Hi. Nice video. I grew up and currently live in Cheyenne. In fact, I was surprised when you drove by my childhood home (NE Cheyenne off College Dr). The streets that are dirt road in that area are county pockets that have not been annexed into the proper city limits. College Drive actually used to be the edge of town back in the 70s the city grew around these county pockets.

Wow! The artists of this little city are astounding! I live in Chicago a huge wild place but little Cheyenne easily outdo us in art. While we have a lot of public artworks Cheyenne's artists add a lot more basic humanity to their stuff! Keep it up, people!
First thing I noticed is how much the city favors San Angelo, Texas my hometown. It is clean, no tent cities no trash on the street unless they cleaned up before you go there. Thankyou so much , enjoyed the video. I stayed several days in Cody with the wife years ago and enjoyed that little town so much. The Buffalo Bill dam was a marvel to visit. The capital was astounding. , we cannot even get into the Franklin county courthouse in Pasco, Washington without going through metal detectors etc.

Glad to see a video on Cheyenne. I was there last October during a road trip. Very nice, very clean, everyone was friendly. I bet the winters are unbearable.
I was born and raised in Cheyenne, only moved away less than a year ago because my husband is in the military. It’s a beautiful and historic place. I volunteered at the Atlas theatre for many years. I can’t wait to visit again this video makes me homesick.
OMG you have such a way of bringing these cities to life that I was having happy bouts of nostalgia while watching. I lived in Cheyenne from 2001-03 but first visited in 1976 on a 4-H Exchange Trip. Our host family performed with the Old Fashioned Melodrama at the Atlas Theater and we went every night. It was so much fun! Everybody gathered out back after the show for an impromptu party as the trains were passing by. In those days we Rhode Islanders thought we were out in the middle of nowhere, not even a part of the US but still out in the territories. There was nothing around for miles. When I lived there there was not all that artwork and definitely no Cowboy Boots in front of the train station. That was so cool showing Cattlebarron's Way and Keefe Row. I don't even remember that! I lived on 31st St, near the State Capitol. Thanks for the tour. The only time I ever went there was to get my notary paperwork signed, as I worked for the city. I wish I had taken the time to walk through it and see that, so thanks for taking me along! I just fell in love with that city 46 years ago and still love it to this day. I do remember you said you grew up in a trailer park when you were driving around Bismark, ND I think it was. Our host family lived on top of a ridge when I first went there in '76. You could see for miles. When I moved there in 2001 there had been a subdivision built in back of their land but like you said, other than that it was the same. When the houses ended, the prairie began. THANK YOU SO MUCH, YOUR VIDEO MADE MY DAY!
I was there twice. Last time was in October of 2019, a bright, sunny October day where I walked through the Capitol, sampled a few beers downtown, including one from Accomplice, a wheat beer called Sol Dance. I walked off the buzz by walking halfway across the bridge in your opening segment and back. I had flown into Denver the night before, rented a car one-way with Cheyenne being the northernmost point in my trip, continuing south-southeast, leaving the car in Houston before flying back home. My mom had died three week eariler in Ohio and this was a "go for a long drive before you make any life-changing decisions" kind of trip.
I watch his couple travels all over the north & south. Sure enjoy them like my personal tour guide. So much to see without having to drive through the long stretch of lonely hwy. they are the best.
What a clean and wonderful city! Thanks for the video-it is very educational. Cheyenne looks great. The Sanford's Grub & Pub looks very inviting! 10/10 for the tour. Even the graffiti is worth seeking out-excellent artists! Great buildings and those boots! Oh, did you know that Wyoming joined the Union in 1890? 💯👍
Good morning. Greetings from Jundiaí, Brazil I'm watching RUclips videos from all state capitals of the United States in order or memorize all their names by heart and know bout their culture and history. Cheyenne is a lovely city, clean streets, clean avenues and there are some green areas too. I hope to visit the city one day, Peace
I really appreciate the drive through downtown and especially the surrounding neighborhoods and what part of town they were located. Gives a good feel of the city. Thank you.

