Simply amazing. I'm by no means an emotional person in general but this moved me in a way that's hard to describe. The amount of passion and dedication you have is undeniable. Thank you, Gabe, for the time, the effort, the knowledge you choose to share with so many. This video has pushed me to become an even better fish keeper, in what can sometimes be a very frustrating hobby. Jack knew exactly what he was doing when he asked you to join him. Keep on keeping on Gabe!!!
Gabe, what an amazing story. Your love for this hobby, these people and these fish radiates from you in everything that you do. Thank you so much for sharing. I love your videos and this was honestly my favorite
Thank you so much for the videos you have shared on you tube. They are so much help to me being new to the discus hobby I have called you many times and i appreciate you answering my questions. Thank You so much for your support.
Hi Greg, I couldn’t have said it better myself. As I watched Mr. Babe’s touching and sincere video, I was wondering how I could express my feelings for his honesty and love not just for his beautiful fish but his listeners as well. Thank you Mr. Gabe for a touching video. By the way, I love all your videos and I was wondering why I hadn’t seen you on RUclips. A great big welcome back from all your fish families. I’m from Edmonton Alberta, and wouldn’t miss one episode. And yes, I even watch the older videos over and over knowing I’m sure there’s something I will glean from your knowledge and experiences. ( Pat’s my hubby ) this little message is from his wife, Cathy. 🐟🐟🐟🐟
I was first introduced to Jack Wattley’s Discus, in a Tropical fish magazine. It leaves an impression on you when you see a turquoise discus for the first time. In those days, having an aquarium, usually meant getting a goldfish or mollies or some angelfish. If it was swimming and eye-catching, you bought it. Information was very difficult and so I always had my books. Discus for the Perfectionist, along with Dr. Axelrod's Atlas of Freshwater Aquarium Fishes was my foundation to the hobby. After many years of being envious and trying to obtain information on discus fish, I finally researched and obtained the source of these fish, and called Jack Wattley , unaware that he would be the one who actually answered the phone! I was totally surprised, shocked that such a busy and well achieved man answered his phone. I learned a wealth of information about Jack and his dedication to the hobby and his followers. That’s how I became transformed into meeting Gabe with a phone call as well, and thanks to his hard work and dedication to this hobby- we can all enjoy having great success! These people are absolutely amazing, honest and still help more than ever with this hobby. You can actually feel the love! I’ve called several times over the years, literally years and they always answer my questions. I’m blown away by the RUclips videos! There’s only one Jack Wattley And Gabe has certainly been our saving grace🙏. Unbelievable story tears came to my eyes.
If I remember correctly, back then there way few different tropical fish magazines. And again, I don’t remember which one but I believe that an article from Jack Wattley would appear on a monthly basis. And you’re most certainly right, that was the time prior to the internet or cell phones. We aquarium hobbyists of that time period learned from reading, research and trial and error.
I enjoy watching your videos. So full of information, I'm always learning from them. Gabe Posada thank you for having the humility and patience that many lack.
Good Lord, Gabe!! You made me cry!! I can only imagine the excitement you felt meeting Jack that first time! I have always loved discus, but thought I would never be able to have them in my home. Two months ago there was a guy moving and was selling his fish. He had 3 discus, several cardinals and 2 plecos. Several months earlier I had bought anothers guy's fish tank and fish. It was a 125 and I thought I was in heaven. One of his fish had died in it and it was very dirty. I cleaned and nuked the tank a few times until a few guppy could survive. By the time the discus fella came along, the tank was cycled and ready. He chose me for the fish!! I have gotten one more since that was the same size as one of his. So far they are doing awesome and I am thrilled!!
