Thanks man. I couldn't get the base plate off. The cam weight was binding. Good spray of contact cleaner did the job, like brand new instead of in the bin kudos.
Volodymyr, if you can believe it, I have a Makita Model M903 - OPM 7000 which we purchased in 1986 and it has been used year round by my whole family every year since! My son-in-law recently borrowed it as part of a huge deck refinishing project on he and my daughter’s home. When it came back, I felt pity for it and decided to do a complete overhaul. When I went to get get parts, it has been so long since Makita’s were red like mine, the Makita dealer told me i was wrong - i must have a Milwaukee. Ha ha! Now that I’m done, the tool looks very good, runs like a top, and I will never sell it. It is built so well - no internal plastic parts, but i should remember to repack the bearings and re-grease it at least once a decade. Quality. Does anyone now how to build it now? Sigh.