Man, I absolutely love my hometown. It's cool seeing it, through someone else's eyes, who doesn't live here. Definitely makes me appreciate this place more. #wyHOMEing 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
It's weird seeing a video on my home town, most people don't even know where Wyoming is when I tell them where I live. If you were here a week earlier you would have experienced Frontier days. Thank you for putting our city out there, pretty cool.
@hikergirly Nice, we have a pretty decent lineup for the night shows this year, JellyRoll, Ludacris & T-pain, Machine Gun Kelly, Thomas Rhett, Lainey Wilson, Jason Aldean, and Turnpike Troubadours. I'm a little disappointed we didn't get any Rock concerts this year, last year we had Five Finger Deathpunch with Papa Roach as their opener. It was glorious!
I spent 4 years in Wyoming at the University in Laramie. I went home with fraternity brothers to different city's and always enjoyed the small towns and the people. Thank you for the walk down memory lane.
Every year I take a trip to see places I’ve never been. This year, I went to Cheyenne in July 2022 during the Frontier Days festival. I really liked it. I loved seeing your tour!
I appreciate your video of my adopted home. It highlights many of the beautiful artworks around the city that are actually paid for by donations. The one thing you seemed amazed with was the dirt roads within the city. Those areas probably do not belong to the city, but rather the county. We have several "islands" belonging to the county which is something most cities of any size do not. Although technically not part of the city, we still claim them.
I'm so glad you stopped at sandfords. The restaurant is by far my favorite place to eat and just hang out with friends. I've been in cheyenne for about 8 years, and I love downtown
@@JoeandNicsRoadTrip if you ever find yourself out here again, try to come towards the end of June for cheyenne frontier days. And in the summer, there is an event called Friday nights at the plaza. Its a whole lot of fun
Sanfords also has a restaurant in Casper. Used to have one in Sheridan but they shut it down. If you really want to see a world class museum, stop in Cody.
We used to have a place called Gunther Toodies that did it up with all the memorabilia that closed down a while ago. Now all we have is Great Scotts. Have a safe trip
Another great tour and what a nice clean city Cheyenne looks. I always associate the name with the Wild West. Also, what beautiful architecture, homes and surrounding areas it has. The Capitol Building and museum looked great, as did your lunch. 😆 I'd love to visit this historical city, as well as that quirky bar. Must be great being able to drive through the different states of America. As usual, your commentary was fab. Thank you both for sharing this video. Best wishes from the UK. 🤗
As a resident of this fine little city, I have to say this was a pleasure to watch, and I'm enjoying all the words of admiration in the comments for this place that I so love. Thanks for posting! P.S: Next time you come through, take a detour to the corner of 21st and Alexander. There's a house there called The Slack House, so named because its original owner Robert Slack was one of the main proponents in starting Frontier Days! Very cool architecture, if not as well maintained as some other historic buildings.
Born in Cheyenne, Welcome to Wyoming.. the dirt road are County road not city and city is in County.. 37:03 was stone my Father took out of Old Post Office was taking down, dad sold the stone to Fred Albert was old owner to that building before it was bar.
Hi there! I’ve lived in Cheyenne for over half my life. You just touched on our murals, we have over 70 of them, and more are added each year. The bronze statues you showed are also part of a city wide project to add art to the downtown experience. One thing I must comment on is the gravel roads. They are actually pockets of county owned property that the city grew around, so therefore not technically in the city. Even though it is surrounded by city property. Not sure why that is, but that is why it is still gravel. I also have an historic home in the Rainsford district, unfortunately you didn’t show the cattle barons streets. 17th and 18th streets, and Carrie Avenue have a lot of original historic homes from that period. Also during that time Cheyenne had more millionaires per capita than anywhere in the US. Cheyenne’s history really is fascinating, I hope you look into it further. I really enjoyed your video and perspective on our city. Hope you get to stop by another time. Safe travels! Jeff Tish, Cheyenne resident.
