Love your channel. Roy was the man. Hubble honest man
Need to do USAF MSgt. John Chapman first recorded MOH
Great American Hero!
You should react to Mexico’s Fuerzas Especiales
Love your channel and thank you for your service sir
He's a real old school man a true american . Thankyou for your service.
Beat Army
It’s sad that men like him are diminishing in the USA.
they are in the witness protection program
Don't doubt your population, the busy people aren't busy speaking on camera just yet
There are still plenty of heroes in our military, unfortunately they aren’t appreciated or as celebrated as they should be. We owe everything to our men & women in uniform who sacrifice everything for our freedom. 🇺🇸
We are not diminishing, we are just in silence, hidden from media. I promise you the flame of American spirit never dies it just dissipates into hot coals before it sparks up the next flame.
@@koltred your sense of wisdom is very astonishing, hope to keep it up in the future
"How does it feel to enjoy freedom at the expense of my buddy's life?"
Damn, that quote hits you hard.
And it truly hits home, and specially my home.
As a Latino and ex Army Airborne soldier, this guy here is a hero. De Oppresso Liber. RIP snake eater.
I hope this video brings light of this man to the Latino youth. aspire to be like him. strong, honest and no complaining. all youth honestly but people do related to their social groups.

I'm sure you'll be as much of an inspiration. Manners, respect and love from England my American bruva
I am proud to be a relative of roy. When I was in high School we had a big ceremony for roy. The city of Cuero Texas put up a statue of him in his memory!
He actually came to the Chicago police academy and my dad was teaching, long story short he met him and got a picture with him, a really great guy he said.
Roy spoke at my high-school. It was such an eye opening story to hear at that time. Completely changed me after hearing that story
I’m a proud USAF veteran (71-78). It was honor to serve. I have been in VA hospitals the men and women that you see there have gave there Youth for this Country.
This man made me cry, what a great man i salute him.
I was 12 years old when I met him. A bad ass Texan. His autobiography is unbelievable. A true American. GOD bless his family.
He jumped into a gun fight w a bowie knife, because an m16 would've given him too much advantage, takes out some VCs with it, takes an AK round to his leg and thinks its a thorn. Que chingon!!! What a bad ass!!!
Those Texicans are a different breed of American. Y’all looked out for us New Orleanians after Katrina. Respect.
Mom was a seamstress @ Ft. Sam and altered some of his uniforms for him while he was recovering from injuries and learning to walk again. She said he was always a gentleman and polite.
I met him in 1988 in Panama. He was touring the Gorgus Army medical center there where I was a patient being treated for a collapsed lung. He came in with civies on with the MOH around his neck. Great guy and human being. He was the Grand marshal for the 4th of july parade they had down there. He was a true bad ass and patriot. RIP Master Sergeant Roy P. Benavidez
My personal Hero! I did a paper on him while I was in, after learning about him he became my personal Hero! Being Mexican and Yaqui like him inspired me!
I'm Not An American But I've Got Tears In My Eyes , What A Great Hero
I remember seeing him tell his story on a youtube channel a couple years ago, these people truly are the greatest.
Gave me a chill when he said he was privileged to wear the green beret and put it on God rest your soul Msgt
I had the day off and I attended his memorial in San Antonio: while his casket was moved from the church into the hearse I saluted until the hatch was secure. I drove to the Ft S. Houston cemetery and observed the ceremony. I never met MSG Benavides but I had read enough to know he deserved my respect by placing my Army dress blues on...
This guy is a true legend! At Fort Bragg he is looked upon and venerated as a true badass and standard to live by.
Roy Benavidez was a superman. Thank you for your service. God bless you in heaven.
The man is a true hero. I'll never forget his name and what he did for this country.

