Man with a Bike in Iceland wow. We where with a camper Van for 13 days there. And you went trough Iceland with a bike. This is amazing wow. The country is beautiful
Beautiful country, and the most intimate way to experience it. No hesitation would go again
very chill film. makes me want to travel again.
Thanks!! You should!
This is one of my dreams...I have cycled more that 50 000km al over the word...lets hope I can make this dream come true...I enjoyed this one !!!
That's incredible!! One day hope to have that many miles under our belts. Glad you enjoyed the video! First long form one I've edited like this
Another epic video!
Thanks David!
Sam Bikeman-Fried! Great trip and video.
Fantastic footage / trip ❤
Awesome video.. keep up the good work !!
Appreciate it! Glad you enjoyed
great ride. Been watching some bikepackers trailing iceland, indeed my dream ride!
Get after it!! Best trip ever, I'd definitely go again
car moments were the most interesting yay !
Enjoy guys. Nice video
Enjoyed
Well done on your epic adventure, i really enjoyed coming along for the ride. I was in Iceland 🇮🇸 once before and drove from Reykjavík to Vik. It really is a beautiful country and makes me want to get my touring bike off the wall lol
Do it! Don't forget your rain gear, and hope you enjoy riding into the wind!
Nice work!
Thank you! Cheers!
THE EVENT SEA TO SUMMIT BAG IS TRHE BEST FRONT ROLL BAG OUT THERE
Sleeping bags were dry whole trip, so no complaints from us!
I remember talking to you about this trip during the our wedding shoot . So glad it qll worked out . Footage is great 👍
Trip was fantastic Tom, thanks for watching the film!!
Reminds me of my bike trip this autumn that lasted only 5 days because of strong winds, the rest of 2 weeks did it also with a car lol. The drone shots were sick
all part of the adventure!
Awesome trip guys. I just discovered your channel.. 🔔
Love bike packing. The only hobby you spend a fortune to live like a bum.
Trips are cheap though after that, only flights and food if you plan it right! There are worse things to spend money on
Fk me, you’d need to sleep with your head under the roaring river to not hear Armin snore!!! That is why Michael was waking up tired. 🤣🤣🤣
Sick trip and camera work.
Thank you! Difficult to balance that, and enjoy the trip, but turned out alright this time! Appreciate you watching
Would be awesome 😎

We were in Iceland in July scouting a route out. And for my daughter's 11th birthday we did an 11 day self-supported ride. Our kids are now 15 and 19 so yes it will likely be tough for them but we still want to give it a try. thx.
15 and 19 is totally doable, it's all about how fit they are. We ran into families with kids ages 12-14 bikepacking in Iceland - and we thought our trip was tough!! Just make sure you prepare for the worst part: rain and wind. Mentally it was difficult, but it was great to ride it out with a good partner that kept spirits high. Cheers!
Note to self..... screen sleepmates for snoring disorders!!! LoL
Oops... Or better earplugs!!
Thank you, dear, sir, so very much for sharing your Icelandic bike packing! Best regards from Sweden! Cycling around Iceland is now on my bucket list, I have done the circle around Iceland by rental car for ten days in 1992! The best road trip I ever experienced! I so much appreciate your top-class bike packing video and I like all the smallest details that make your video so valuable when planning for a bike packing coming trip! God bless you both most richly! By the way, is there any channel to see Michel´s podcast/or YT-channel? Best regards from Sweden! 💯❤👍👍🤏
Hey thank you! Michael doesn't have a RUclips or podcast, but I'll let him know you're requesting one. Safe travels!
What was the road like for cycling from Keflavik Airport into Reykjavik? Heard there's one part with no decent shoulder, and wondered if you guys thought it was a problem or no big deal.
It was busy, but the shoulder was significantly bigger than the rest of the ring road. The stretch from like Hella to Vik was super busy and very scary. Lots of big trucks and RV's and some of them didn't care to give us space unfortunately. Had to ride single file for most of it.
Michael you need to use a CPAP dude. You will notice that you will have more energy and think faster
This is so wondeeful. Thanks for sharing. Will be doing The Rift coming July nexrt year. I think we have the same bike. What sizeare your crankarms? I have a size small bike with 170mm lenght. Thanks
I think it's the stock 172.5mm but after my bike fit, that will probably change
@@arminkorsos thank you.. I subbed
Great job guys...looks like you did it right. Any clothing recommendations for a trip like this?
Making a gear breakdown video soon! It's a long topic
Incredible video guys, top notch work.
What hydration pack are you using?
USWE for Michael, I had a bladder in the bottom triangle pocket of my frame bag. Rig / equipment video coming soon!
what was the name of the store where you left the bike cases? or do all bike stores accept to storage the cases? (if you know, am planing to do a similar trip :D) thanks! and amazing! cheers!
We left them at the Geysir car rental office, right outside of the airport. I'd say most if not all car rental places will let you store bags there for a fee.
hey could you list the bags you used for storage? Or what you did with storage attached to the handlebars to be more specific? Thanks!
I'm making an separate detailed rig breakdown video, coming soon! For the front I used a rack, and it had my sleeping bag in a dry bag, part of the tent, and camera gear. To be specific, the front bags included: Sea to Summit E-Vent drybag for sleeping bag, Sea to Summit dry bag for tent interior, Mountain Hardwear sling bag, and Oveja Negra front bag for extra bars and other accessories. They all sat on top of my rack, strapped to the bars for support so they didn't swing around. Voile straps helped a ton, I highly recommend getting a few in different lengths!
