Thanks for the tutorial! I adapted your technique to rotate the polarizer on an alarm clock LCD. It's now inverted (bright numbers on dark background) and no no longer illuminates the entire bedroom at night. Also looks much better. Heating up the blade of a box cutter and the display itself with a hot air gun a little was sketchy, but got it done in the end. Removing the glue from the filter was a pain and it got scratched up quite a bit, but for the display of an alarm clock it's good enough. :) Thanks for sharing your tricks for us all to learn!
Hi Justin. I bought a 21.5" monitor for my boat chartplotter. The screen is polarized, and I can't see it with my polarized sunglasses. Can I remove the polarizer layer from a monitor that big?
Probably a bad idea. Would need to replace with a polarizer that’s the correct degree. But if it’s bonded to the display. If you have not done it before it’s a quick way into a new display overall. This is something that needs a little practice. But on that note. If you turn the display or the sunglasses does it help? Maybe possible to flip it upside down and change the polarization axis a bit.
So how do you replace the Polarizer and AMOLED onto the LED display? I screwed up and scraped that gold AMOLED from the LED display and the Polarizer was still stuck to the glass I removed from my Samsung Galaxy s10+ is this salvageable? if so how do I do it and where do I get the gold foil and polarizer? I just want to fix it not even so it works but just to look good enough to replace as a dead phone I can trade in for my warranty replacement unit.
Hey man! Could you tell me please any guides to identify polarizer film used for AMOLED displays? I want to identify these films for 2014-2016 devices, for Lumia 950 XL in particular
Hi how do you get 1080@60fps out of your Logitech-C930e RUclips plays this video back @1080@60fps can you explain that or are you using a different camera than the one you have listed ?
I am still using the 930e for the side cam. ( hands ) All you gota do is set obs to capture 60fps in the base canvas, this will still allow output of 60fps but not actually be 60fps. its still 30. I will be updating the list across all videos hopefully later today, where i will include pretty much any, and all my new gear. =)
Not sure on the temp, just a normal 35w hot blade, you may need to get something lower wattage or maybe move a little quicker. =) I appreciate the view and comment, hope to see you in the comments again in the future!
Removing polarizer is one thing, but some info about applying them would be helpful. Different polarizers have different marking for which side goes where. Some have a letter (like R), some red bars, some dots, it's inconsistent and sometimes hard to spot. They also come with glue on one side, but for some reason, after applying on AMOLED screens display is still too bright and only applying it the other side (side with glue against the screen instead) makes it the correct color but there's no way to apply it then. I can't really find any info about it.
Nice vid. Would have liked to see the whole process, cleaning the LCD and replacement polarizer application (dust free chamber required?). Also, do you find that the replacement polarizer looks identical? Where do you buy these from? Also do you find that OCA sheets vary in quality greatly? Where do you buy your OCA sheets from? Do you refurb Samsung Edge displays? Cheers
You all prolly dont care at all but does anybody know a tool to get back into an instagram account? I stupidly lost the login password. I would love any help you can give me!
@Lee Howard i really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and im in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.

Does changing the polarizer fix the jerry rig burn test thingy that yellowish tint fron burn?
Where can someone go to buy a polarizer layer to replace the existing one if it was stuck to the glass?

TheArtofRepair Hi Thanks for the reply ! Which camera is the front on camera that looks at you ? As that seems to be great quality !👍
amzn.to/2gyiiaX Logitech Brio4k, 1080p in 60fps mode is the only viable mode. it claims 4k but its terrible
TheArtofRepair Hi thanks for the reply !👍
Awesome video, I am still not got into refurb but with your advice it might soon be a option :) btw love your passion !
Everytime I remove the polarized with that hot blade, it kind of burn the lcd. What is the tempersture on the blade?
