Blade Arcus from Shining (ブレードアークス・フロム・シャイニング) is a fighting game developed by Studio Saizensen and published by Sega. It features characters from the Shining series. The game is a crossover 2D fighting game featuring characters from Shining Blade and Shining Hearts.
Blade Arcus from Shining EX (ブレードアークス・フロム・シャイニング・イーエックス) was released on November 26, 2015 for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, adding new characters. The game was ported to Steam with online lobbies added on July 28, 2016 under the title Blade Arcus from Shining: Battle Arena.
On November 20, 2018, Blade Arcus Rebellion from Shining was announced for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch with a release date of March 14, 2019. It features extra characters from Shining Resonance Refrain.

And the sad thing is that's still the most creative character in the game. It's soul-crushing when the original Shining Force has such an amazing and diverse roster and this game has... one anthro and nothing else but humans. No cool dragon or armadillo knight or turtle monster or jellyfish monster or anything.

I've always felt that this was probably the perfect introductory fighting game for beginners. This or Yatagarasu. The movement is simple yet quick and deliberate. The fighting system isn't overly ornate yet surprisingly deep if you dig long enough. The characters are beautifully realized and magnificently animated. The game even has something of a "story" so to speak to keep it at least that interesting. To bad the steam version was stripped down from the PlayStation version. This game feels like it should have done better than it did but I guess it never really found its audience.

IMO, the roster needed more than just humans and an anthro wolf. The Shining Force franchise was known for having a diverse roster that modern games lack, and so many other anime fighters INSIST on an all-human roster, with even their "fantasy races" just being humans with horns or cat ears or some BS. If they had a diverse roster like the Shining Force games had, they would have stood out way more than they did. Having an anthro wolf puts this above a lot of them, but it's not enough, IMO. Shining Force was way too diverse for me to accept such a generic roster. Even the one non-human is kinda meh.
