I never realilzed that the "Brown" detectors started out white...but the fireproof coating changes colors over time, which helps let you know when they've expired. I always wondered why someone would pick that ugly brown color, lol.
I'm pretty sure that's a house where someone smoked, I'm replacing my alarms that are 10 years old today and they are still as white as the day I installed them.
@@weekendhomeprojects hmm, maybe some do change color over time, im not sure. Maybe it depends on the conditions in the house, light, heat, humidity etc.
I've had a dismantled fire alarm in my bed room for the last 2 years. Guess this video is a sign that I need to replace it. Thanks for the link!
Fire alarms are a cruel mistress.
Beautiful voice, thanks for the info!!

Yessir!
Thank you sir!
how would you remove the host (the rectangle box) inside the ceiling?
I wonder what ladder he used to reach that alarm
He missed that part I can’t fix it
The light on mine is changing between red and green. What does that mean? Bad connection ?
Can’t twist mine back in
Don't forget to purchase a CO alarm only because you replace a smoke and carbon monoxide alarm for just a smoke alarm
Should have gotten a smoke and carbon monoxide alarm to replace the old smoke and carbon monoxide alarm

@@jasonf777 All 8 in the house I bought new 16 years ago are a nasty brown. Smoke free home. I guess they’re all a little different.

Y’all, just do the wiring. I’m 12 years old and I changed hardwired smoke alarms, and I didn’t use any adapters.
Bro i had that alarm no way my dad got rid of two of those
Screw nokia it is pure garbage