Dear Gabe, Your fairy tale really touched me, and tears filled my eyes as I saw the emotion on your face. I truly admire you and the journey you've taken. If I had been there, I would've come over and kissed that holy ground too. I'm just starting out in this hobby, I'm an Iranian teacher working in Turkey. I've recently begun my own journey with discus fish, known to be quite challenging, but I'm fascinated and obsessed with them. Before getting my discus, I did tons of research. I got filters to use RO water and then grabbed mechanical and biological filters for the tank. But even with all that, I still run into problems and make mistakes. I know I'm nowhere near where you're at, but all I can do is watch your videos, learn from them, and basically copy your every move. You're my trusted mentor for taking care of my discus!Thank you for your valuable and free trainings." ❤
An amazing story! ive been keeping fresh water / salt on and off for about 8 years but stopped for about 3 years. Ive always had the dream to keep large tank with discus being a focal point. this year ive come back into the hobby raising my fish in a 55 gallon getting them ready for their big 120+ tank. keep up the good work ill be ordering some from you guys
❤😊You talk about your father and Jack with so much love in your heart. It's wonderful that you haven't forgotten who accompanied you with passion on your way. I myself have had the dream of having these discus fish for 30 years, but I never had the time to take some to please you. Due to illness, I was forced into a wheelchair and as a result I am no longer employed. I now have the time to devote myself to the fish and have taken some. With your help, I managed to have a pair of babies swim by your side. It is a great experience to watch them with the babies. Thanks to you and your help. My dream would be to be able to see you and your discus fish in person one day. This video reflects the passion you have for discus in your videos. Very touching video from you. Many thanks for that from Germany 😊
What a beautiful and magical story of two liked minded lovers of discus coming together. I’d love to have some Jack Wattley discus but I can’t afford the shipping. Maybe one day I’ll be able to fill my 125 gallon tank up with them.
Wow, what a heart felt story of your passion, hard work and journey to the most sought out fresh water fish Discus. Paying tribute to the God Father of Discus to the one and only Mr. Jack Wattley. Thank you very much for carrying the torch and to contribute to the community of Discus fish lovers. You are a saint to help us with your vast knowledge to care, feed, medicate and to utilize the advance of technology to make our life as Discus hobbyists much simpler and enjoyable with much less stress. I have a 180 gallon tank that I had used in the past for Silver, Jardini and Golden Asian Arowanas which has been sitting in my garage for over 2 decades. This video may just inspire me to ignite that flame of passion for the most colourful freshwater fish which has the closest resemblance to vibrant colours of salt water fish. At the age of 54 as we are empty nesters now I was contemplating on buying a puppy however upon watching your video of your journey to Jack Wattley's I might have been transformed back to being a Discus lover again. Thank you very much for your awesome videos which takes a lot of time to set up with proper lighting to film, staff to record and much time to edit these videos to present them tastefully. I truly honour your videos on educating us Discus/Fish Hobbyist-thank you again my friend for sharing your journey to Jack Wattley's!🙏 William
I love that you share your knowledge, your experience, and your passion for your craft. You have done so much for the hobby and even more for the fame of Symphysodon, the fish that is discus. Thank you for sharing your amazing videos and this amazing story. Your humility and appreciation for your late partner, Jack Wattley, is astounding. I am so happy to know that you and your team are out there doing what you're doing. God Bless.
Beautiful video Gabe ❤. I'm just a private Discus hobbyist in Australia who has been following your channel for a few years. I've had so much inspiration and learnt so much from your videos. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing the beautiful story in life. I look so foward to coming place purchasing my future discus from chicago. You have so much heart fot these fish and your true friend Jack Wattley. God bless his soul. Thank you again!! Ernie C.
Watching this video 1 year later. Man, I gotta tell you, I am beyond moved by your sincerity and genuine love for discus. I share the love for discus with you and so many others. It was so refreshing to watch this. Thanks for your dedication and continued service in this amazing hobby.
I'm a student on the UFRPE fisheries engineering course - Brazil. And I loved the discs as soon as I saw them, I want to dedicate my personal and professional life to these fish. I discovered this channel because of a colleague who already had a degree who started his small production, and he always talked about Jack and Dave (the one who had the desire inherited from Jack). Watching this video was very moving for me personally. Because part of the love for the animal is mainly making this hobby grow. Bringing more peace and happiness to people's homes.
Symphysodon look after their young like no other fish do, and you have made the care of these discus your ultimate passion. Gabe, you are cooler than the Fonz 👌
Really loved this video not only as a lifelong fish keeper who loves discus, but as someone who also knows the great value in doing what you love and the satisfaction of being able to turn your hobby into a successful career that you thoroughly enjoy. Really loved hearing your story! I remember seeing Jack Watley’s Discus in ads since I was a kid back in the 80’s & 90’s, and I’ve always dreamed of keeping discus (especially a Jack Watley discus), but after trying a couple times with discus from my LFS that didn’t live more than a week, I put that dream on ice until I could learn more about how to keep them happy, healthy, & thriving (and until I had the time to dedicate to them as well). Currently have about 6 tanks running in our house, all freshwater planted except for a new salt water reef tank, and I’d love to have a tank dedicated to Discus one day.
