Going to Matthew Knowles was a big mistake. He doesn't believe dark skin women can be superstars. His track record speaks for itself. There are multiple accusations of him sidelining his darker clientele. But honestly, he probably wasn't the only one in her life disregarding her talent due to skin tone. Colorism is a major demon that needs to be vanquished.
The saddest thing about the impact of colorism in the industry is that is the BLACK MALE gatekeepers at the helm of this toxicity

I can relate to Tweet, I was dating a church guy and he ended up cheating on me and said that the reason why he cheated because he didn't like the fact I decided to switch to my natural hair and cut off my relaxed hair. Southern Hummingbird is an album that always stick out to me as it is such a masterpiece. It was an album my sisters always played and soon purchased myself, as it got me through the sad times when I was bullied at school.

I wholeheartedly agree with tweet about church/religion. Yes I believe in God, but No, I do not subscribe to Religion or Church. I just don’t trust no religion that was forced upon my ancestors by the very people that Hate them. You can have a personal relationship with God without the Middle Man.

I jokingly say this to my man too . it true but a sad fact . my mother stayed giving tithes and. Offerings. And when she needed help they denied her. After being a memeber for 15 years....some black churches are not for the uplifting of the black community. Probably because helping the black community in that way would take away from whole dynamic of the way some church's run...based off of fear an lack.

When I was a senior in high school I decided to take my religion seriously, I hated the churches I went to growing up because all they talked about was money and "how kids are nowadays". I even considered being Seven Day Adventist because when I go to their churches it's truly about bettering yourself and helping those AROUND you. Explain to me why a pastor has a helicopter but there are people in the church behind on bills? I went to a church that would literally call out those who gave out big tithes! ew. I went to a church where it seemed to be more of a competition for clothes & singing. Some of these folks worship their pastor more than God, it's important to remember his word is in the book not in the mouths of his creations.
