- Host Cascade Truck Camper TOUR | RV Living Truck Camper Living - The Host Cascade truck camper just might be the best truck camper on the market for full time rv living and truck camper living. You'll see when you watch the Host Cascade truck camper tour video that Host has done an incredible job on maximizing the use of space with the slides for RV life, RV living, and truck camper living. Wendy is living in a truck camper after first living in a van. When she saw how much space there was in the Host truck camper - she compared it to have an apartment in the bed of her Ram 3500 truck.
I'm in the market for a truck camper and still researching whether living in a truck camper versus my camper van is best for my RV lifestyle. When I saw Wendy in Alaska last year on the road and saw her truck camper life - well - I couldn't resist talking to her about why she decided on the Host Cascade truck camper made by Host Industries. She invited me into her tiny home on wheels for a truck camper tour and discussed items she really liked on her Host truck bed camper and how living this camper is better than vanlife. She is living in an RV full time so she really utilizes the space in the truck camper for RV living full time with her dog Aspen. She mostly is off grid living with the occasional truck camping in an RV park.
One of the items she stresses is you need a big truck for the big RV truck camper to make sure you aren't over weight and damage your rig during RV travel. Advantages to the Host Cascade truck camper is the slides that open up the space for living in an RV that makes it feel like a small apartment on wheels in the back of your truck. It's also a 4x4 camper for 4x4 camper living and you can full time RV in this truck camper and be very comfortable. Look at any other truck camper reviews and you'll find these truck campers can get heavy. Her Host Cascade truck camper sits on a Ram 3500 dually truck to handle the load and provide additional storage for truck camping and truck camper life.

★ My Story
Hi, I'm Amber and in May 2017 I started full time RV living. I started this nomadic journey after selling my house and all my belongings to pursue this crazy dream of traveling full time in an RV and creating incredible memories.
After 1 year of traveling, I sold my 26 foot Winnebago Class C RV for a more nimble Class B van on a Promaster 2500 chassis. Now in my 4th year of RVing in my camper van, I'm still loving this RV lifestyle and being a digital nomad. I almost always boondock in nature and really enjoy that off grid living.

Absolutely friggin' beautiful camper. After many years, I haven't escaped. Hope to join all of you escapees out there one day.
She's such an inspiration. Knows her stuff, seriously independent capable woman who is not afraid living life to the max.
Wendy has it going on. Impressed with how knowledgeable she is. Great tips for helping people in the market to make a good informed decision
Dose Wendy have a RUclips channel?
We have a Host Mammoth, which is the beast of Host’s line on a 5500 Ram dually and absolutely love it. We converted the Ram to a flat bed and had a company add commercial-style storage cabinets. A total game changer. We toured the plant and were impressed with the quality of their rigs. Plus we like their slide system which is not Schwintek (not reliable). Can’t go wrong with Host.
C B 😀 That's so good to know from another Host owner. I love that Mammoth too!
Hi there, would you be willing to talk to us about your truck selection and the conversion to flat bed w/storage cabinets? We are thinking that is what we want to do and it seems quite daunting to sort through everything!
I also am looking to buy a Ram diesel 5500 and put a host camper on it and I wonder did you have to do anything extra to the suspension of your 5500 truck to handle the weight of the camper? Thanks!
I like her. Kind of a independent firecracker! Knows the rig she wanted, moved on from the Airstream and onto a more capable rig. An inspiration to the aspiring middle-aged solo traveller.
you probably dont care at all but does anyone know of a method to get back into an Instagram account..?
I stupidly forgot the account password. I would love any assistance you can offer me!
@Ezekiel Anderson instablaster :)
@Brooks Tyler Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now.
Takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Brooks Tyler It worked and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my ass!
@Ezekiel Anderson Glad I could help :)
The most important takeaway for me from Wendy was regarding the truck: Buy BIG & wide! Thanks for this video, Ladies.
She is spot on it’s all about the truck you choose for your camper. I want to stress that she is very smart she bought a dually. Anyone buying a camper like this, no matter what sales people say dually is a must have. Makes the driving experience way less stressful. Keeps the whole unit more stable on the road. Especially in the cross winds.