I have never seen such sincere testimony. I hope to come to America one day. I will definitely pay you a visit all the way from Trinidad and Tobago West Indies 🇹🇹🇹🇹
To be honest Gabe, that brought a tear to my eyes and choked me up. That you so much for sharing. I truly appreciate the dedication you and Jack had for discus. I'm 64 years old and remember Jacks article in Tropical Fish Hobbyist magazine were he smeared hard boiled egg yoke on the rim of white soup bowls for the fry. When he first shared his beef heart recipe I started making it and WOW what a difference it made for all my fish. For all the passion and dedication you and Jack put into the discus you have my utmost respect and love! Thank you so much!!!
This was absolutely beautiful and a great look in to Jack and yours legacy on discus. If it wasn’t for you and your team sharing all your information on breeding discus, I wouldn’t have found success. I am on my 3 rd batch of babies now. Just got passed another 30 day mark for fry. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I only watch the beautiful discus from the sideline. But I've followed them since the old National Geographic articles. Thank you for continuing the great discus mission!
My God this is awesome! I've read about this story years ago. I remember reading about Mr. Wattley when I was a 3rd grader. Now I'm 66 years old and a Wattley customer for a few years. To hear this from Gabe's mouth is an absolute pleasure. Thank you Gabe. Continue your journey Brother. Make people happy. :)
You guys are legends. I actually got into discus breeding successfully after listening to your advise . Now I am able breed any discus with the knowledge you have shared. I had been fed a lot of incorrect information till watching your video. Thank you Gabe and Thank you Mr Jack Wattley!!!
Love, love. love this video. Thank you Gabe, thank you! I used to read everything I could find about Jack Wattley's Discus in the 80s and 90s. I now live in New Zealand... and breed a lot of discus, thanks to you and Jack. (I am 62 years old as well) 🌹
Thanks Gabe for preserving Jack's legacy. Glad I bought Jack's book with his signature when it was still available decades ago. I'm 62 too and started my discus journey about the same time as you. Wishing you many more years living the life most of us can only just dream about. From Singapore.
Gabriel, God Bless! You are an inspiration not only to the Discuss people but to all of us who love tropical fish. I have learned so much from your videos, thank you and continuing success.
It’s an absolute incredibly emotional story, a life changing one, that Gabe, you had the courage to grasp with both hands when offered the dream of becoming Jack Wattleys parner, I’m full of emotion and at this moment speechless, you and Jack deserve all the credit and platitudes coming your way for sure. It’s an inspirational story for anyone watching this video who has a dream or just starting out with a goal in mind. 👍 Thank you for sharing. 🙏👏 🏴
It is holy ground, I've known about discus and Jack Watley since the early 80s. I was friends with a gentleman who mentored me back in the early days. And like you and Jack I think about him often and tell my wife, do you remember when we were first introduced, and she just smiles and says yes.
Great story. Meant to be as they say :) I am looking for a pair of Bright Yellow Discus and a pair of Snow White Discus. Its been difficult to find and get these in a healthy state here in NYC local shops. I may order them from your site instead. Thanks for sharing.
Huge embrace!!!! History has it was of coming back to our present day. And for you what a way to keep Jack Wattley alive in the heart and in the heart of the hobby!!! A true pioneer who passed his torch!!! Sound like he heard something distinguished in that initial phone call, going onto seeing something special perhaps unique in you!!! Keep doing what you do best. Enjoy and support you Good Sir Gabriel Posada aka Mr.Discus!!!

Every time we watch one of your videos we increase our education in this field. The ones who are lucky enough to know you can attest that you are what you’re portraing in your videos. Don’t ever stop! Eduardo & Maggie
Hi Gabriel, Cathy from Edmonton Alberta Canada, we were speaking on the phone. I just wanted to send a small note to say that we got disconnected, I didn’t hang up on you. We just had a bad connection. Thank you so much for your time and your suggestions. I wasn’t able to hear everything but I did hear turn it up to 90 and black worms., I appreciate it.
