Love the hacking news, this has quickly become one of my favorite you tube channels. I remember having a hacked original Xbox as a kid, I never understood all the details other than there was a chip soldered to the motherboard, but know I kinda understand how it works.
So much cooler when you know the struggle behind it! Thanks for watching
I always look forward to your uploads! You are genuinely my favorite person on this platform right now. Your delivery and setting is just top notch, kudos to your production quality. Will keep supporting and watching all your stuff, wishing you the best mate! I recently graduated with my Comp Sci degree and I attribute it 100% to my fascination with JTAGing the Xbox 360 to host modded lobbies in Call of Duty. Warms my heart seeing it full circle!
Congratulations on your degree! Very cool to hear your motivation, it’s amazing what can drive us to learn and grow!
The Xbox hack reminded me of 40 years ago when I worked on one of the first AT&T 3B2 computers in the UK. If you lost the root password there was a combination of keys you could press at boot that would prompt you for a 'firmware password'. That password was 'mcp', it was the same on every box. #goodolddays
Sweet sweet back doors!
I've recently bought a broken dell Wyse aio 22", when I fixed the pc, the I was prompted for a password, the 2 minute search revealed that allmostall Wyse have fireport as a password,on the other hand default ME pass is sth like 1password or so :(, great that I am, I mean ME DISABLED
On our PDP-11 at college, the "secret combination of keys" was just to hit CTRL-C during boot-up.
@@edgeeffectoh I remember the bug in Linux kernel 2.4.
Just press space and hold it to crash the boot process , then you get a shell with PID 1 to play.
Rember when bash was PID1 because of stupid SysV init process ? That's how.
I also remember the trick on Windows Server of just copying cmd.exe over osk.exe and using the accessibility button to have a privileged superadnin (aka root) account, then you could just reset the admin password , or add another admin account .
That doesn't worn anymore because integrity don't check only if files are signed by Microsoft, but also they're the proper files by their SHA hash.
OpenSCAD, its missing a lot of features but many can be added back with plugins. And I can build must stuff I need.
I enjoy your show.
You are right about cloud and other pieces of software with subscription base.
Also, I ran a piece of software created 2003 but died in 2023. It was licensed and wouldn't run again. An "out of business" software company with an OPC bridge between 2 servers stopped. That would be a nice project for 'right to repair'.
Keep the vids coming.
Love the videos, love the suit and watch.
Nice and interesting topics
10/10 would watch again
Nice content! I remember following along with Bunny's progress on I think his blog? at the time. It was exciting even though I never owned an Xbox. I did later get a launch day Wii and softmodded it which lead to a little bit of homebrew fun. Watching that team with dozens of needlepoint leads sniffing the Wii chips, it was an interesting era.
I love that special JTAG adaptor, it's by Travis Goodspeed. He's a top tier hacker too - deserves a mention. 😁
I learn so much when I watch these, keep up the great work!
Great channel, with informative news delivered to perfection 🙂
only been watching a little whille but reallly like your approach with the suit and tie shakes things up keep it up great content
Awesome.. keep us entertained with those very nice videos.. we love them 😁
Your videos are a treat!
This is like when I hear from that one super smart best friend that I can only catch up with like maybe once a week. And I don't know what to expect but I know what ever I hear is going to blow my mind about things that I didn't even know were possible. Ty
I remember using the 007 agent under fire game and a blob of solder to crack the box back in the day. I wasn't as into this stuff then, I was a dirt poor university student haha.
Never underestimate the power of Poor University Students! 😁
I remember when CPU emulators started hitting eBay years ago, for CPU's made in the 1980's that had sockets, but to build a board to install between a soldered in CPU is about as hard core as it gets. Now that is what I call an obsession, lol!
My thoughts exactly! 😂
Much easier for that pre-BGA era. Making it isn't half the problem, the big problem is not melting everything getting the chip off and then doing BGA rework to get it back on.
I am trying out Open PLC. So far so good in regards to microcontrollers and Ladder Logic.
Thanks for sharing, adding it to my list. Never heard of that one before.
hmmm. I wonder if I know you...