Travis Steeves 😀 You've got that right.
👍🏿 I brought an old truck camper it's almost the same size just not modern but I'm remodeling it. I know nothing bout trucks but I'm definitely gonna get the truck she has here with dully!!!!
It's awesome to see women out there showing men up on truck Camping.
We agree!
Thts one of the best truck camper designs ive seen tbh
I have never seen such a nice truck camper 👍
I love it!
Wow, I had no idea there was so much space in a camper. Very nice
I wish I could get a remote job so I could live this lifestyle, would love it!
CVS pharmacy is always hiring remotely.
After sales service can be more important than the actual sale when you have issues. Thanks so much for the tour ladies. Cheers!
Absolutely! You're welcome and thanks for watching!
Hello :) You just "hit the nail on the head"!!! I have been trying to decide the van life movement but don't really want a van and this idea is GENIUS!!! It gives a person the freedom and flexibility...Absolutely wonderful concept and idea!!
That’s a beast! A fireplace in a truck camper!😲Awesome😍 Can’t wait time see her load/unload it. As a single woman, that is the most intimidating & the main reason why truck campers were “X’’d off my list.
Mystical Misfit 😀 I agree which is why I asked her to show me the process and take the fear away.
For me, the taking off and on are way easier than my bumper pool travel trailer. I learned to drive in a truck. So it is something I am very comfortable backing up. And with the 4 jacks automated, it raises and lowers easy.
I agree on removing it being easier. At least it seems that way compared to the friends that I've seen who have travel trailers.
Story Chasing She looks like she doesn’t have any problems doing it. So glad to see! So inspirational😊
Wendy Kadner Awesome! 😊
not gonna lie, thats a kick ass camper..Looks like a nice apartment...Shes got a nice set up with the 4x4 dually..
barry jackson it's pretty cool...I agree. What was your favorite part?
@@AmberJBaldwin first off, ive been watching your Mexico trip this morning...so freaking beautiful...I was watching you follow your friend and some of the roads you were on/camping spots and the vans you all had, being one piece an all is nice and you all seemed in a good situation wit hthem....What made her camper special was the slide or slides with the layout...
barry jackson haha..glad you enjoyed the Mexico vids! I can't wait to go back. It's just incredible! Yeah those slides make a huge difference.
@@AmberJBaldwin I wonder why they don't make slideouts for the camper vans?? I
think that could be a game changer, but there must be a reason why they can't do it.:)
@@barryjackson1401 Yes! Those slides make all the difference in the world! Such a nice little home! A true home.
That is darn near the perfect rig for a solo traveler. I’m definitely back in the truck camper market!
It sure is!
These truck campers are the way to go I think. You’re never gonna get a 4wd RV and a 4wd van will probably cost you as much as the truck and the camper.
@@cityslickeroutdoors8306 not only that but you can go anywhere and drop the camper and have a free vehicle to tool around with if you don’t want to drag the camper with you. I think it’s perfect for folks who really want to get out into the middle of nowhere.
@@cityslickeroutdoors8306 ha, you hit it on the nose, I was thinking the same thing after researching all this stuff, vans are too small, 5th wheels are too big, this is just right for singles or couples. + some of the host models are 4 season.
I’m selling my 2019 Cascade . Unit has all the extras. Used six times. Ram truck with customized suspension going also.
Look in to a lance 1172 or a 1062 which are comparable in size....LANCE is truly a 4 season's camper. Ive had mine in -30°F and was warm as a bug in a rug.. lol. They have great quality and finish work, also if you camp in cooler climates you Actually have ducted heat throughout your bedroom.bathroom, living area and in the underbelly so your tanks won't freeze. HOST just has a space heater under the couch.
Hello. The lance 1172 and 1062 are great campers. My casscade is 4 season too. I have ducting to the basement where the grey and fresh tank are housed and the black sits in the slide under the couch. I have been in weather below zero as well. Iowa is home for me. 😀. I enjoy that feature very much. Have a great day
Wendy Kadner 😀 That's so good to know Wendy. I knew it was rated as 4 season, but wasn't sure what made it that way.
xceler8 auto 😀Thanks for the info on Lance. I just saw Wendy replied with the Host 4 season camper and what makes it that way.
