Great insight from Jacob, feeling less confident now knowing more about Emery’s tactics, can’t see us purposely sitting back. Good head to head for dominance which we can win if everyone plays their part as they have been doing recently. Well done Kirk for another great interview
Villa fan here guys, great podcast. This is a really tough fixture as recent history will attest to, Bournemouth seem to have our number at the moment and I’m pretty sure this game won’t be any different. Our away record isn’t great but we managed to beat spurs last week and if we can put together a run of form like we have at Villa Park then there’s no reason why we can’t gatecrash the top 4. One thing is for sure this will be a test for both sides and it’ll be interesting to see 2 master tacticians going head to head.
This was a fair assessment I think. We will have to rejig the team as Kamara is suspended and Watkins is a doubt. We also have Douglas Luiz one card away from suspension, which might inhibit him with Man City and Arsenal games up after this one. I expect Bournemouth to score one goal, because we always seem to let our opponents do that, so it's just a matter of how many Villa can get. It won't be easy as Bournemouth have definitely improved, and we have a poor recent record in Dorset, but with JJ and Moreno back we will pose a bigger goal threat, and we are already the second highest scorers in the league. I expect Villa will have enough to get over the line again, but it'll be another good test.
Its also not weird how we can't keep a clean sheet. It's because we're always trying to play the offside trap and it's risk vs reward. Maybe we should both take up football journalism. Shouldn't be long until we're writing for The Athletic.
Like to think you listened to my reasoning "conserving energy levels" straight after that which added context to your comment - which I do write about, often
@@jacobtanswell3601you were of course right. Even against Burnley, and some of our home matches we've had stretches of looking poor. We still win. The only thing I take issue with is you putting a price tag on Luiz, he's not for sale!
@@jacobtanswell3601 Just seen this section, you were very complimentary in that section. I agree that at times we really do just step on the ball, keep possession, soak up a little pressure to see out the game.
@@jacobtanswell3601 I did. 'Conserving energy levels' is quite different to playing poorly and only playing well in a couple of games....Conserving energy is called tactical game management. That said Villa have been poor at times and still managed to win so I take your point there