Long distance calls were expensive 60-90’s as young people use to free cell long distance. Info was difficult without the internet as only 10 plus year old books in libraries
Gabe, thanks for sharing. Mr Wattley absolutely knew you were the guy to continue his passion for discus. Thank you for (as well as running a business) always putting fish care first and helping us do the same. Long may that continue, and hello from the UK 🇬🇧 👋
Well, Gabe, I had heard your story prior a few years back. You 16:13 brought tears to my eyes. It’s obvious the love that you have for this hobby. I started watching your videos a few years ago and it’s truly amazing what you do I live in Florida now Sarasota area and I’m dying to come and visit, but for now I have to watch your videos. Blessings to you and your family and all that you do for us.🙏🏼🙏🏼

Hi Gab. You are so blessed and GOD put you and Jack together back then. Thanks for sharing that with us all. Doing what you love is just having fun every day. My dad wanted me to be an engineer. I followed in his foot steps and became an architect and building designer. I’m still having fun every day and I watch my discus while I’m doing it. I guess I too am blessed. Thanks and Praise be to the Most High and HIs Son Our Lord Jesus Christ. 😉
I'd kill to have any upbringing and a father as deep in the hobby as you are! I've been in the hobby for year and would love to work at a facility like yours!
Me alegra haberme topado con esta Meca de los peces disco, estoy en proyecto de poner un acuario para mis primeros peces discos y ojala lo lleve por buen camino, gracias
Your story is actually very touching and it also proves how someone's life can change and take a totally different direction almost overnight. Thank you for all the hard work, dedication and willingness to share, not only your learnt knowledge but your time and personal story. We thank you. I've followed you , here in the UK, for a good number of years and your knowledge has been very helpful in my own Discus Keeping . Thank you.
I wasn't gonna become a big time discus guy and here you go putting this video out..... very inspirational.

Gabriel, God Bless! You are an inspiration not only to the Discuss people but to all of us who love tropical fish. I have learned so much from your videos, thank you and continuing success.
Thank You
It’s an absolute incredibly emotional story, a life changing one, that Gabe, you had the courage to grasp with both hands when offered the dream of becoming Jack Wattleys parner, I’m full of emotion and at this moment speechless, you and Jack deserve all the credit and platitudes coming your way for sure.
It’s an inspirational story for anyone watching this video who has a dream or just starting out with a goal in mind. 👍
Thank you for sharing. 🙏👏 🏴
Wow, what a Story. Thank you.!!!
So sweet ((((((HUGS))))))))).
It’s like Gabe is talking to you directly, this is what really feels special. The honesty the loyalty and the love . Very amazing!!!!
Merci pour cette rétrospective, bien amicalement de France et happy New year

A true pioneer who passed his torch!!! Sound like he heard something distinguished in that initial phone call, going onto seeing something special perhaps unique in you!!! 🙏🏻
I'm so happy for you. I'm glad you get to live your dream. One of these days I will come see you.
I look forward to meeting you in person
Hi Gabriel, Cathy from Edmonton Alberta Canada, we were speaking on the phone. I just wanted to send a small note to say that we got disconnected, I didn’t hang up on you. We just had a bad connection. Thank you so much for your time and your suggestions. I wasn’t able to hear everything but I did hear turn it up to 90 and black worms., I appreciate it.
We love you so much thank you for all you do
Long distance calls were expensive 60-90’s as young people use to free cell long distance. Info was difficult without the internet as only 10 plus year old books in libraries
Shipping took weeks as no Amazon, USP or Fed Ex.
We love you to brother. Thanks for all you do.
Amazing story ❤
Thx for sharing!
much much appreciated love u for this ....
Congratulations on such a loving tribute to Jack Wattley and many many more years of success Keep up the great work.
What an awesome story. Can't wait to make a trip 1 day to witness this myself. #bucketlist
What can you say. This is a mind blowing video for hobbyists and non-hobbyists alike. It's about love, family, and a dream. What a legacy !!!
Blessings to you and your family and all that you do for us.🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you, looking forward to that visit. Amén
