Making a harp from household objects

- This is a little personal project rather than an instructional video.
My aim was to make a harp inspired by an Adungu harp, spending as little money as possible on tools and materials.
There were a few bumps along the way, and moments when I didn't know what to try next, but I'm really pleased with the end result.
Materials:
Plastic container with a clip on lid
Wooden spatula
Bamboo skewers
Fishing line
Tools:
Craft knife
Scissors
Tape measure
I got a bit fed up editing this video so I didn't go looking for good music to use. I therefore recommend muting until the point where I'm tuning at the end.
Nice little project. Brought back memories when I was 9 years old and did this. Mine was a violin made out of a swing set seat. 60 years later I still make instruments (nickelharpas to pipe organs) and love every minute of it!!
Did it work? The violin I mean. I wanna make my own diy violin for a music video and am researching how
@@kurokitsune6173 - The easiest way is to use a cigar box and a dowel. Check out C.B. Gitty for parts. They are a great source for DIY instrument making. Also check out Shane Speal on RUclips.
@@fnersch3367 Thankyou. I'll take a look :)
Made this today with rubber bands, worked great for my daughter's 4th grade music project.
The most impressive is how you tuned it just right. Good job!
Yesterday I built 1-stringed bass guitar thing out of bucket, thin rope, a plank, 2 nails and couple of pieces of wood to get everything lined up properly (instrument is lying on ground and stairs and parts are not attached to each others). And it works!
and you will always have somewhere for your packed lunch.
Genius 😆
Well done! 👍
I had a dream I played on a homemade harp and it somewhat resembled this one, so Im going to try to make it one of these days.
me too
Our Creator gave you a beautiful mind. Thanks for sharing!💓really cool!
how did u tune it. i need help with tuning mine i dont know how to tune it
Greatest video I've ever seen
Does the base have to be a tupperware or no? I dont have enough money to buy one and my mom wont let me use the ones we have
Great. Adungus rock!
This is genius. Have u put it outside to see if the wind plays it?How about making a harp that could attach to a modern window? A window that pushes out and the wind harp could be attached to the under side safely..wind harps need to be in everyone's home.
Should I twist the fish string before fixing it at the bottom of the lid? How can I fix the strings firmly with the sticks at the bottom of the lid?
so creative!!
Ya
Ellie, make one from a tin biscuit box! Will resonate better!
What did you to the bottom of the lid with the bamboo sticks and the string??
Omg it was fishing line fuckkk that was I need
Then music is actually pretty good
Cool!
Thanks.
how far apart did you measure the strings?
Lily Munoz I think it was about 15mm. There wasn't much method to it though, I just did what fitted well into the space I had.
EllieMcLay thank you !
Nice attempt kid, esp. with the tricky tuning peg part
but be careful with the cutting tool next time, it worries me how the blade is always very close your bare hands
P A U L P A U L im pretty sure that shes not a kid...
@@ventite I'm pretty sure it was a joke
does it work in the wind tho?
I WONT BE ABLE TO MAKE THIS, I NEED A FISHING LINE
no a fishing line is nylon
it look a lot like an arched harp
so like a diy saung gauk
hi you are good
Anyone know where I csn find fish line? XD
Just mostly sporting goods places in general or you could just go to walmart or something
Amazon
In Australia we have BCF, Anaconda and Kmart. If you have any similar stores in your country, that would be where you find fishing line.
Hi
