    Certainly an issue for this as a fan also is the idea of the punishment coming from a place of openness - the overspending was reported as being because of reasoning our executives used for covid losses being rejected by the premier league, but the harshness seems downright unfair.
    We are Paying for a stadium, our ownership and funding has been in shambles for years now at this point (noticeably loosing the sponsorship money for our stadium rights by Usmanov as he was sanctioned as a result of the war in Ukraine) and Gylfi had his contract voided as a result of the investigations when they took place and was a 50 Million asset in our expenditure that we were unable to recoup money on.
    This feels personal, on whatever level corruption might exist within the Premier league.This is very clearly anything but intentional deception or manipulation by Everton Football club, incompetence certainly but not fraud.But as an Evertonian, there's virtually no explanation that makes this feel Fair or Just.

      @@Vizeh As you rightly pointed out, this does as a fanbase have a real potential to galvanise and bring us together - I have seen just in the last two days a huge coming together by Evertonians wanting to really make an effort now in games to show our distaste for the ruling. its just such a difficult situation for the club as a whole that there's no room to relax as a fan.
      The lawsuit is tenuous of course, but if it were to go ahead and put us into administration there's very little to say that the club in its current evolution would continue to exist - this has been a worry for years now as relegation has become more of a likely reality, because the club really cannot afford any kind of monetary fine. Even now, the club is run off the back of High interest loans from our prospective buyers 777, and them pulling out of negotiation off the back of this controversy might just as easily cause administration.
      The only bright side of all this as a Toffee beyond the huge bond we have as a fanbase, is the quality of our play right now. You are entirely correct to say, I am confident we avoid relegation. - were playing well beyond the quality even 14th place showed us to be playing like, and I believe we will react at least acceptably on the pitch.
      Great video though, happy to help give any perspective from a Toffee. COYB

    It is genuinely disgusting what is happening to this league. Im an Everton supporter, and while I do agree we have broken *A* rule over the past two years, it is something that comes out of desperate times (covid, bad ownership, unforeseen stadium costs). City is a club that ive been fond of for sometime for a few reasons, but even as a “supporter” I recognized that we broke rules. Clubs like City and Chelsea will never be deducted points (not now, atleast) because of the social attention they bring the league. They have been trying to dismantle the league both overtly and secretly for years (as we saw with the failed super league) but continue to be served their crowns on gold platters. Everton may deserve something bad, but there are far too many clubs who deserve worse.

    • @gentleken7864
      @gentleken7864 10 месяцев назад +5

      Absolutely. The fact that City have been proven to have broken FFP rules over a hundred times is a cause for concern given that Everton were given this punishment. The clubs who were relegated can also put the boot in on Everton. Which, to me, seems why nothing will happen to City. Can you imagine taking the titles back from them? Then the second-placed teams being awarded those titles? The rules should be the same for everyone, not just for those clubs who can hire the most expensive lawyers. The PL is just a corrupt organisation from top to bottom. No better than FIFA in that respect.

      @@glencurtis6052 UEFA's original FFP case from 2019 said that prosecution was time-barred for 5 years. City's serious FFP rule-breaking was from 2012-2013. That is why they couldn't charge City. But the PL has no such time-barring for prosecution. And they can proceed with this....but probably won't, making this Everton punishment all the more myopic. City were proven to have obstructed the investigation too by dragging their feet in the UEFA investigation. Like I said, they can hire the expensive lawyers and the owners have said as much.

    • @notaduck4963
      @notaduck4963 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@gentleken7864I think you're jumping the gun here. It makes sense that a legal team like theirs would go for the quickest way to drop all charges. Even if it's not the most future proof, they would need to shut that down immediately. It's fairly obvious that the main reason why the fa is stepping in and putting the charges is to stop the government from getting more involved. The charges were placed to make the fa look competent, if city is innocent or not is a secondary concern to them. The reason why they are even able to fight the charges is because they couldn't prove them in the first place. At the moment they aren't guilty. While they most likely did break some sort of rule, it's mostly definitely going to a lot smaller than what we are currently seeing. Expect a simple points deduction and fine.