Love those boundary scan debug tools, they were like magic back when the Pentium chips were new, prior to that you needed some serious hardware including bond out chips to get into the proper guts of a system but wow they really did get you into the weeds and you completely owned the system.
Well done sir, lovely content!
🙏
Such a cool video. :) What is that awesome watch this gentleman is wearing?.
www.kickstarter.com/projects/920064946/oscilloscope-watch
There is a new glitching techique presented in ccc vid, issue mass erase, glitch the flash erase part and it continues to remove the read protection fuse
I’ll check it out!
You are one of my favorite channels on you tube
Thanks! Glad you enjoy the videos 😀
Netcat, tcpdump, binwalk, two wires in different colours, pincette and for things I don't know a few of duckduckgos
Its a pity that netcat couldnt combine functions of dd - it would take 10 years to reach all of linuces ... no, lets stay with two separate commands :)
Wireshark, Ghidra, sigrok.
Reminds me of the HTC hd2 days of grounding the clock line to open the bootloader . . .
I have always developed my own hacking software tools as the stuff i hack is usually very customised
binwalk and Ghidra are good for everywhere.
5:48 how do you desolder glued chip, or is it glued?
Love this program. Here- have some engagement ❤
✋
Radare2 is my favorite debugging tool :)
I have to read a bit more about Radare2 and Rizin, seem similar. Thanks for commenting!
@@RECESSIM I want to ask do you have a plan to mention about Fuzzing, for example with afl or afl++
In a video I mean :) If your already have I did not see :(
I'd like to see a Radare vs Ghidra "smackdown" genuinely interested to see who'd come out on top.
nice watch 😉
IDK, if your watch is not at least a four channel terahertz vector network analyzer is it really worth having?
This 👆🏽
yes! open source!!! more,more!
Thanks!
Have a great weekend mate!
@@RECESSIM You too! 🤠
Quality content
Nice watch 😋
meld for comparing files
Thanks! Added it to my new list, never heard of it before.
I use it at work all the time. My bosses love branches and `meld` helps me climb out of merge-hell.
Great content as always! I eagerly await for this drop every week! I might not have a life, but at least I'm not watching stupid cat ticks on TicTok, or retards eating Tide pods.
Nice oscilloscope watch! (:
I like random yt recommendations
3d paper clip done with gimp and blender?
Nah, stole it from google 😂
Let me pull out my average JTAG adapter that we all have sitting in a drawer somewhere... 😁
You know you have one 😁
I have two home made, the question is "which drawers are these?" :). The pigeon hole principle plus Murphy law say that I will hit the empty drawers first :)
Hi do you know anything about the black book you seemed to be talking about if you know anything about the attacks if you know what I mean
I need your help if you know something please reply if you are aware of what’s going on
Please describe the nature of your issue using plain language.
Ok I’ve been attacked on you tube like there is something on you tube may be the AI I don’t know but there are things that happens like I see it’s like some flashy images people that I don’t know it’s something Evil like something controlling your mind earlier it could suck out any info from your brain and it’s in sync with the algorithm I’ve complained on many comments but I don’t know if any action was taken once I saw a black book and a guy with a cricket suit I think he wore some glasses ok the thing is it’s evil it’s on the network it’s been there from 2020 august but recently the attacks were more there were some drones out side my window some days but I feel they had something to do with it its I think got the power to attack because it can make you feel breathless n stabbing pain in chest also when i sleep there some kind of a eye like thing that come and once there was a red eye then it was on you tube some one was in control of my phone I think I asked you because when I saw the black book the very next day I think or maybe the same day you spoke about the black book so I wanted to know if you now something anyway it’s very dangerous I hope Someone knows
Ok there is something weird going on you tube and on the network it’s the AI with some quantum thing sounds weird but true it’s been attacking me like taking my mind to all sort of places like I can feel it and see it so when I close my eyes I see some thing and then it’s on the tv or it been on the algorithm of you tube it real when I sleep there is some grainy looking thing like the tv has when it sometimes looks grainy then i there is a eye like thing which comes sounds silly but like the one in mission impossible exactly like that and it shows me some thing it controls mind it’s flashing images and they have been on you tube the next moment I need your help becoz some one is in control of it since 2020August some one has being developing this I think at least of hat I experienced it’s like a horror it can suck out any information from you so it’s like it talks in my mind some times Theresa lot
Can someone tell me what the point of hacking the Xbox would be?
