I hear ya… I grew up on a farm and didn’t have indoor plumbing for a time. We canned and jarred, grew a garden, got up early to milk the cows, in bed late milking cows.. split wood, and had a shovel and pick in my hands a lot..among many other traditional methods of living and working.. I’ve heard people say that no one has lived that way in generations.. lol most people are really out of touch from reality and don’t know what they are talking about.

I am an author and my agent wrote all of her clients last year asking if they were OK with books being translated into Hebrew in Israel and dealing with those publishers after what happened with Hamas. I wrote her back that yes I was fine with it. Today she sent the email again just double checking that with the current state of things I was still OK with getting my books translated into Hebrew. 😮

We've been blessed in that we had about seven of the 50 gallon water barrels and then decided to get some of those big honey barrels which are very easy to clean out with vinegar. We bought two of them, if they could handle being filled with honey then water is no problem. They're 255 gallons filled but I probably have maybe 240 in both of them. And I gave away two of the 50 gallon barrels. One to a poorer family that lives down the street and one to my son who lives in town but he has access to all kinds of stuff anyway. Water is the most important commodity you can have. Like Travis says, you need water.
And by the way those honey barrels are very thick plastic and metal reinforced cages around them. We paid $115 a piece. Took me two days to clean them out but it only took a gallon of vinegar in each one and they cleaned up real good. Worth the money for sure

But from what you have said it sounds like you are in an area that people are close to you to do these things and it's an unsafe area. That's why I suggested to get land away from people who will steal you food and damage your property.