Wow! I was born in Dodge City, was moved to String Town, Oklahoma, from there to McAlister, Ok, where we lived for 7 years and then to good ole Cheyenne, Wy. Lived there for 10 years before moving to San Francisco, Ca. I had my best times in Cheyenne, with the Frontier Days and all the activities, the parades, carnival, rodeos and the parties. With F. E. Warren AFB, right outside of town, offered alot of activities, as well, roller rink, swimming pool, bowling ally, movie theater and the best food in town, at the cafeteria. Like I said, the best times for us teenagers, at the time.
Did you like Wyoming better than OK? I wasn't a big fan of OK. I guess in big part to the extra hot summers then you still had cold winters, drab sorta flat desolate landscape & weird vibe. I wasn't a big fan of Kansas either. The Kansas vibe felt totally different than OK but was also sorta negative one. I never been to Cheyenne or Wyoming but to me, it seems to have better vibe. Especially if you like summer & winter outdoor activities.
@@michaelbrinks8089 I didn’t like OKs tornados, but I liked the weather better than Cheyenne’s winter storms. They call Chicago the Windy City, but Cheyenne’s got it beat, it’s flat, nothing to block the wind off of the Rocky Mountains. I’d have to say, 50/50. California proved to be the idea place for me to live. 🌞🌵🌴
I will say you did have a pretty nice video. One place on lincoln that you touched on about being under development. Truth be told, it was a hotel at one time that burnt down in 04. The hotel is actually if I remember right where Tom Horn signed his confession. I had always heard that they were going to rebuild it, but as you can see, at the time of doing video. I always wanted to move to Cheyenne, and in 2000, I had the opportunity, and I don't regret it I was born and raised in California and every year passing through to Beatrice Nebraska to see my parents' family. I would always enjoy seeing Cheyenne..
Cheyenne has some great parks. Hope you didn't miss them. Frontier Days is the time to be there in Cheyenne if you don't mind the crowds. I grew up at the University of Wyoming Archer Field Station just a few miles east of town. I understand it is now the county fairgrounds. Actually the old town looks better now. Thanks for the tour.
Accidently stumbled upon your channel in searching RUclips. There's more and more art in the downtown all the time I noticed. They even recently were painting mural-crosswalks along the westedge! Also, on the topic of Sweetgrass, they do have plans submitted for even more housing over there!
6:37 You visited the Downtown Hole. Previous building burnt down in 2004 and they've been arguing about what to put in that spot for almost 20 years now. Supposedly going to be made a park, but it's supposedly just about to be a lot of things over the years.
This was definitely a surprise. Beautiful old buildings and plenty of artwork all over the city including unusual statues and cowboy boots. It has a unique personality. So clean. No homeless living on the streets.
Your lovely wife is very fit nice way of putting it... And all your videos are very informative and I drove through it several times... You forgot to go to the fair grounds and see it's huge rodeo stadium...
I'm from Cheyenne but away in college at the moment and it was really nice to get to see a little bit of home. Also if you are visiting Cheyenne there are some other great local places to eat as well!
I grew up in Cheyenne and my first job was a dishwasher at Sanfords! Sanfords has always been a great place with an awesome atmosphere and great food. Hasn’t changed one bit. The city in the other hand has made a ton of improvements over the past five years and really improved their social/night life
Having lived here for 25+ years I will add just a few tidbits. When you go from paved to dirt in the city, you have usually crossed into county maintenance. The Capitol building and the train depot are facing each other so they could keep an eye on each other. You were lucky enough to visit on a day with little wind. I've always thought that one of the reasons Cheyenne is so clean is because all our loose trash blows into Nebraska. You don't fly a kite in Wyoming...they fly you. But the heat and the cold in Wyoming are both dry and keep the temps comfortable. I grew up in NY where the first snowflake that fell in Oct. turned to slush in Nov. and finally melted in May. I'll take the wind.......
