Xon is the Vulcan that was proposed to replace Spock in the unmade Phase II series. We have taken on this character in our series, but keep Spock as well. The director preferred a different take on Kirk and we did not want an imitation Shatner. We prefer it that way.
Okay but what's the deal with those goofy overalls?! Funny how this shows up in my RUclips recommendations list just a few weeks after I did the Set Tour up in Ticonderoga, and saw Shatner give a presentation at a nearby location. If you're a STAR TREK fan, you owe it to yourself to do the Set Tour where they filmed this. It's an almost 100% perfect re-creation of the Desilu set -- my sole quibble being that the dual STARDATE and SHIPBOARD TIME chronometers in front of the Captain's Chair on the Bridge didn't quite match what was depicted in the TOS episode 'The Naked Time" and is shown on the Franz Joseph STAR FLEET TECHNICAL MANUAL. They're supposed to have the STARDATE clock on the Left, counting upwards from "0000.0" to "9999.9" once every decade, and the SHIPBOARD clock on the Right, counting up from "00:00:00" to "23:59:59" once every day. Perhaps Mr. Cawley (et al.) built that part of the Bridge set based on a set of blueprints that had been later revised for "The Naked Time" when it was filmed, the plot requiring that they be able to see Time flowing backwards before they reversed the engines so that Time could begin to flow forwards again. Ah, well! Just one minor discrepancy on an otherwise perfect re-creation of the original sets! I hope Mr. Cawley & Crew don't let my minor criticism bother them -- that's the trouble with quibbles . . . 😁
Abonniert! Bin seit meinem 7.Lebensjahr Trekkie und liebe es! Eure Filme sind richtig gut gemacht, es wird Wissen vermittelt 🖖und auch sehr berührend 🥰. Applause for all the actors who are really actually doing a decent job with expressing human emotions and not just reading a script. You could all be sitting in a card board box and it wouldn't matter. The acting is worth more than a set, always.
I enjoyed the reboot for its own reasons. It was fast paced and action packed. Shows like this one... faithful to TOS... are often seen as drawn out. I would call them... cerebral. They give us time to process the information. To empathize with the characters. They're focused on interpersonal and situational drama. Both have their audiences... but we're all fans of startrek.
well we wont have to worry about the Abrams/kelvin timelineverse the only thing thats been hated more than that kelvintimeline/Abramsverse-trek is Discovery/Picard trek if u hardcore trekies can either call it or hate it much of a form of star trek much.
Actually this WAS originally written for the Original Phase II canceled series that was in production in the 1970s. It was then adapted for TNG later, along with several other episodes. NV/P2 just restored it to where it was originally.
That episode was based on an episode of a Trek series that was to have been made in 1978, a sequel to the Original Series. However, things fell apart, and the series was never made. However, one of the episode scripts was adapted into the first Star Trek movie, and the script for "The Child" was adapted into the TNG episode of the same name.
First class. Perhaps JJ Abrahms can learn a thing or two from watching these people. And, I say this as a professional Drama School trained actor. You have brought back the 'feeling' of the original show! Well done!
James has to realize that in EVERY single THING in life there will be naysayers. Some people... no matter how hard you try to please them.... you can't! Please tell James that the majority of people LOVE him as KIRK. We also love the episodes! How can we convince Mr Cawley of this?? Seriously James! We love you!!!!
@@startrekphase2DE Oh crap, I did not know that. Seriously, James Cawley is a great Kirk who has enough of the more subtle 'Shatner-isms' to be recognizable as Kirk, but enough of his own traits added in to make his version an interesting one. As an example, Cawley plays Kirk as a slightly more compassionate and empathetic individual, thereby putting to rest some of the more accurate criticisms of Shatner's Kirk (whom I also like as a character), namely the whole _Kirk the interstellar stud muffin who goes whoring around the galaxy screwing every available female and starting wars_ 😆😅😂😹
This is extremely well done ~ kudos primarily to James Cawley, but also to all involved in the production👏👏 Any special reason why Chekov is wearing red in this episode? Was he temporarily transferred from command crew to engineering and communications🤔🤷
Kirk0 didn't seem to think outside the box; at least in this episode. When the translation of Cryantha was revealed as "unnecessary shell" it all came clear to me. They abandoned their planet because they were evolving into a higher life form. Their shell, so to speak, was their corporeal body. Once they had evolved, they no longer needed this shell. Hence "unnecessary shell". I can see Spock not jumping to conclusions, but Kirk? The best captain in the Federation starfleet? He should have realized this fairly quickly and given it serious consideration. Still a very good story. Thanks for making this and sharing it.
This was a lot better than the TNG version. Glad Jon Povill got to see his original version as written for the original Phase II back in the 70's come to life as seen here as that script was very well done. Talk about coming full circle in some ways. Makes me wish more of the aborted original Phase II series from the 70's with Kirk and Co. had gotten the chance to become reality as quite a few of those stories deserve to actually be filmed. At least we got to see The Child and Kitumba happen.