What theeeee heck!! Guys, first of all I want to say congrats for the effort and second ''Its about the journey not the miles''. In the last days I saw you have been to plane wreck.. and I tough ''they will go to Solheimajokull (ive been there with the bike and done some ice climbing (cause i dind had a car lol) , it is verry close to Skogafoss 1h'ish biking to the glacier) And guys!!! I've worked at Skogafoss Hotel 1 year ago and I used to take my lunch breaks in that small room where you guys left your bike. Hhahahaha what a small world! nice video, I hope one day I will return to Iceland to make a similar bikepacking trip like u !! sorry for my eng btw :)
That's amazing! The staff there was really helpful. We don't know what we would have done without the help of storing the bikes at the hotel. Thanks for watching!
@@arminkorsos yeah they are really nice guys! Looking forward to see more bikepack video for you guys ✌
@@niculesculazar6728 Might be planning some new ones...
It looks like an epic place beyond words. So hardcore you went into the hot springs AND got back out to ride more! Crazy! Lol. But how do you ride in those temps and conditions then tent camp?? Warmly? I think of my winter rides and how cold I am for hours after a hot shower. Any secrets?
Thanks for the comment, the temps were not too bad. About 50f / 10c the whole time on average. Wind and rain was a bigger problem than the temps. When your heart rate is high while riding, you don't get cold. Also most campgrounds had hot showers, hope this helps!
Looks worth visiting! How did you mount the bags at the forks? Did it work well?
Tailfin cargo mounts, medium size I believe. Worked okay. The holes on the Topstone fork don't match up with the Tailfin cargo mounts, so had to drill another one to make it work. Had decent capacity and was perfect for food & cook kit storage.
It looks epic.. your videos are helping a lot I am going this summer. do you need a permit to fly a drone?? I'll appreciate if you could tell us your experience flying a drone in iceland? thanks
Don't need a permit. Very windy. Be safe!
Hey man! Which app did you use as map? Was is Komoot or sth else? Can you share a gpx file or Stava route?
Used my Wahoo Elmnt Roam, routed us using the Strava map maker and synced it there. You can find me on strava if you search my name, and download GPX files from there
Thanks I enjoyed watching this. Your never know but I hope the B stad who stole your battery pack got paid back by Karma.
Hope they're enjoying their charger! Thanks for watching
Greetings from Malaysia, I just want to ask some questions, did you wild camp while in Iceland?. And how did you charge your electronic stuffs ?. I plan to tour Iceland on a bicycle next year and I like your adventure too. Looks extremely fun
We wild camped 1 night, rest were in campgrounds. I charged electronics with a Dynamo Front Hub (Shimano model) which allowed usb charging while moving. Also when we stopped in bakeries or restaurants, we would always charge up our cameras. Hope this helps.
@@arminkorsos I see. I heard that wild camping is not allowed in Iceland is it true ? Some says it is okay to wild camp there as long as we ask for permission.
@@mohamadshahariz9990
Wild camp is completely legal. Camping on someone's property (inside of a fence), you have to ask permission. Where we camped it was "public land", the land isn't private property
@@mohamadshahariz9990 Some of the trails through protected nature areas do not allow Wild Camping so best to check on the area you are going through
Did you buy all brand new equipment for this trip? Lol. Great footage. Thanks for helping me pass the time on the trainer :)
No, had a bunch already. Build it bit by bit!
@@arminkorsos you take way better care of your kit than I do lol.
@@ebbiketrip2497 for example I've had the tent for three years, been to many national parks and on many trips, just have to patch it up when it rips!!
i don't think setting up a tent in dry river bank at 23:00 is a good idea😂
I have to ask: What kind of mudguard do u use ate 1:43?
It's made by ass-savers! Highly recommend and really affordable
What's the music from? Awesome edit.
Artlist.io, Thank you!
Hi. What time of year was your trip please?
July 27 to August 10
Where did you guys stash your bike luggage during the trip?
Bike bags were stashed at Geysir Car Rental right outside of the Keflavik Airport. Very nice people. $160 USD for 12 days of storage. Highly recommend.
@@arminkorsos thanks for the extra details. Loved the pro level snoring 👌👌
@@insertcointobegin Surprised Michael didn't smack me upside the head that night, he's a solid travel partner haha
song???!
All music is from Artlist.io, glad you liked it! Thank you for watching
A film super volt ez nekem is bakancs listás .Csak nincsenek magyar felmenőid?
Igen, Magyar vagyok! Legkozelebb Magyar valtozatot is keszitek!!

No polar bears?
Not in Iceland!
Great trip and video. We are going to do this trip with our kids. Some of the language seemed unnecessary.
Hope you enjoy, would be tough with kids as it's really difficult physically. Unless you mean you're going by car. Sorry for the language, this video was just for us and didn't know it would get this many views. Next one we'll edit it out.
@@arminkorsos Don't apologize to this douche. He's complaining about the free info he's getting.
@@charliedillon1400 His kids are 15 and 19, pretty sure this is not the first time they've heard cussing LOL
I meant Armin you need the CPAP
I'll throw one in the support vehicle next time
Wahoo map not up to date. Noted.
You'll save yourself a huge headache, and a lot of time...
If you're going to be on roads why not just drive ? Oh wait thats lazy me 😅
Fun vid guys, too bad about the knee trouble, always a big worry for a cyclist.
Getting a bike fit soon that'll hopefully fix that!
