was like a dream !! The jukebox raised a lot of attention here..so did the Caddi station wagon !! All of it hit it right out of the park for a big base hit.!!!

I could spend days in here from the cars to his knowledge I wouldn't wanna leave
This was an incredible collection, even better to hear the story behind each piece of history.
Wow... ! Thanks for sharing... Awesome to see hidden gems...
Jay Leno should be notified of this place, I'm sure he would start writing checks immediately.!

The Caddy Station Wagon Won Me FOR SURE!!!!!! awesome video 😎
The small cups on the engine of the Scripps-Booth ‘motorcycle’ were for priming the engine with gasoline.
Man that was some interesting content thanks Tom.
Thanks for sharing. I think I've seen that place in another video. I can't recall who featured it, but it's a cool place for sure.
OK so, is this part of any museum or organization or is this all private, this is an amazing collection of history
thanks for sharing this
The Mustang II is real cool. I got to check it out in the transport trailer when shipping a car around 20 years ago. I like building custom cars and chopping tops , I thought it was a custom at first then the driver told me about it.
I sure hope there is a kick ass fire suppression system in that building!
I live 5 minutes away from the historic fort and had NO IDEA there was something this amazing and mysterious there

Dave is an unbelievable wealth of knowledge
I was in there 20 years ago to pick up a 1904 olds to restore for the museum. I can remember all those cars just sitting there exposed.
I agree Bob... "wow". Nuff said. I love how Bob cant get enuf of the tour. If Bob is missing ever in his lifetime... we can find him here, sleeping like a baby on any back seat, of these fine cars.

WOW This is beyond awesome thanks Tom Bailey
I actually worked on the caddillac wagons in the factory.. I did the mirror and coat hooks in it.. they were beautiful.. but they still shut us down..
Hey I know Dave I used to work with him at the Proving Grounds in Romeo Michigan. Great guy.
Now I've seen it all: A good looking Mustang!
Incredible historical collection folks…..Just Wow!
This is an incredible and amazing collection. Thank you for sharing
I spent a lot of time at the Detroit Historical Society as a kid, great place
WOW very cool video lots of amazing cars and history
That guy doing thr tour knows so much. Its awesome.
That’s amazing!!! I would to be able to get a tour like that!
Ain’t that craft cheese and macaroni 😅 Dome around the cars too keep good 👍 wow nice macaroni 😊
I would think Jay Leno should have his choice of something in the collection that he’s interested in and if It matched the plans for the future of the collection, it might fund other projects.
What a cool museum. Is it open to the public for tours...??? How did they get the cars into the bubbles and then inflate them.??
There's a few companies that make them. It has a drive on mat and then you zip the clear bubble onto the mat and it has a built in fan you plug in so it keeps the bubble inflated to control humidity and keep dust out.
Jay Leno would have a field day in there. I would like to have the red one that I believe he called a Cobra Cougar and that Firebird. They are beautiful cars. Even that Mustang II!

Oops. 11:45 You were not suppose to be back that far, not suppose to see the flat. :)
19:50 just look at the front end guys... Wow, how different is that.. ✌️👍🇬🇧
Great video I'm not a Ford guy but that mustang was really nice I wish they would have made that car I loved the chopped top and the front-end.