In the 4th grade I did my report on State History titled; WELCOME TO WONDERFUL WINDY WYOMING. That was more than 50 years ago and I still have the report. Cheyenne is not really a part of Wyoming. It was supposed to be in Nebraska but the wind blew the boundary line too far east and so Wyoming was enlarged by about 40 miles.
Just went to Frontier Days this year. Very nice people and unique style. This city is quite different from most of the state so definitely stop by if you have the chance!
Thanks for a trip through my hometown. Didn't expect the murals or art. The ne side is weird. Some of it is county roads not city maintenance so gravel. Been that way for decades. County won't let go. City won't annex.. Cheyenne is facing a growth ending. It is surrounded by industrial, ranches and ranchettes. FE Warren AFB 150 Minutemen III missiles in NE CO. Thanks for the tour.
@@JoeandNicsRoadTrip I live outside of Sioux Falls. Commented on that one too If you get to Colorado Springs check out Old Colorado City (West Colo. Ave), Manitou Springs and Cripple Creek.

It's pretty awesome. Wide open spaces. Nice people. No traffic, lol. No trash on the streets. Beautiful, small cities. I hope you get to see it for yourself someday, Barbara.
The thing about Sanford's Pub and Grub is it is an actual regional chain that originated in Gillette WY (founded and still named Humphreys today) that spreads from Rapid City SD to Sheridan, Casper and of course the Cheyenne location seen here. They are known more for the collection of antiques and decor than the actual food. The food is pretty good though.
I like southern Indiana my grandmother & dad lived in Madison. But northern & central Indiana is bland like central IL & Iowa. Not bad but sorta bland.
I moved from Albuquerque New Mexico to Cheyenne 6 years ago. I absolutely loved living there! Wyoming is its own “Country” so to speak!! I ended up buying a house about 60 miles east just inside Nebraska, but I still do most of my shopping and entertainment there.
We’ve lived in Cheyenne, WY for 21 years. The dirt roads within the city are called “county pockets” because they’ve never been annexed into the city. From what I understand it’s very expensive for areas like this since the affected residents would have to pay to be connected city water & sewer as well as paving the streets initially & installing sidewalks. I’ve been up in the dome & it offers great views. It’s not open to the general public. It’s good that you came when you did in 2022 since the whole capitol building was under renovation for several years. You also just missed Cheyenne Frontier Days which is the largest outdoor rodeo in the world. The city is packed full of people then.

Thank you for the kind, insightful and extremely intellectual viewpoint, David. It's a great little city, well worth a visit. :)
Wow! The artists of this little city are astounding! I live in Chicago a huge wild place but little Cheyenne easily outdo us in art. While we have a lot of public artworks Cheyenne's artists add a lot more basic humanity to their stuff! Keep it up, people!
I totally agree. It was a pleasant surprise for me. :)
Glad you're in my state! I grew up near Wheatland, an hour north. I always loved the beautiful old buildings in Cheyenne.
My brother-in-law goes to San Angelo on his truck driving job. He says of all the places he's been it is the best place he has visited.
@@stealthbomber2127 It is a nice town and unemployment is like less than 3% cultured people with much Hispanic heritage but a little something for everyne.
Glad to see a video on Cheyenne. I was there last October during a road trip. Very nice, very clean, everyone was friendly. I bet the winters are unbearable.
If not for the wind it wouldn’t be bad. Blows anywhere from 20mph-100mph
The wind , is the truly unbearable
Many times the Temps aren't bad, it's the wind!
Ive lived in cheyenne my while life and I'm 32. And yes the winters some times can get really bad.
Winters are fine, its the wind that kills you. Last year we had a snowstorm of close to 4 feet over night, but other than that the snow is tolerable
Wow, Joyce, thank you. Your comment made my day. :)
I'm glad you liked our little city. I was born on the base and grew up here and have lived the majority of my life here. Thanks for visiting!