It's such a "big embarrassment" for the English Football if the club that owns this ground only played in the second division for a couple of years, while the stadium could be used for the international matches of England and the other European competitions outside Euro 2028.

    I get Man City I most definitely guilty on at least 1 of those 115 charges but that’s just it it’s a 115 not 1. At the end of the day if Everton broke the rules they should receive the consequences however I do feel bad for the fans this isn’t their fault it’s their irresponsible owners fault. If this happened to wolves I’d be fuming so they have every right to be angry. And as for city I’d say if they are found guilty on even 10 of those charges their treble should be stripped and given to the runners up who they faced during those wins and expulsion from the EPL to whatever league is most proportionate with the level of breaches and they should also receive a transfer ban.

    I think Everton will still stay up with 30-35 points, but they are lucky it wasnt last year the deduction was put in place.

    I mean Chelsea spent over a billion dollars in TWO seasons and they only recuperated 336+ million in transfers so at the very least 600 million is just gone in transfers... like are you fucking joking?
    Of course I don't want us to be punished but we broke the rules and it's not surprising we were punished. But where the fuck did the points deduction come from? And don't even get me started on Man City. Fuck all is going to happen to them and yet here we are, back in the relegation battle.

    To me. I don't think it's as harsh as it sounds. Yes, in context of a gram scheme of things, it looks completely bad, given the number of things in a sense that Everton have apparently broke the rule by. They can feel hard done by. Much like before I go onto my next point, that it's unfair in sense that other clubs have supposedly broken the rules, yet, aren't punished, yet Everton ARE. But here is the thing.
    If you break the rules, you must be punished. Simple as.
    Again, yes the City thing comes into effect cause of it, but my issue more so, lies with the PL. The PL are a JOKE in the sense of how they've handled this. Where you agree with it being harsh, or not. Everton have been made a scapegoat, and it's appaling. While I feel for those clubs that went down, and feel like that Everton, if they got deducted points, that it should've happened last season, and given them a chance to stay up, so of course they'd want a word, I get that. But again, it's more poor from the PL side.
    Sorry Vizeh, but in my last point, even with a 10 point deduction, Everton for my view, would STILL stay up above Luton, Seff, and Burnley with how it's going. But again, this just feels like the PL want a gold star medal for being a good noodle, showing 'oh look at us, we can enforce rules.' when only they know full well, it won't look bad, as Everton might more than likely be fine even if so. It's no more than a fake PR stunt to look good, while they seemingly, continue to not enforce the rules on other current on going cases. Yes I know those are different, but that's just how I see it.

    Just FYI Everton were hit hardest in commercial revenues mitigation. The flippant tone is unjustified for that mitigation. Everton secured stadium naming rights deal worth up to £200m that was taken away in that 3yr cycle. This fell through when USM shareholders were sanctioned for Russian operations. This was due to a war. Also the 1 breach is relating to interest payments on building a stadium. Which other club was building a stadium during covid? Do you know what happened to the price of construction?

    City - as much as full expulsion may be warranted, it won’t happen. I think the best outcome (from a fair perspective) is the below, but the likelihood is a simple ban from transfer market and cup competitions.

    The equivalence with Portsmouth is treachorous
    If your club goes into administration they can't hold on to your best players because they're free to go, they can't spend money on new players and nobody wants to sign for them anyway because of the uncertainty over the future.
    Administration basically carries it's own punishment. The points penalty from the league is just one more thing.

    This is Everton's own fault for not being wealthier! How long have they had playing at the very highest level, probably longer than anyone else. Why can't they buy their way out of everything by now? Where is this fairy tale world so many of you are from where fairness, equality and integrity are held in the highest esteem? Because over here where we all currently are, it's all about money. Everything has a price and you can do anything as long as you can pay for it.
