To me skin bleaching is kind of mental health but more so of a self-esteem issue. A common theme I've noticed in this docu-series is that a lot of the artists in the 2000's were in the middle or about to be at the height of their careers, but then were caught up in a record label merger, or their record labels really dropped the ball. I tried to look into what these mergers were but couldn't find anything. Can anyone explain what happened to the record labels at the time and why they were selling out and/or just not taking care of their artists anymore?
Not sure but it seems like digital music streaming happened and a lot of companies didn't know how to properly adjust and that's what killed many artist careers.
That and probably the Def Jam effect: new bosses not only merged record labels, but they also merged promotion teams and execution. So, not only were different labels merging (I think J Records, RCA, and Jive merged), they only took care of new acts and not the veterans, AND everyone had the same promo style. Like come on, you can't give LL Cool J and Brandy (just an example) the same promo style? They have different demographics

Missy Elliott is a guardian angel to a plethora of people, especially to our youth. In fact, so many artists have no clue how many lives they have positively affected, right down to saving lives. I know, for myself, a good song always brightens my day and a good Christian song always lifts my spirits. That's why GOD tells us to use our Gifts/Talents to serve others, for serving others serves Him.