@@AmberJBaldwin Your welcome 😁....I only know that because I too was looking in to getting a HOST cascade or mammoth and I notice That there wasn't any heating ducts anywhere and I live in Wisconsin where it gets really cold . 🥶
Artic fox is another truck camper that I highly recommend looking in to....👍
This is my dream retirement home that I’m really trying to buy NOW. I’m looking forward to the manufacturing tour.
Donna Ocasio 😀 You and me both! lol
She certainly does have a very homey camper.
David murling 😀 Yeah I love it!!! She's amazing at the use of space and loading and unloading the camper which she does often.
It’s amazing how big these truck campers are inside. And all you really need is the bathroom, and this is easier than trying to find that in a van.
City Slicker Outdoors 😀
Wow, that was pretty damn impressive! I never considered a truck camper before, but with the slides....it's a whole new ball game. Thx Amber and Wendy!
Jud Rose Thanks so much! ☺️ ..and you're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it.
i just have to thank you again for the truck to carry that small but very impressive home!!!
Wow, love that Host camper. I would absolutely buy it. My husband even likes it and he never liked truck campers before.
Tygerlady99 😀 Oh well that's a plus! Glad he liked it.
My wife talked me into a truck camper last year. I never thought I would enjoy it but it is awesome. I love the flexibility it offers. The ability to pull in just about anywhere and take it off to leave it at the campsite are nice options. I would consider a flatbed if I was to upgrade.
The flatbed would be pretty amazing too. I've seen some truck campers on those too.
Can we get to know more about the 3" electrical bed riser? Would love to add that our rig.
As always great video!!!!
Vie 🇨🇦
I'm here for the same reason. Would like a link to bed lift.
Sylvie Mayer 😀 Here's a link on Amazon to the frame Wendy has and it weighs approximately 119 lbs: amzn.to/2DT1KsA
Stephannie Peterson 😀Here's a link on Amazon to the frame Wendy has and it weighs approximately 119 lbs: amzn.to/2DT1KsA
I have a 40’ fith wheel and I could see myself having a truck camper. Any lady with a truck like hers and a camper is just REALY cool. Enjoy
Well said!
One of the nicest truck camper layouts I've seen. I love the high-low table!
Love this rig. 65 gallons of fresh!!
Matt Ridder 😀
Been eyeing Host campers a while for purchase. Nice video!
Awesome! Thank you!
Amber, thank you for sharing the Host Camper tour. I was amazed at the "homeyness" this one offered. I love RAM diesel trucks too. I'm eager to see your video at Host.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! Happy Travels!
Wendy does have a nice set up Thanks 4 Sharing .
Absolutely love that camper! I opted for a class c because I didn’t have a truck and I have a teen at home so wanted more space but started out looking at these. So much bigger inside than it looks! Thanks for sharing
That is awesome! Good luck and safe travels too!
This is really amazing. I also noticed the back splash.
Eugene Street Thanks so much! ☺️ So cool isn't it?
That is awesome!! I love it thank you for sharing :) look forward to tour
Thanks to your video, we pick up our Host Mammoth the end of this month! I'm so glad you shared this camper.
One of the big things you’re paying for in a property is the view. And the outdoors buffer zone away from your neighbors. You get all that and more with this, for free!! How can you beat that???
City Slicker Outdoors 😀 Right!
Amazing! I can see why your considering a change!
Jen T 😀 Cool isn't it?
Wow! Great use of space
Its very spacious inside, I really love the layout and the fire place. You don't expect so much space from the outside. Looks amazing
I never considered a truck camper before this video. Very informative video, thanks. Safe travels
Glad it was helpful! They are different, but can provide a great space.
host campers are the cadillac of truck campers, you answered my most unanswered questions when you mentioned the truck. host campers are heavy compared with others, but look at the set up. absolutely beautiful, so much room, the dry bath is awesome, the power setup you have is another great way to enjoy, i really enjoyed this video, so many unanswered questions answered. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
Glad I could help and thanks so much for watching.
Somehow I discovered Host and definitely changed my mind about a van vs. truck camper. Seeing it presented by you two just solidifies Host has more versatility and better boon-docking capabilities. Thanks for a great video.