I bought an original Xbox with the xenium chip in it and 60 games
Unable to join Discord. Unable to accept the invite, is what it says when I try and join. UPDATE: I copied the link and joined using the Discord app and that worked.
Thanks for letting me know, I’ve heard this happen a couple times. Did you try to open the link from the YT description while in the mobile app? Curious the path it is failing.
@@RECESSIM I clicked on the link from the YT description on my Windows 11 desktop computer. I was using the Brave Web browser.
literally everything is on ebay😭
It shouldn’t, but it literally surprises me every time 😂
Imhex
Thanks for sharing, saw that a while back and forgot about it. Added it to a new list I’m starting.
Hi isnt it supposed to be weekly news? When I type the name of a sponsor with 1 c I am getting racism videos :(
I’m editing the video now! It’ll be live tomorrow morning GMT-5. An exciting story and some exciting news for the channel so wasn’t able to get the video out Friday. Happy you’re trying to find it though!
Oh im sorry, please no need to explain yourself - youre the broadcasting boss with a ... flipper :) (ok... "with a glock", flipper might have some bad bios connotations. I made mistake and was looking for reccesim - which brings the same outputs as recessim phrase@@RECESSIM Thank you for the good work - didnt want to complain just to show attention in youtube... algo-flipper
New policy. When a video gets interrupted for an advert and I must wait more than 10 seconds for the advert to load, I leave a dislike for the video. Furthermore, when I am recommended a video more than twice that I have alread seen, it gets a thumbs down. My recommendations are simply a treadmill anymore. YT isn't listening to me, so maybe the content providers can get their attention. It's nothing personal.
Surprised you keep getting recommended the same video you have already seen. I’ve thought about creating a Patreon or some other monetized platform where I post videos with no ads, and perhaps some extra thoughts at the end.
In the end, I am trying to find a way to generate useful content as a full time occupation so to avoid subscription fees I went with ads. But I feel your pain 😂
@RECESSIM ads are fine. I get it. Nothing is free. RUclips has been ruined by investors' greed. Their only concern is income (and politics) despite the pain to users and content creators.
If I subscribe to a channel, I no longer see new content from that channel appear in the "feed." I must dig for it. I don't do notifications as I don't want my phone blowing up with notifications.
If I watch a video and hit the like button, I continually see it in my "feed." If I do not hit the like button I generally don't see it in the "feed," but will see in the "watch again" section.
I have discovered if I hit dislike, that's the end of it and different videos from years past show up in the "feed." So, that's where I am.
The recommendations are so out of touch that it's laughable. If I'm searching for computer programming topics, a few legit computer programming related videos show up, then it's videos about cats. I have sent countless messages through yt feedback and I know no one reads it. Software does. Therefore, my feedback will never be acted upon by yt.
Every creator asks for subs and likes thinking it helps get their channel noticed. Some creators are expressing their concern about a decline in viewership. I'm beginning to believe yt is screwing us all, and the creators aren't being paid what they deserve as yt is jacking with the viewer numbers. I can see this by looking at my past viewing history and see they have marked videos as seen by me that I simply stopped scrolling in the "feed" and, indeed, did NOT watch.
Intro ads - annoying. Mid roll ads - almost intolerable. End of roll ads - best option - we've finished watching and can just turn the sound off - so the creator gets some of the advertiser's money and we don't have to listen to the garbage. ;)
@@edgeeffect my bitch regarding ads is the extended delay waiting for the ad to load so it can burn my data...
get Brave!
built in adblocker even for youtube
Scoppy & ooenocd.
You and Rossmann need to link up. His last vid was interesting.
Thanks for sharing, never heard of Scoppy! OpenOCD definitely needs to be on my list. Which Rossmann video? Love his fighting for our right to repair.
Made two days ago about Scientology opposing R2R.
I've used `flashrom` a lot
Thanks, just used it too on a Pi!
The first thrown card contained "hello" :)
