    Thank you for this review - I bought the Feadog for my first whistle and have been learning on it for a few months. Overall, a really nice whistle with nice tone and just as you say - easy to play, good range and not hard on the upper octave. I'm not sure what others mean about "sounding awful" - might be their playing ability and not the whistle! I am thinking of upgrading in a year or so and will be getting another of your recommendations - the Killarney Whistle - thanks again for your great videos!

    Been learning for over a year on the feadog D.
    As a beginner it was difficult at first to not break notes. Then it was difficult to switch octaves.
    I would say Feadog's require very specific breathing and the force of your breath between low and high notes can vary greatly.
    That said, after sticking with it it becomes second nature to adjust your blowing strength and it produces beautiful music for you.

    I had two unfortunate experience with Feadog tin whistle: Bought one in Birmingham, found that it has been used (!) after returning to my home town. From the unpleasant smell of the mouthpiece you can tell... Bought yet another one later in Reading, the mouthpiece is broken! However the whistle itself sounds nice. I will definitely try to get a third one!

    Must have this one too. Just ordered an Walton in High D and one I really looking forward to, Susato Killarney in High D, Model-F. I've heard so many mixed reviews, but I have a good feeling. The Feadóg and also Blackbird and Mellow Dog, I would really like to try the tweaked versions by Jerry Freeman. It sure cost a bit, but....We'll see. One at the time, maybe.😊. I'm more and more getting into the "cheaper" whistles. I like the sound and also the light weight. Brass has been and still is my favorite metal for a whistle. I have only one Aluminum, that's a "Burke Narrow Bore High D", and it is a wonderful instrument. 🌠☀️

    I had a feadog pro D and even if I barely blowed at all. It squeaked like hell. It was virtually impossible for me to play sweetly! I could get a decent tune in low notes sometimes but higher octave was ridiculous. Then I bought an £85 pound Wild Irish whistle and now I sound like a semi-pro overnight! So it's definitely sometimes the whistle not the whistler. Sadly I binned my feadog d pro as to me it was honestly atrocious the holes aren't even drilled flush with metal bits hanging inside and the mouthpiece was just cheap moulded plastic. Yet watching Cutiepie play a £9 whistle I'm stumped! But for me the breath control on these wee beginner whistles is beyond frustrating great way to learn to play but even if I blew gently I sounded like a parokeet. My advice is if your serious about playing pay anywhere up to £80 as to me that's still a budget instrument and at least you will get a whistle you will find that bit harder to overblow without any effort. It honestly takes years of practice to make a £10 whistle not shatter glass!!! 🤣

Maybe my blowing technique is the main problem, but I also wonder, will the original brass tin whistle sound different with the coloured tin whistle?

    The first whistle I bought was a Feadog brass in D but I gifted it to someone else years ago. I was going to purchase a new one as I don't particularly like my Generation brass in D. I decided to go with a Clarke Sweetone instead as I've never played a Clarke before. I know you said you didn't really like the Clarke Sweetone but I was curious how you would compare this Feadog whistle to the Clarke Sweetone?

    • @CutiepieTinWhistle
      @CutiepieTinWhistle  6 лет назад +1

      Michael Nightingale Although not my personal favourite, I always recommend a Clarke Sweetone for beginners, as it's a great whistle. The Feadog brass and Clarke Sweetone have very different sounds and playability, but are both great for playing with other instruments, nice and sturdy for travel too. If you like a sharp, crisp, traditional sound, go Feadog (Brass or maybe Pro - review coming next Tuesday), if you prefer something a little rounder and softer, go Clarke 😊

    • @sahamal_savu
      @sahamal_savu 6 лет назад +1

      I was actually thinking of a softer sound and a whistle that's easy to play so I think I made a good choice with the Sweetone. I just received it today in the mail and it is a very nice sounding whistle. I will definitely watch for your review of the Feadog Pro as I was considering that as well and I may have to grab one with your discount code :) Thanks for the reply!

    • @CutiepieTinWhistle
      @CutiepieTinWhistle  2 года назад +1

      The Feadog pro is better than the Feadog brass, definitely worth the extra few pounds. I haven't tried a Walton's unfortunately, but I think a lot of whistles in this design can be hit and miss. Sometimes you get a good one, sometimes not. I'd definitely recommend trying the Feadog pro though, it's one of the nicer cheaper whistles.