I love everything about this. I thought I wanted a van but this is very impressive 👌🏾
Great tour. Wendy has it all figured out and presents the features of the camper very well. Looking forward to viewing the video on loading/unloading the camper from the truck.
Thanks for watching!
Totally amazing video. I am now going to look at this type of camper. Thanks a bunch. It's good to know that such wonderful and brave women are out there living life to the fullest.
Glad it was helpful!
Amber this was a fantastic review of a beautiful rig!!! Loved this❤️
Glad you liked it!!
Awesome truck camper!! Seems like the best option for a single full-timer that likes to travel a lot. Thanks for sharing!!
It really is! Thanks for watching!
I've always dreamed of getting a Host truck camper. Host makes the best looking campers that actually look and feel like a "home" to me as well.
IKARIANOFFICIAL 😀 I totally agree with you! Amazing campers that feel like a home.
I will be doing the exact same thing this year. My van will be sold and I’m going to buy a dually and probably a Northern Lite truck camper. Rock on girl!
101taiga 😀 I keep hearing about the Northern Lite truck campers. What's your favorite part about it and why are choosing that truck camper? I'm still in research mode so I'm very interested in your thoughts on it.
@@AmberJBaldwin There are so many nuances btw camper companies Amber.... ie last week in a couple msgs to you (one via your website on this topic, I did not hear back) - I reminded you about the INSULATION factors company to company, that is the first thing I research about a company, incl. when I stopped this video to go research this company for a bit. Insulation is key whether you are in summer heat or winter cold, and even in rain.
Story Chasing I think fiberglass is the way to go for a variety of reasons: lighter weight, decreased leaking (clamshell fiberglass fabrication very much like a boat), well insulated and 4 season capable. I like the modern interior of NL Campers, the storage, the durability if well cared for and maintained. I don’t want any slides for too many reasons to list, but mostly because they would be of no use to me 50% of the time. I’m a travel RN and when on a contract and working, I sleep in the hospital parking lot, where extending slides would be problematic. Also, I want everything accessible all the time, which slides sometimes prohibit. Just my opinion of course. Also looking at Bigfoot, but they’re bigger and heavier and I want something a bit more sleek and streamlined. Both have excellent reputations. Keep us updated! I would love to know what you decide on✌🏼
@@101taiga You have very specific needs and have really identified them well. If you look at my other comments here, NL and Bigfoot were high on my list too. Arctic Foxes also.
Barry Dutton Sells Homes totally agree that insulation is a big factor especially when you're looking at all season campers. Hymer did a horrible job at insulating our vans!
Fantastic layout! Surprised at the amount of space and comfort features!
I totally agree!
I absolutely love this set up. This lady is brilliant. So smart.
Was waiting for this video -- I just spent the last 90 solid mins researching TC's specifically Northern-Lite and Bigfoots.
Barry Dutton Sells Homes what do you think when you compare these now?
Get land first
What a fantastic setup! Those tank sizes are huge and I want that bed!
Traveling With Joe 😀 Right!!!
Luv iT! Super Tour Interview!
Fantastic video ... Wow ... what a courageous woman. Keep up the great adventures and keep us posted!
Thank you so much!
3500 dodge ram is definitely the right truck. Go ram diesels . That is an awesome rig you have there. Only thing missing for me is a front wench . Cummins diesel-powered .
Steve Pisula Glad you liked it. I think I might put a front wench on too just in case.
Neve mind the rig, Wendy 's the treat.
Hans Sachs 😀
You are too sweet!!
@@wendyhoffman3985 You need to start making videos! You are so well spoken and GORGEOUS! I think you'd fo really well on here.
@@wendyhoffman3985 great rig! Trying to find your Instagram account plz send the Link 🙏🏼
Thank you for a very nice tour of your camper home, 😊👍💕💕💕
Love this truck camper...layout is amazing for sure and now will look at Host a bit closer just based on that and the customer service! Thanks for sharing Amber and Wendy!
Michelle Cella Schleis 😀 You're so welcome.
This setup is the best thing going, until the Hyundai Porest mini RV comes over here, if it ever does.
