Audi have no direction. If i was Carlos i'd wait to see how competitive Williams are with their upgrades over the next 2 races. If they were 15kg overweight and have sorted it then they could beat merc with the old suspension. I would love it if that happened.
F1 considering the corruption may use new design regulations to give one team or manufacture the upper hand. If a strong Ferrari Team is ideal for F1, maybe insiders are betting on a Scuderia driver to win.
I believe these regs are more focused on the engine so that teams can make a difference on that part like Mercedes did when the hybrid era started, later the regs were more focused on Aero. I think they need to switch their attention between these two fields in order to please all involved, the teams and the engine suppliers. And maybe its a sneaky way to try and send Newey into retirement by creating less exciting aero regs, cause nobody can do what Adrian does with ground effect cars. I also heard that there are problems with getting accurate sim setups with ground effect regs, which might explain why a guy with a notebook is beating all those young guns with computers.
Hilarious, the current regs within less than 3 years have given us 4 teams fighting at the front. They are not a failure at all. The cost cap and aero sliding scale seem to be working and although the cars can't follow as well as they did in 2022 they can still do it a darn sight more than 2014-2021 when they could manage 1 lap behind before the tyres were done. Just look at how long the cars could fight each other for in Canada. Max was within 1 second of George for a long time in the first stint. Likewise with fights between Lando/Max, lando/George, George/piastri etc
Ay? Santa doesn't exist? @CameronF1 proper miffed, mate. Either way Sainz is delusional if he doesn't grab that Audi seat. The only team that has information on the synthetic fuel in racing IS Audi.
Perez vs Bottas is more of a debate than Baxty claims. Similar drivers in my opinion. Lewis still has nightmares about Checo in Abu Dhabi 21 while Bottas was back in 13th...
Checo himself didn't lose them the constructors, RB boxing him at the end of AD for 0 reason was the reason why they lost, else they would have won it. The trade no one talks about.
Thank merc for the ground effect failure. They should have doubled down on ground effect and gave the teams spec electric fans for the underfloor. 🤷♂️
4:24 - You could also argue for success of 2022 ground effects era compared to previous era: RBR dominance in current rule set not as durable as was Mercedes when power unit was main differentiator. If this turns into a state-of-charge management competition (like Formula e), with engine as a MGU-K generator, everyone will go nuts and Stefano will get his way with NA V-8s powered by "sustainable" fuels in 2030. Interesting that there's been no mention of how new aero formula might affect potential for wet racing.
I just watched a program on James Vowles, I'm telling anyone who will listen to keep a close eye on Williams this next series of regulations. They get Carlos WITH Albon?! They are poised to be as competitive in mid field as any of those teams. We all saw what McLaren have dome coming out of the middle of the pack, Williams used to be one of the most respected names in racing. I dont think anyone told James Vowles they were supposed to be fighting for positions in the back. He is trying to build a Championship team. Scoff all you want now. But after the interview I saw with him, I can promise you he is as serious as a Heart Attack. ❤
My prediction for the new rules is that they are going to be as much a "failure" as the current rules, if not a little worse. I think most people have the wrong expectations of how fast a ruleset can be judged to be a failure or a success. Rules should be given at least 3 seasons bc teams need to settle down and converge and only after that can you give an objective judgement on the rule set. And as a result of this I think the new rule set will produce another team that dominates for the first 3 years. Where I think the new rules may be a little worse is that it is unknown what kind of racing the new rule set will produce. It could be better but I'm not confident it will be better. The new engine regulations are not good and I hope that I'm wrong
So did the 2014 regulation work? When one team dominated everything for the following eight years. It was boring then as well. Why is it boring when the team and driver that you like are no longer dominant?
Laughing at how there is an expectation for the FIA to be the be all and end all of presentations. FIAs job is to make the rules, FOMs job is to fo the entertaining
@CameronF1. you are 1000% correct... but that's the dilemma of the FIA in the year that is 2-0-2-4 They as an organization are the most important when it comes to setting the rules, applying the rules, and being responsible for most of the top motorsports in the world. And yet they are constantly looked down on, people dont know who they are (and what they do) so they have little to no funding, which leads to Austria penalty gate (lack of money for stewards), which leads to bad press, which leads to no faith from the masses, which leads to no funding. RUclips is their only real free way to try and garner some sort of influence. No influence means irrelevance. IRRELEVANCE means we begin questioning why they exist It's one of those paradoxical things
F1’s obsession with engine manufacturers has gotten so out of hand. There have been four for years now and it’s been absolutely fine. They’re trying to fix problems that don’t exist and ignoring enormous ones. Adding an Audi engine would bring nothing to the sport, yet they’re bending over for VW. Embarrassing. They even want to force Andretti to have a GM engine.
@@Visual_Ghoul meh. The next pair of drivers may win in the backs of Nico and Carlos’s efforts but the two of them will never get anywhere. Time is not on their side.
The cars are still to heavy. The hybrid is a flop. A v8 with bio fuels would make sense. Extending the rules for another 2 years would be wonderful. Everyone merges and creates even more competition. It also reduces the costs. All these changes aren’t necessary
If you want close racing, stop chasing the Rogers. Yes there will be a dominant team at the start but history has also shown that the field starts to converge the longer the same rules are in play.
I knew Sainz was going to blow it. Said it a month ago. Audi courted him, and he let the Hulk sign first. Now his only options are trash. He should have signed to the company that would have given him everything, plus he was coming off that win. A win that had everyone overestimating his entire season.
23:18 lmafo bottas not doing the job to help Lewis win the 8th, do you not remember Hungary? When bottas torpedoed max and Perez out of the race, after silverstone when Lewis did the same.. 50 points lost for max… bottas came in like a wrecking ball hahaha
With Sainz , i understand the Williams move. Most likely banking on mercedes engine being dominant in 2026.
great podcast. Thanks for making this episode.

Maybe Newey on its way to Williiams as well?
AMG being the 3rd or 4th fastest Mercedes team would be something. It’s still not clear whether they understand the car yet
People talking about convergence... Meanwhile saying F1 is about innovation... pick one or the other... or allow for both
There will always be better engineers, drivers, pit crews, etc even if only one 3rd party built all the cars
F1 considering the corruption may use new design regulations to give one team or manufacture the upper hand. If a strong Ferrari Team is ideal for F1, maybe insiders are betting on a Scuderia driver to win.
Great as always!
I have to agree VB77 in #2 seat RBR would be CONSTRUCTORS AUTOWIN!!

It wasn't a team being dominant it was just one driver called Max Verstappen!

Ahoy, What's going on with Audi?
Id actually really like to see Sainz and Hulk at Audi
20 cm shorter, 10 cm narrow. Big change. The a 50% electric powertrain. Adjustable aero trains. Time to follow Indy.
So you say RebBull depending on Honda engines did a wonderful job compared to Ferrari and Merc. 😂😂😂
the 3 LuLu preachers together...what a fest!

I feel bad for Carlos but I think he over played his hand a bit.
He didn't really have many options. Williams would be better than Audi though. Seidl doesn't know what he's doing.

Bring back A1 GP😅
Great content, but the ASMR delivery is creepy.
Sainz career looking much like Ric, choosing/leaving teams at wrong time
