**STL IS FAKE NEWS** - At 5:02 I say, "TAILS and Whonix..." WHOOPS! That should be TAILS and QUBES (but Qubes uses Whonix for part of the network stack....)
STL is FAKE NEWS!!
You are fake
It is all pointless if people in your social network use Discord, Facebook.
Snowden said this decades ago, is there no newer better option?
Snowden is a likely CIA asset who's part of a psyop to damage or curtail the activities of the NSA. Real whistleblowers don't get celebrated in the media, they get their lives and reputations ruined (look at what happened to the guy who leaked the CIA Vault 7 hacking tools). I would be cautious about any supposed privacy solutions he recommends people use.
When exposing a crime is treated as committing a crime, you are being ruled by criminals." -Edward Snowden
At least he didn't get rich by insider trading like all the members of the U.S. Congress and Senate
Not to mention the in-your-face millions of dollars and gifts given to them by their "sponsors" (ie blatent bribery). Not surprising that the common Joe falls for the Trump bs.
AFAIK Protonmail didn't hand over the metadata to the authorities, but the account recovery mail address. That address was in Applemail, and Apple handed over the owner information of that account to the authorities.
This should be noted for those who don't follow this sort of thing. Proton enjoys a good reputation for privacy. However, they're still subject to Swiss Law. The activist in question was being pursued under "terrorism" charges, (terrorism is illegal in Switzerland and all) so Proton was obligated to hand over the info they had. Which as it turns out, wasn't much. Proton Mail doesn't ask for a ton of personal info. The one piece of critical information was the email address he used for backup authentication. Using an email address with your Apple ID tied to it isn't typically recommended for trying to stay anonymous.
@@aarongeerer7758 Yeah. Here in Finland we had the so-called "Vastaamo" - case where a hacker stole the database of a psychotherapy center and demanded a ransom from the involved clients. The police caught the hacker and broke the encryption of his server, but they couldn't access Proton and Tutanota's data, so I trust Proton quite a lot.
@@aarongeerer7758 Yeah. Here in Finland we had the so-called "Vastaamo" case, in which a hacker downloaded the client database of a psychotherapy center and blackmailed clients by threatening to disclose the information. The police caught the hacker and, for example, broke the encryption of his server. However, the police did not manage to access the hacker's email accounts located in Proton and Tutanota.

They Need to Stop the Democrats...Republicans are more homeland issues centered...
@@antonyka-pra-rait's still not felt. Collapse is when you feel it.
Let's take Hollywood for example. Hollywood is still making profit, albeit much less than it was making before. With more and more people stoping watching Hollywood it can collapse completely and become totally obscure stuff that people largely forget about. People play games and watch RUclips instead of movies and TV. More and more people are doing it because movies are just not worth it anymore. There was no competition before so people could stand several bad movies in a row. But now? Several bad movies and people just stop watching all Hollywood movies, they watch TV series or sport or play video games or watch RUclips or do something else. There is too much competition for them to swallow it. There is of course old population and people still think that Hollywood stars are important as before. But they are not. Mr Beast is much more famous than any Hollywood star that appeared when Mr Beast appeared. And Mr Beast is probably not as famous as Hollywood star was when Hollywood was a thing.
American products by design have mandatory backdoors at the CPU level. Two examples are the Intel ME and AMD PSP. They don't need to compromise the OS or userland applications.

Ed snowden actually said meta-data is enough info and that the actual subject matter was not needed. Whonix is better than tails because it runs in a two vm's that route everythng through tor and even if your vm is compromised they won't be able get to your actual machine. The cia is getting around end to end encyption by doing client side scanning, which means they can see everything ur doing BEFORE u encrypt. Congress is trying to pass a law right now to allow client side scanning - call your sentaor. the uk has already approved the law
When the government runs theTOR exit nodes... and many of the entry nodes, connecting entry to exit isn't hard. I've heard a story of a person who started up an exit node, and the government came a knockin... told them to get their @$$ off of TOR. (insert implied threat)
The answer I can't seem to find is if I install graphene on my phone, but still have a google account and use it on the phone such as google maps (which everyone uses). Does that compromise everything I'm trying to do with Graphene?
It does not. Google services are OPTIONAL on Graphene, and if you choose to install it, Graphene sandboxes it to protect other data on your phone. Google services is easily installed from the Graphene Apps App

Proton will be 100% safe and private if you don't have recovery mail.