Legend. This country would benefit greatly from following his lead.
Roy Benavidez is the real deal!!! American treasure🇺🇸
I got a GI Joe of him as a kid, I just read the story on the box again, honoring!
I am Proud to have Served for my country and carryon the Memories of those who also have served. I stand for Our Flag 🇺🇸 and Salute it. God Bless the USA and thank you for this great vedio of a gracious hero the MOH recipient
Master Sergeant, Sir, thank you for your service. R.I.P. Sir.
I’m not in the military, i wish i was and wish i was early in my life. I’m a naturalized citizen from Albania, in 🇺🇸 since 96 and would die for this great nation!
I have great regret about not serving, for a multitude of reasons, but I'm too old now. I should have followed in the footsteps of my father and grandfather.
Fellow Albanian
@@OuijaSTi
Nonsense! You're never too old to serve your fellow man, do it in your own community, volunteer at a shelter or food pantry, help your neighbor etc.
@@rustyshadow7 I do those things. I meant serve in the military sense.
Another service member is Guy Louis Gabaldon AKA “The pied piper of Saipan” he has an amazing story . As an American of Mexican decent I’ve told my nephews about individuals like Roy and Guy to try and shed some light on to our youth
Nicely done carnal. Kids need to learn more from this men instead of those dumb asses artists of today.
I will check on his name bro
God bless and RIP Mr. Benavidez. God bless all those who fought and died for this country. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🇺🇸
MSG ROY. YOU. ARE. THE. MAN!
This man is amazing. A true hero.
“Blessed be the peacemakers...” This man is a true living hero, inspiration, and role model. God Bless him and all of those who serve. Men and women like him, make me proud to be an American. God Bless America, and my Beloved American Flag. 🇺🇸✝️
My hometown hero from El Campo, TX. Great American and hero!
When he had the star spangled banner poem I got chills
This man is a true inspiration
A true hero
I remember reading about him while going through Fort Benning in '02 - I was so impressed and I just wanted to be half of the man/soldier/leader he was. He was also a big inspiration after my injury; I had hoped that I would make the recovery he did. It didn't happen, but I still kept him as an influence.
I went through in 2017. God bless. My Mexican drill sergeant smoked us till we knew his story.
I READ HIS BOOK. ROY GAVE HIS BOOK AND SIGNED IT TO MY FATHER. I WAS IN AWE OF THIS MAN.. I TOLD MY DADDY WOW DAD YOU GOT TO MEET THIS AWESOME MAN. I WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE
My salute, to him. Every day.
I met Msg Benavides when I was in the color guard (ROTC) he stopped and shook ever single highschool student....I still remember 30 years later like yesterday.i was too young to know who he really was.... I am honored to have met him for at least 5 min. Fort. Hood/ Fort Benavides
I'm a PROUD AMERICAN and proud to have served 22 years. I'm proud of my uncles who all served in Vietnam. They all died of cancer eventually, except one. I never heard any of them complain and they still encouraged me to join. I'm an American of Texas Mex decent and proud. I will never be ashamed to say it. It's a shame where we are heading.
Men like this are the reason why I respect my flag so much. Hes such an authentic American and I thank god for him and all of our vets. Rest in peace to one of the baddest dudes I have ever had the pleasure to know about.
R.I.P. Master Sergeant Benavidez! You are now with God and the saints, but your sacrifice will never be forgotten!
The man deserves a movie in his honor. I'm a 63 year old Air Force veteran. I served my country with pride and did my level best to give back to the country that gave so much to me. I served with men and women who were of black, white, hispanic, Native American, Puerto Rican, etc... backgrounds but we were ALL Americans first. This man is the epitome of the word HERO. God Bless The USA.
That struck with me, I was addict from age 16 to 23 before 24th birthday. I always believed drugs were taking energy happiness and joy from your future to give it to you today. and I hold that with me forever and this man much older and wiser repeated it for me. I know I'm in the right place and taking the right path. God bless you all thanks for this video.
God Is Good.
Even the Grim Reaper couldn't kill him. R.I.P. Sgt Benevidez
You mean the Grim Reaper like Mitch McConnell I would love for them to go toe-to-toe face-to-face benavidez wil kick his ass....
I am very proud to be an American. I served in the USAF from 92-00 as Security Police/Security Forces. I am proud of my service and I would do it again.
This great man was a huge influence on 2 little boys growing up in a gang infested area of East LA during the 80s. He introduced the word "duty" to us while reading about him and set us on our destiny to fight for the greater good. My brother came to the U.S. at 8yrs old, joined the Army right out of high school, did 15yrs while serving with the 82nd, 3/75th, and 1st Cav during all that time and earning 2 bronze stars and purple heart until he was KIA in Iraq. His dying wish was to be buried on the same grounds as our childhood hero, Master Sergeant Benavidez.....glad he got to end it with a smile and peace....❤🇺🇸
This dude was so far beyond herioc i dont think there is a word or term for how much of a badass he was
A true American Hero!
Benavidez is one of my heros and has been since I learned his story while I was serving back in 2008. His story is something I honestly believe all Americans should hear.
Our drill team was name after him. Since the 80s...what an honor to be part of that rotc team.
Roy you are the GREATEST!
Thank you sir I’m an Australian and we will always have the upmost respect for all American soldiers, sailors and airmen no matter the rank or recipient of ,we will never forget the sacrifices they made defending our country with us against the Japanese In WW2🇺🇸✊🇦🇺
Hell yeah Master Sarge! God bless America. 🇺🇸
Airborne! Very proud of that man, and you guys.
Occasionally while I'm traveling in my home state of Texas, I find myself passing through the small town of El Campo, which is in the coastal plains in the central region of the coast. El Campo is the hometown of Master Sergeant Benavidez and as I roll down the highway just on the outskirts lies the National Guard Armory that is named in his honor. I can't drive past that building without pulling over into the parking lot and taking a moment to pay homage to this great American, who sadly left us in November of 1998. I don't stay there long, but I pause in my journey to have a few good thoughts about him and when the tears start welling up in my eyes, I know it's time to go. They don't make 'em like him anymore…or do they? Ol' "Doc" (formerly of 2/8, 5/10, MARG 1-85, !st FSSGand 13th MEU [SOC] Command Staff) says, "Semper Fi!".
He's a Yaqui native, that tribe is from Sonora mexico and he has talked to many fellow tribesmen in the US during their gatherings. Rip to a fellow tribesmen
The many videos about him all get my same comment. I am proud to have even been in the same Army as he.
Additionally, we are all very lucky that he survived to share what he felt and learned. That he survived is nothing short of miraculous.
Its important to understand his actions in the events for which he was awarded the Medal of Honor. Everything he did was to save his fellow soldiers.
Just a humble, thank you.🇺🇸
He was half native American too.
today they would recruit him for BLM
@Elias l26l MSgt Raul Perez "Roy" Benavidez was the son of a Mexican farmer, Salvador Benavidez, and a Yaqui Indian mother, Teresa Perez.