City Slicker Outdoors 😀 I haven't heard of this.
@@AmberJBaldwin There's a number of great setups that aren't sold in US.
She legit got stuck in the spot she calls the morgue 😂
Sabrina Kopke 😀
Might be my favorite host layout. Super tight. Good video
Your awesome. Thank you for the tour, I have been rving since 1996 in my 38 ft diesel pusher. I am considering down sizing, I really liked the floor plan of the cascade, gave me a lot to think about.
Again thank you
What a super cool experience.
John Brown Thanks so much! ☺️
That was a great interview!
Karen Scott Thanks so much! ☺️
Wow!!
What an incredible floor plan and amazed the spaciousness that you get from the dual slide.
What a versatile set up to get to those remote spots.
👍🏼
Glad you like it!
Hi Amber - Thanks so much for having Wendy take us on tour of her camper. I never thought much about truck campers, but the setup that Wendy has looks fantastic. I'll be waiting to see more of what you present when you visit Host Campers. Thank you, Bob
Thanks for watching!
Thank you Amber & Wendy, it’s a great video. Very informative!
🙏😊😘
Glad you enjoyed it!
That's the stuff!!! Love it!!!
Holy crap look at that morgue tray WOW that's awesome
WOW! Who knew all that fits in a truck camper. The inside does not look like a camper of any kind. And that bed 🤩 I want one! 👍
Yes thank you for these videos. This is the way to go for sure
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching too!
Awesome choice! Scarey Morgue stuck experience
Amazing you can run fireplace, ac, tv etc
Amazing
I love to cook so great you have oven and amazing water capacity!

Very good touring and helpful. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome tour. Having been researching this lifestyle and never considered truck campers until now. I’m blown away by the roominess, capacities and livability of it. It’s made me realize I’ve so much to learn.
You can do it!
Awesome setup!
Nice campervan😘😀👍 this channel is very helpful for the people who is planning to have camper/vanlife.. lot of ideas you can get👍😀
Wow, what a great informative video! I wouldn’t have considered a truck camper until Wendy shared hers with us. Many thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Cab overs are so fascinating with their clever use of space and design. Thumbs up.
Dive Bar Casanova I thought so too!😊
Great video!! It is definitely the best truck camper I've seen!
It really is! Wendy did a fantastic job of getting her truck camper all set-up how she wants and what works for her. I'm super impressed with her and her rig.
Wow, who knew these were sooooo kool , Thanks for sharing 🤗🤗🤗
Glad you like them and thanks for watching. I so agree with you. I wish I had seen this before purchasing my first Class C!!! lol
I LOVE this!! Wonderful lady and beautiful camper 💕
Love your tour, thanks
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching.
Thanks, Story Chasing💐
Very nice little home on wheels, very cozy.
I am mind blown how much room there is and how friggin sweet todays campers are, at least the Host. I have been stuck remembering my dads in the 70’s and how small and COLD it was at night. Awesome video, you really opened my eyes. What a great move she made. Man how exciting it must be for you guys to literally go anywhere you like, wake up every morning with beautiful views or most mornings. So cool.
Couldn't agree more! This live is pretty amazing. If you’re curious about traveling full-time, I have a free masterclass you can watch (3 videos) that will help you to fly the nest and get prepared. It's called “INSIDER SECRETS TO MANIFESTING YOUR DREAM LIFE AND TRAVEL FULL-TIME!"
at www.storychasing.com/masterclass
And that overhead part you can set a couple of launchers underneath it and have you some shade and still be outside
Working remote from the RV full time, the moment I saw her pepwave router I was like yep she's doing it right.
This may absolutely just check everything on my list! Ruh-Roh , Family and Friends!!!
its really helpful infos thank you for sharing again
My pleasure
Great going. Keep it up.
Thanks a lot
wow.... blown away by the space and feel of that thing! what a design

This lady sure knows her RV there!! Great video!!
You got that right! Thank you!
You asked all the questions I had!! I wanted a truck camper but only had seen videos saying it's difficult to load back on when it's off. So excited!! It's reignited my desire for them again!
Glad I could help! This week there is a video of Wendy unloading and loading so be sure to watch that.