Can I use it to access dark web to talk about secret stuff on forums?
I have been trying to get all of my contacts to switch to Signal for years. I have been unsuccessful due to the "If I'm not doing anything wrong who cares?" argument. I tried describing that is not the point by asking if the same people would object to the government having the ability to read every letter theyv'e ever sent?
Thoughts on Lokinet & Session, an outfit from Australia?
Was it the metadata what Snowden focused on? He was also speaking about people in government logging on to citizen's camera's and watching them undress......
He is IT guy.
They used cameras to drag attention of layman people to the problem. Any hacker can use camera to watch you having sex with your wife is he really intends to do so. Just put a tape over camera. And yes, people in government agencies also enjoy home porn.
The problem is your intellectual property can be stolen and other secrets. You may make a valuable invention and it can be stolen from your computer before you even register it.
Big data is also problem. One church used advertisement data to harass homosexuals. Imagine anti-Semites buying data on whereabouts of Jews. Yes, this advertisement company was selling usual location of the phone of homosexuals. It's not like you change your ways all that often. You typically visit the same places over and over again. It's really scary thing.
I don't even talk about selling your income status to advertisers. You can literally buy information about all high earners in your city. They target advertisement to particular income brackets. You would be soon unable to find a deal because system will know how much you earn. Even now there are algorithms that jack up prices on many things like housing, healthcare, meat... Most companies use this algorithms to find most lucrative price. And it raises prices for everybody. Now there are algorithms that will change price depending on how much they can price this time of the day. Wendy wanted to use it, but was stopped by public outrage.
Tor browser is very slow any tips how to fix that?

The concern for the ordinary citizen is if privileged access to private information is being used to the economic advantage of insiders. Generally, what would be considered corporate espionage. It is difficult to securely obtain a lot of this software.
It surely used by corporations. Even government is waking up to private sector using algorithms to raise prices for people on meat, rent...
There is also targeted groups. One church used big data to harass homosexuals.
Raspberri Pi thats will be my only next Daily Driver Pc..
This guy loves a good walking transition.
Meta data is sensitive information if it is going to have real implications, such as: if it will be used to make incomplete, partial, and conditional deduction, which will be wrongfully used as complete proof by ignoring the doubt, that you are implicated in something, or, if the meta data will be used to wrongfully harm your person or your rights through unjustified actions. However, the emphasis in both cases is that there is another systemic or individual wrongdoing against you from which you should have been protected already, by law and by Constitution. Of course, it is better if you had both protections, but my point is that the ways in which metadata is abused is the wider problem, and metadata privacy is only a feeble cover which is being lost in the next, smaller step.
Pixel device and grapheneOS. Do you really think google would be allowed to bring a phone on the market without a hardware backdoor?
Allowed? I'm pretty sure it's voluntary at this point. 😢
Don't be Google
Where's your evidence (if any) for 'backdoor'?
@vthomas375 I believe it was in the news in 2009 or 2010. There were huge reports from major outlets. A dude is literally trapped in Russia because of revealing this kind of stuff. There was the entire fallout over apple putting these backdoors in. They are two completely different use cases.
Nethunter is just fr pentesting that's it not a everyday driver os.
@@IlIlIIlIlIlIlIlIl I was curious if you can still use the SIM for calls?
Difference between those 2 Systems (Custom ROM) is that :
1) Graphene OS is an hardened Android ROM using encrypted memory space thanks to the hardenmalloc libraries, but drawback is it was designed by Google guys and made for Google Pixel smartphones, so also include backdoor for remote access
2) Nethunter is the portable version of Kali, but mostly for ARM CPU on almost Android smartphone
