    I've been telling people for decades that heavy shift knobs only increase your chances of damaging the synchros. I thought it was common sense, but turns out that it isn't. I love the yelling part of the vid.

    You are correct, sir! My shift knob is a plain black Delrin sphere. So lightweight it only takes two fingers to shift and it's warmer in winter than those icy metal knobs;)

    i got a weighted knob as my first "Mod" (No clue there was a difference at the time). Now a few years later I'm upgrading the shifter and bushings, only to find I've been running this heavy ass diamond Like Wise knob and potentially hurting my STi 6-speed. Went to find my OEM knob in the garage but i must've throw it out one day.

    What if you are using a slightly heavier Knob but not super heavy like the one in the video? Like a 650g knob? Is that too heavy? Pretty sure that knob you have is like 1000g which is almost double what I have 😂

    • @GetaDomTune
      @GetaDomTune  Год назад +3

      I've never put them on a scale, but the heavier the knob, the faster the wear and the greater chance of damage to the trans. Lighter is better.

    There are lots of videos talking about the advantages of using a weighted shift knob. Obviously there is a limit. What weight would you recommend, or do you think those other videos are complete nonsense?

    • @GetaDomTune
      @GetaDomTune  11 месяцев назад

      I can't think of a single advantage

    • @BOBimusRex
      @BOBimusRex 11 месяцев назад

      @GetaDomTune Please do! Let me know what you think. Essentially, though, they say weighted shift knobs give shifts a smoother, easier, more deliberate feel. I ended up ordering a new knob yesterday. Not weighted, but aluminum instead of plastic. Should be a bit heavier. I was trying to figure out what weight to buy before I saw your video. Then I figured I'd just get something that looks cool. We'll see in a couple weeks when it gets here. 🤷‍♂️

    • @GetaDomTune

      @GetaDomTune Hey man, I didn't invent them, and I'm not trying to defend them. I was just letting you know that weighted shift knobs are a whole market, with several companies focusing on just that. Don't shoot the messenger. And no, none of them "confirm its bad for the trans."