They don’t make em like this anymore. Roy was a distant cousin of my Stepdad’s. My family is from Victoria Tx. Merely miles away from Cuero, and El Campo Tx. This man is a real life war hero! He went through Two near death experiences in combat, and Still came back from it! I always come back to his MOH ceremony, at least once a month. Truly inspiring his story is.
My wife got me the bedtime story book, written by him, and it’s signed! Straight savage and stelae soldier 🙏
Yes. I'm proud to be an American and proud to have men like this in our armed forces!
I have heard of this guy. Great respect for the Master Sergeant👍💪
I keep pictures of every veteran in my family hanging in my house (father, grandfathers, great-uncles, brother, nephew, etc.) It reminds me everyday of their sacrifice and what a privilege it is to wear the uniform. I am enjoying that honor myself....
There's something so compelling about seeing a figure like this of your own race and similar background. My parents were farmers from Mexico and I was the first in my family to go to college and join the military. I didn't grow up with many famous role models, hell the most famous I can think of was Cheech and Chong. Funny guys for sure, but hardly role models for a young man.
A lot of things drew me to the military but more than anything was how many Latinos who made fantastic careers for themselves in the military.
SF , MACVSOG and a F’n badass Texan .
One tough SOB ! God bless You Master SGt
I was listening to this guy a few months ago and I was like damn. We should all aspire to do better with the opportunity we have in America to bitch and complain about b.s. when we have so much.
It doesn't make me cry, it makes me proud.
A fellow Texan and a hero of mine...👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸RIP Sgt!🙏
A great reference that all should watch. This warrior is humble and you can tell he is kind, and a no BS doer who gets the right things done with no whining. He asks, "is it a sin to be patriotic?" (5:20) That the question is even asked should give us all pause. Makes clear how we have drifted.
Thanks for posting this video. Roy was a very good friend of mine here in El Campo, Texas and we spent many hours over the years talking, mainly him talking and me listening. I really miss him.
I saw one of those cartoon type videos about him, it peaked my interest so I looked into him more. This gentleman, this soldier of ALL soldiers was a very outstanding individual. If you watch the history on him you'll see he is where "at least I think" Hollywood got several of their ideas for some of their movie characters. He was the real life Rambo!!! Any absolute amazing soldier and an even more extraordinary man. Honestly it hurt my heart to see just how young he passed away and even more heartbreaking to have seen just how he passed.
His story is very inspiring 🇺🇸
At a social event when someone there figured out I served in Afghanistan, this lady or girl can’t remember her age walks up out of the blue and asks point blank, hey I heard you where in Afghanistan, did you help kill osama bin laden?
I said numbly, no
She walked away after saying oh,
A black feeling settled over me that evening that I still can’t describe but I’ll never forget that moment.
Another good one Jameson! Awesome Man, American, Patriot humble Green Beret Soldier. Keep em coming!
Please share this one. People need to hear this man in todays climate.
@@JamesonsTravels no doubt. His story along with that Black Veteran you did a video on recently, people could learn a ton of wisdom and humbleness about life too.
@@JamesonsTravels Amen brother!
To this day this man is one of my favorite role models, when I first discovered his story I was in awe.
I learned about him in the book "Legend" by Eric Blehm. He's as badass as it gets. If you ever look up hero or badass online he should be at the top of the list!
I'm damn proud to be American.
Hell yeah I'm proud to be an American!!
I'm proud of being an American every day and thank you for sharing this.
I love this speech. Like you said, no lies or teleprompter. Anytime it pops up, I watch it as a proud veteran.
Rest in peace, MSG Benavidez. You were what this country is all about. I hope we can all take a page from his book and at least take a moment to appreciate the liberties we have as Americans, and to be reverent of the sacrifices made by the men and women in uniform in order to preserve our freedoms. God bless the USA.
A real American hero Thats all need be said!!!
He's the "Pride of Texas"
Roy is my Military Hero.
Much respect from Canada , I'm in B.C., Canada, I love and respect our brothers in the USA , past & present, and Roy, absolute legend , lest we forget these guys, and all the others including yourself Jameson, thank you for your Service like i say to my fellow Canadians in the Military,

He’s got the 1/17 inf crest around his neck in the old photo. I was with that unit in Afghanistan 09-10
God Bless this warrior , I mean they just don't make them like this . A true rock of a man .
He's very cool, with lots of stories throughout his life i'm sure, down to earth kinda guy.

I remember my first trip to the va. It’s burned into my mind. Yes I served, but I can’t help but feel like I could have done more.