The murals and statues are gloriously beatiful public art, reminds me of the public art installations we do here in Florida. 🎨 🖼 ❤
Its neat to see your town in someone's perspective. Thanks for visiting...the undeveloped area was a building that burnt down...still an empty lot
Thankyou for opening our eyes to Cheyenne! Been to Wyo. Several times and never took the time. Will definitely do so next fall when we go🎉❤
I watch his couple travels all over the north & south. Sure enjoy them like my personal tour guide. So much to see without having to drive through the long stretch of lonely hwy. they are the best.
Thank you!
Cheyenne born and raised...glad to see someone enjoying r city come back for Frontier Days u will have so much more to do....
Good morning. Greetings from Jundiaí, Brazil
I'm watching RUclips videos from all state capitals of the United States in order or memorize all their names by heart and know bout their culture and history.
Cheyenne is a lovely city, clean streets, clean avenues and there are some green areas too.
I hope to visit the city one day,
Peace
Cool town, I was expecting Stevie Nick's to come out of the Bohemian store.
We (Cheyenne-ites) could only wish this would happen!
@@kristiewilson1909 there's always Rumours about Fleetwood Mac reforming,😭
I really appreciate the drive through downtown and especially the surrounding neighborhoods and what part of town they were located. Gives a good feel of the city. Thank you.
Hi Lord Spoda.
Thanks for this interesting video.
Here are few lines of my Song of Wyoming in support of your travelling.
O Wyoming! Dear Wyoming!!
Mountains fade in blue
Around prairies abound
Lonely runs the way
Sea of grass around
Flashy blue gramma
Fecund river sides
Fluffy float the clouds
Swiftly eagle glides
August stands the Hill
Stillness rules the land
Chirps awaken morns
Eves are music bands......
I live in Reno but if I ever move it will be to Cheyenne. What beautiful clean town. Lot of history and so low key. Thank you!
I was cheyenne born and raised, and the cowboy boots are everywhere. If I remember correctly they were for a art contest. They are stunning and there was one even in my high school, central
We were there in 2023. Loved it there. Ate at 2 Doors Down. Very nice! Got pictures with a boot. 😂
I’ve lived in Cheyenne all my life. Check out the bunkhouse out west on happy jack, it’s great
Thank you for visiting and showing that there is more to my home town than people think
I was born and raised in Cheyenne Wyoming. We moved to California when I was a child but I love to go back that’s always been my hometown.❤
Great video, thank you as always. Keep showin us around!
David.
I saw Gone With the Wind there in that theater. Grew up there
That is cool.
RIP to the Lincoln Theater being an actual movie theater 😭
Great video! It is so nice to see this kind of video on my hometown.
Thank you for putting our city out there, pretty cool.
it kind of has to do with how big the State is the many small towns we have.
Love the Cheyenne Frontier Days! We stopped in 2014 to see it. Need to come back and see more of Cheyenne.
Super video really like the city architecture. The nostalgia aspect caught my eye.
Lots of great looking houses and buildings there.
Thank you for showing off our town! Hope you had a great time!
We did. Love Cheyenne.
I spent 4 years in Wyoming at the University in Laramie. I went home with fraternity brothers to different city's and always enjoyed the small towns and the people.
Thank you for the walk down memory lane.
Thanks , I enjoyed very much your video, I hope you continue making this kind of content
Thank you for showing us around. The tour did leave me feeling like I have visited Cheyenne.
Awesome. That's what I'm going for!
We really liked that place.
@@JoeandNicsRoadTrip if you ever find yourself out here again, try to come towards the end of June for cheyenne frontier days. And in the summer, there is an event called Friday nights at the plaza. Its a whole lot of fun
Its cool to watch this video and know every road you are on. I am born and raised and still here😊
WOW... Cheyenne is one pip of a nice place! Thanks guys, this was a good episode! 🤗
My Mom and Dad moved from Cheyenne to Chicago in the late 1940s. Wish they were still here to see this video. Thanks.
