Back in 1991 I bought the compilation CD "The Very Best of Marc Bolan and T-Rex" which somehow left out their biggest hit 'Bang a Gong (Get It On).' So a couple of years ago I decided to make a disc to compliment it and as often happens I ended up making 2 discs for a total of 53 tracks.
I hadn't heard of Sparks until about a year ago, don't know how they slipped by me but I made a disc of their music too.

Great video! Gonna have to check out that T Rex cd. Random question...what kind of camera do you use to record the videos?

The song 20th Century Boy is also good intro song to TRex. Except for The Beatles no longer being together, the early 70's was such a great period for rock n roll.

24-hour Jinx cam, please! Tony Visconti also produced Mary Hopkin, who was also his wife. The lyric you quoted as not making sense actually makes perfect sense, and it's a great lyric. Bolan's best song, IMHO, is "Cosmic Dancer," with the amazing opening line, "I danced myself out of the womb."

"Baby Strange".......one of my most favorite songs, yep one of my favorite albums. Excellent choice for an underrated rock album! The one I bought had a second cd with all these songs in acoustic versions with studio out takes and interviews

Jinx in a tight Squeeze , but man is she limber, very cat like. T-Rex ( Jeepster ) is my favorite song. This is a real classic album for it's time. Marc Bolan died way too young.

I first heard the song "Bang a Gong, Get it On" back in 1985 by THE POWERSTATION (featuring Robert Palmer and the Duran Duran boys). From there, I was introduced to the music of T-REX and my life hasn't been the same since :-) Rock on Jinxy!!

I've never heard the whole album but back in 1975, I purchased a top 20 European Hit Parade album in the Netherlands while I was on vacation with my parents. 20th Century Boy by T Rex was one of the songs on it. I also brought back the UK soundtrack of the movie Tommy. I wish I held on to my vinyl records. Oh the record store in Utrecht was amazing. You could listen to albums on headphones before purchasing . Even Sam the Record Man in Toronto or Star Records in Lindsay didn't have that kind of personalized service.

I love The Slider! I too got it on vinyl when it first came out (or rather my parents did as I was only nine) I don't think they had fully understood what some of the lyrics were about but then neither did I - and in some cases still don't.
I don't know how T Rex fared abroad but in Britain this was THE album. It was downhill after that saleswise and to an extent quality wise. Personally I still liked the others before and after but if I was to recommend a T Rex album to someone it would, without doubt, be this one!
    Enjoy!!

Let’s not forget the first 4 albums Marc made as Tyrannosaurus Rex. Each one a classic.

Loved T-rex (Bolan) as long as I have loved the Beatles... For me the best album is 'Electric Warrior' followed by 'T-rex' (Self Titled) then 'The Slider' but gems and pearls can be be found on all Marc's albums, and each of them need several listens before being rejected as vastly inferior... His Tyrannosaurus Rex album output is also essential listening especially 'Unicorn' and 'Beard of stars'... Like Bowie his pre fame work should also not be overlooked... Songs like 'Beyond The Rising Sun', 'Cat Black', 'Eastern Spell' & 'You Scare Me To Death' are at least as good as 'Love You Till Tuesday', 'When I Live My Dream', 'Please Mr Gravedigger' Etc!... If you was to make your own compilation of the best of Marc's work 80+ great tracks is very possible... Remember he died in 1977 so if that fatal crash had never taken place his catalog would be much greater, also he had just slimmed down and was having a resurgence at the time of his death...

Thanks, Larry, for those likes and hearts :D I do LOVE the Buick Makane song (thanks for the shout out from Noel Gallagher, he bought a T. Rex CD from Amoeba).

I love T-Rex and I love Marc Bolan's song writing...... I love Marc 😊 Spaceball Richocet, The Slider, Ballrooms of Mars and Chariot Choogle are my favourites. I like all T-Rex albums including Tyrannosaurus Rex. Hard to choose a favourite album but I love Tanx, T-Rex, A Beard of Stars and The Slider. I think I read somewhere that Ringo didn't take the cover photo despite being credited......?

Marc Bolan had his very own sound Larry and was the father of glam rock with his slowed down sleazy form of rock and roll and yes Ringo Starr was indeed a big fan,big is the key word here Larry because compared to Marc Bolan our little Ringo was a big man!,Marc Bolan was very, very tiny, you also mentioned the song Bang A Gong Larry,I consider Bang A Gong to be the sexiest song ever made, the song just oozes sex,in Britain T-Rex were monstrously huge,so huge in fact that they created a phenomena that the British press called T-Rextasy,a ,kind of T-Rex version of Beatlemania, why the band were never promoted properly in North America I don't know, maybe T-Rex were just to far out at the time for North American audiences to accept, interestingly enough the British singer that the powers that be did promote instead was a young British singer named David Bowie!,two great talents indeed and yes I did own The Slider album Larry,I also owned Electric Warrior and Tanks as well,Marc Bolan was born to boogie and there was no one out there that could boogie like Marc Bolan and T-Rex! Bob.

Congos is the Genesis song Congo played 23 times in a row, Billy Congas is the Smashing Pumpkins leader. I'm lying about one of these two, guess which one ^^

If you like t rex listen to seen the light by supergrass. Gaz Coombs does a spot on imitation of Bolans warble and even does a quick elvis parody. Great song.

I agree it's probably as good as Electric Warrior, but I put it second. Favorite songs by Bolan are Jewel, 20th Century Boy, and Children Of The Revolution, though.

The back-to-back albums Electric Warrior and The Slider are both very good. Certainly the best from T Rex. I think it's too close to call as to which is better. The next album, Tanx, is also good, but not quite up to the standards of the other two.

Great album! I might slightly prefer Electric Warrior because the first 4 tracks are so otherworldly great, but this is right up there. Disagree with not liking his lyrics, I think they are brilliantly nonsensical, perfect for the glam rock genre.
    favorite tracks:
    Metal Guru
    Mystic Lady
    The Slider
    Spaceball Ricochet
    Telegram Sam
    Rabbit Fighter
    Main Man