Very similar to an episode of TNG but with a few differences. Interesting that the soul essence was required to have specific experiences while in a physical form. Quite fascinating.
So far with all that I have seen with Star Trek Phase II....I am glad that this was made. When Star Trek originally came about, I was always watching every episode, my favorite was The Trouble with Tribbles, it was so funny and with a good story line, plus I also kept a watch on the Space Program and NASA, the Lunar Landings, etc., ever since Sputnik was big in the news. I do believe space travel is possible, but humanity is NOT ready for it....too much Hatred and Greed going around, plus disrespect for life itself and too many wars in destroying others....we are way too childish in our actions towards such a venture, plus very unknowledgeable within our own time frame to accomplish such a feat of daring and lack the knowledge to do anything more than think about it......we are NOT taking care of this planet very well, and need to recycle more instead of throwing everything into landfills, etc. Even with all of our technology, we lack the true wisdom to use it properly.....what a waste of good minds and humanity.

It's an almost 100% perfect re-creation of the Desilu set -- my sole quibble being that the dual STARDATE and SHIPBOARD TIME chronometers in front of the Captain's Chair on the Bridge didn't quite match what was depicted in the TOS episode
'The Naked Time" and is shown on the Franz Joseph STAR FLEET TECHNICAL MANUAL. I hope Mr. Cawley & Crew don't let my minor criticism bother them -- that's the trouble with quibbles . . . 😁
Abonniert!
Applause for all the actors who are really actually doing a decent job with expressing human emotions and not just reading a script. You could all be sitting in a card board box and it wouldn't matter. The acting is worth more than a set, always.
I'm really enjoying these shows they are filling in some of the gaps in the original series
Nicely done!
All these episodes wipe Star Trek Discovery into the dirt! I love it!
Danke das du einen deutschen Untertitel machst
soo damn beautiful..two entirely diff aspects of life one corporal one pure energy..sharing emotions and life process
Wow this is the real star trek not that Abrams crap
Exactly!!
John couture Gene Roddenberry would be proud.
well we wont have to worry about the Abrams/kelvin timelineverse the only thing thats been hated more than that kelvintimeline/Abramsverse-trek is Discovery/Picard trek if u hardcore trekies can either call it or hate it much of a form of star trek much.
I like how you adapted the Phase II episode the Child just as they adapted for Star Trek TNG.
The dialogues towards the end (sp the childs mothers) are almost philosophical.
Actually this WAS originally written for the Original Phase II canceled series that was in production in the 1970s. It was then adapted for TNG later, along with several other episodes. NV/P2 just restored it to where it was originally.
these people must really really really be hardcore fans of StarTrek.....out of this world acting and editting! ;)
Wow. Their best one yet.
Very good, thanks for downloading
Mil gracias por seguir con el proyecto. Excelente!
Awesome!!!! What a fantastic production.
That is what a "In Memory of" title is for, to commemorate people related to the production who have died.
I loved it, well done, another brilliant episode.
Really enjoy your shows! Keep em coming. =]
This is fantastic well done 👏 😁👍
That episode was based on an episode of a Trek series that was to have been made in 1978, a sequel to the Original Series. However, things fell apart, and the series was never made. However, one of the episode scripts was adapted into the first Star Trek movie, and the script for "The Child" was adapted into the TNG episode of the same name.
Great shots of outside of the Enterprise
First class. Perhaps JJ Abrahms can learn a thing or two from watching these people. And, I say this as a professional Drama School trained actor. You have brought back the 'feeling' of the original show! Well done!
Great to hear that. We often only read fans commenting on how bad our acting is. It was such comments that made James quit the role of Kirk.

Oh crap, I did not know that.
To me, there are two Captain Kirks: William Shatner and James Cawley.
This is extremely well done ~ kudos primarily to James Cawley, but also to all involved in the production👏👏 Any special reason why Chekov is wearing red in this episode? Was he temporarily transferred from command crew to engineering and communications🤔🤷
These are well done!
At least we got to see The Child and Kitumba happen.
and World Enough and Time!
Very similar to an episode of TNG but with a few differences. Interesting that the soul essence was required to have specific experiences while in a physical form. Quite fascinating.
I didn’t know that this series was made by a fan, I’ll hear more production, the humble material and the plot was very good, congratulations to all.
Keep up the great work with the show, btw!
Wonderful. I love this. 👏🌹💚Ulan from Brazil.
Story is "borrowed" from the space 1999 episode "Alpha Child ", isn't it ?
Why is it so dark on the bridge? LOL did they forget to pay their electric bill? 🤣🤣🤣
Great Episode 👍👍.
Amen, sister.