Thank you!
Thank you for the comment. I have been to some really bad cities in the US. It's always a pleasure to visit a city that's amazing. :)
Born in Cheyenne, Welcome to Wyoming.. the dirt road are County road not city and city is in County.. 37:03 was stone my Father took out of Old Post Office was taking down, dad sold the stone to Fred Albert was old owner to that building before it was bar.
Beautiful city seems like there is a lot to do in the town. All the art work is absolutely stunning.
That Sanfords is the coolest bar I've ever seen!! I'm 73 and believe me I've been to alot!
Thanks for showing the murals and boots, fountain.
I have to travel here for the artwork, food and culture, loved this video!
It is impressive. All the art work, the funky bar/restaurant, the cowboy boots ...
I agree.
Head up 25 north thru Wheatland and Casper. Beautiful drive! Winters get kinda tough but Wyoming is a tough state! Pure cowboy! ❤️
It’s an artsy town , very colorful , lovely buildings well kept. . , and clean.
Just found your channel love the content I enjoy traveling the back roads on my motor cycle in my area and beyond
Good videos. This was a favourite.
Was there in 1983 motorcycling across country....Kinda Looks The Same...interesting Town..Thanks
Accidently stumbled upon your channel in searching RUclips. There's more and more art in the downtown all the time I noticed. They even recently were painting mural-crosswalks along the westedge! Also, on the topic of Sweetgrass, they do have plans submitted for even more housing over there!
The artwork and the amount of it is impressive. :)
@@JoeandNicsRoadTrip it’s actually a project they’ve been working on for a couple years they’ve been painting a lot down there
Thank you for visiting our home.
You're living my dream, before I die, I like to travel like you two, to all the states. See capital buildings, and a beer sounds good at the end.
I hope you get there, Donald.
Cheyenne: Here I come! ❤❤❤ 😊
As someone who is planning on moving to Wyoming, this video was very enjoyable. I am so glad I found your channel.
Goal achieved....I really feel like it was me, visiting the city....Well done buddy, thanks.
That is awesome. :)
I lived in Cheyenne over50 years ago, i remember so much of that street
It has a Chehalis Washington kinda feel and look..amazin!
I grew up in Cheyenne and my first job was a dishwasher at Sanfords! Sanfords has always been a great place with an awesome atmosphere and great food. Hasn’t changed one bit. The city in the other hand has made a ton of improvements over the past five years and really improved their social/night life
I live in Cheyenne, I'm glad you love my city!
Sorry you missed the horse by the depot made of horse shoes. Glad you showed some of the nice places in this town.
Great video. I love visiting the US through your channel.
Love your videos! It makes my trip planning so easy.
Cool! :)

Wyoming is one of my favorite getaway states after stomaching the busy filthy big cities. So refreshing to see clean decent towns for a change.
Bro I am pretty amazed to see the bar- my friends used to say Wyoming Cheyenne is all about art and aesthetics. Your wonderful cadence, idiosyncracies and vibe along with the non gimmick visuals made my day. All the best 👍. This is my first video from your channel.
Wow, thank you
Very interesting tour of a city We (or at least myself) know and hear little about. Feel a tinge I'd like to visit and definitely have a meal in that restaurant with the wild decor. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you that was great Makes me want to go to Wyoming
It's pretty awesome. Wide open spaces. Nice people. No traffic, lol. No trash on the streets. Beautiful, small cities. I hope you get to see it for yourself someday, Barbara.
The thing about Sanford's Pub and Grub is it is an actual regional chain that originated in Gillette WY (founded and still named Humphreys today) that spreads from Rapid City SD to Sheridan, Casper and of course the Cheyenne location seen here. They are known more for the collection of antiques and decor than the actual food. The food is pretty good though.
Downtown Cheyenne is never that noisy! Your mic must be picking it up. I'm from Indiana, have visited there twice and LOVED Cheyenne!
