- The team tackle the controversial case of Derek Bentley who was hanged after shouting the ambiguous phrase "Let him have it", causing his friend to shoot and kill a police officer. Apparently, this is Rob's favourite sketch that he did with the group.

Ha ha ha ha this is too funny "in the sense of put a red bucket on your head and do a little dance"! 🤣
made me chuckle ... 3 times no less!!!
Best gag is the dog bit imo
as the law stood at the time, bentley was guilty of a capital offense, like it or not thats how the world was-history is full of cases where people were executed then, whereas today their crimes would be sen as trivial-200 years ago you were hung for stealing £10-however, bentley always denied saying let him have it, craig always denied hearing it-thats how the defence should have gone, not what it meant, whether it ever happened
My drama class started watching it today aswell :D
I immediately thought of this lol
Bentley was murdered for revenge, nothing more. The justice system failed him because in 1950s England coppers were in short supply, the war had taken its toll and we were in a state of rebuilding. Loads of ww1 & ww2 home guard weapons were stolen, hence this tragedy, due to an ignorant middle class 16 year old who dragged his poorer friend into his fantasy world of gangs & guns. Derek had the mental age of 11 & an IQ of 66. Even the jury recommended mercy!
I know, personaly I find it disgusting how anyone can joke about something like this, Bentley died. Its no joke.
Im sure his relatives wouldnt find this funny either.
Tory Also not forgetting the family of slain PC Sidney Miles, who sacrificed his life for public safety and enforcing law & order. He’s often forgotten by both the media and society.
Also, I don’t believe this case would of received so much publicity & exposure for 45 years in the public eye, had Bentley had an average IQ & his mental age was appropriate & in-sync with his actual age of 19 and if he wasn’t an epileptic.
According to Craig (who broke his silence after a 37-year silence with the media) & other police witnesses who were on the Croydon rooftop on 2nd November, 1952, the 5 words “Let Him Have It Chris” was never even uttered by Bentley.
-Craig @ age 16 was too young to hang. Bentley was 19 & the next best thing for vengeance by the Croydon police 👮♂️ @ the time.
Iris Bentley sadly died in 1997, a year before her younger brother Derek received his posthumous pardon which she dedicated & tirelessly campaigned for.
Your teacher rocks Kriz!
what happened to derek bently was awful, but i cant help but find this sketch hilarious
Yeah well he admitted it at the time though didn't he?it's the authorities who decided to hang Bentley regardless of what Craig said. They have as much to answer for
He's an author, written a few books I think
What happened to Rob Newman. all the others went onto do different stuff, he vanished?
To hell with these guys- this was a very funny sketch, and thank you for adding it!

nooo! I thought you meant shoot him in the sense of "put a bucket on your head and do a little dance!" hahahahaha
IMO Mary whitehouse experience is one of the all time greats
Ha your comment nearly identical to mine! You were first but I didn't see your comment till after I posted.
This is not funny, but I know the story from "Murder Casebook."
Craig served 11 years, was released, and became a successfull plumber in Bedfordshire. Until the late 1990's, he NEVER spoke of the events that put him in the law books.
One question remains... was there a third boy on the roof? Did that unknown boy shoot the two policemen?
MondoBeno Craig served only 10 years not 11 & he broke a near 40-year silence with the media in 1991, not the late ‘90s.
Shite its bad enough taking the piss out of the whole Derek Bentley thing, but this isnt even funny. They wouldnt be laughing so much if they found Pierrepoint giving them their 9am alarm call
lol okay that was cute
i had to do a whole terms worth of drama work on that phrase 'Let him have it' which ended in a 15 min long re-enactment of Capital Punishment and the story of Derek Bentley - Intresting topic i must say but after 4 months of work on it it got a little annoying
otherwise cute sketch and it is sad what happened to derek i dont think he diserved it
i agree
this is well funny
he is now 70 years old and has apologized for his actions he got bentley pardoned in 1999 too bloody late if u ask me!
namestɅge Christopher Craig is now 84 as he was born 20th May 1936.
When you posted your comment 12 years ago you stated Craig’s age as 70, when in actual fact he would of been 72, when you wrote your comment.
With all due respect ✊, either you’re ignorant of Craig’s age or you’re terrible at arithmetic.
Also you stated that Bentley was pardoned in 1999, when in actual fact it was a year earlier in 1998.
omg i might piss this is so funny
whatever happened to the real Chris Craig?

Apology accepted :)
That has got to be the worst thing I've seen on U-Tube for a long time and I despise and dislike cheap humor of that sort
