    It's nice how you explain most things like you've had to explain it many times and filtered the content so that it is full of everything necessary and nothing that isn't. Thank you

    As a machinist in a former and performing similar Operations this is a solid and very strong method.
    Very impressed, Thanks for taking the time to show.

    Love this one. I have changed to graphite shafts also since getting little more aches and pains. Using 48g shafts in SR ( stiff/regular flex ).

    One thing I would say if you carry your bag do Not have graphite shafts.
    I done this for 5 months over winter and the amount of Rub wear on the shafts make them look terrible
    Where as irons look amazing all the time they don’t get any rub marks.
    In summer in a cart bag on trolley the graphite ones are great

    great video. where did the ferrules come from? they look good on these clubs. its been years since i worked on callaway bore-thru's. what i observed is that callaway sorta cheated around the swingweight scale. the heads where lighter than most head and the grips where lighter as well. lightening the overall club, but maintaining the designed swingweight range.

    When I re-shafted my B21 irons, there was a shoulder in the bottom of the hosel, so no way for the shafts to come out through the bore. If I understood correctly after talking to Billy Bob's, I inserted the pins into the hosel first, then installed the shafts. Not sure if that was correct but they turned out alright for a first timer DIYer. Those recoil dart shafts I installed are stout.

    Jim I’m not convinced that cutting lateral slots in end of a graphite shafts is a sound idea. You have actually weakened the tip of the shaft. with steel the slotted tips will bend without cracking, Carbon fibres with crack. I would have bored out the heads personally. Mike.

      Mike I was on that path too until I saw it done by the OEM. Without support certainly its weaker, Steel is weaker too. However when supported with the epoxy AND the tip pin its a pretty solid set up. No failures to date doing it this way.

    Those grips looked like mcc plus 4 which are heavy, when I have changed from a standard tour velvet I have really noticed the difference in swing weight which would explain your observation

    I had my steel iron TT 105's shafts replaced with graphite Aerotech i95's. One club has a very hollow sound on most hits, even center of clubface strikes. Have you heard of this and any idea why and how to fix? Thx Carl. Great stuff on ur page.

    Awesome content Jim. Your experience is second to none. Question: Why did those OEM choose to do bore throughs? Great job

      @McGolf  2 года назад

      At the time callaway was known for golf equipment for the average golfer. The bore gave a bit more kick to the swing helping the golfer.

    If you tip trim the shaft, then part of that shaft gets poked out the bottom of the bore-through and gets cut off, doesn’t that change the way the shaft works compared to putting the same tip-trimmed shaft is a conventional hosel where the entire tip is left intact…?

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  2 года назад +1

      The bottom of shaft is just above the bore thru the back portion of the shaft is removed so it is about the same thing. However in some cases we need to look to see how much shaft is getting grabbed.

    How do you know what replacement shafts you need? I know you said something about specs but I can't easily find any on my heads.

    I want to put graphite shafts in a set of s2h2 irons I have, are the irons in this video similar and does that mean the ferrules would be the same, having trouble finding ferrules???

    I would be interested to know what you thought about the Takomo iron set you built because they were left-handed and I'm wondering if you tried them. I am a left-handed Mac myself. Although I do play golf right-handed

      They are ok, I don’t think they are world beaters but assembled with a proper shaft they certainly a great bang for the buck

    Hi Jim - Did you spine and FLO the shafts before slitting the tips? It sounds like you did.

    How do you determine 1 1/2 over standard length of an x-20 graphite shaft. For example I need a shaft for a 9 iron club head. What should be the length of the shaft.

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  Год назад

      The spec of the club is found on the internet typically a 9 is std at 36” the add length would make it 37.5
