Hope that all the kinks get ironed out and that the rest of harvest goes smoother. With all the truck trouble today, I'm sure having your Combine running time made it a more enjoyable time.
The cab seems even quieter than the 670, which could just be an age thing. The tech is obviously a lot nicer, but the new hydrostat handle is incredible. It perfectly forms to your hand with all of the buttons in a good location. The 780 seems to be able 25-30% more combine than the 670, especially in beans. Overall, I think it is awesome!
It sounds like you need to junk that truck after this season. Nothing is more aggravating on a farm than equipment that doesn’t work when you need it. Time for something that works.
That truck has been junk since we bought it. A real nightmare to deal with. The fact that it needed a major engine repair within the 1st hour of usage for us is really a sad deal. We bought the a “purchase” warranty for the first 90 days, and the company tried to say that it was a pre-existing condition. When we named the dealership and the insurance in a lawsuit, I think they changed their time pretty quickly!
@@aTrippyFarmer I use to work at a truck shop. Out of the box solutions to get a truck home was always cheaper than calling the hook man. The screw works on fuels tanks too.
@@redbovine anything you can do to avoid the tow truck is usually the best thing for your wallet! Some days I’d like to just drop a match in the fuel tank 🤣
Jb weld is better than duct tape, add some Flexseal and you're in business! Add it to the trans fluid, Might help your transmission... couldn't get much worse.. haha
Andy, it’s like my Dad said. “If it’s got tracks, tires or boobs, you’re gonna have trouble with it!” On top of that, the truck is a 13 letter poop spreader,,, that puts it into a category of its own! (I kept it PG’ish as I could)
I am sure that you could marginally improve the throughput and slightly increase the average throughout. Overall, though, I don’t think there is a lot to be gained. I think it is in the cards for the future, just not yet!
As long as the combine is processing the grain without added crop loss, it isn't an issue. I ended up settling at around 7mph because it was the best all-around speed.
We do not have the camera. Personally, I think it is unnecessary, especially for loading grain carts. It can never hurt to have it, though. I really like the added vertical height of these newer unloading augers. It has to sit 2-3’ higher at the spout than our 670, which is incredibly nice on uneven terrains
@@aTrippyFarmer Random but in a video a few weeks ago you did a walkthrough of a barn and pointed out an Oliver side panel. There is a super 88 & a 77 for sale on Facebook, in New Berlin the other side of Springfield. Both look in good condition, and seller claims they both run strong.
The only two leases that we sign are not privy to me. The rest is owned. I am a fan of the 3 year lease with some sort of market-based bonus for the landowner. It is fair to both parties.
@@aTrippyFarmer Yeah,Fendt also does, according to Mike Mitchell's personal experience, plug the chopper behind on daily basis,so it's not really Ideal :D
My ancestors used to own a very large quantity of ground on both sides of that road ages ago. Because of that, they named the road Dole Rd. Over a few generations, that farm ground has separated to different families, but most of it is no longer owned by any blood relations. We farm 1 field on Dole Rd, right north of Route 16. Our main farm is on the next road to the west and all of the way south!
Little display showing what gear trans is in and arrows down means input shaft speed is too fast. I didn't see clutch pedal like early trucks had. Trans computer/controller having a problem slowing input down. Other please don't call it automatic its really automated trans still has gears, sliding clutches just like manual trans. People hear or read others calling it automatic they think it will shift like there car does. We had one driver twice a month for 7 months came in while truck was still under warranty. It doesn't shift like my car does there is something wrong with it. We changed settings either it shift way to slow or way to fast. She could never get it through her head its not automatic will never drive like a car. Even Eaton rep got involved telling her the same thing. Then went to facebook on how stupid we are don't know what we are doing bunch people jump and agreeing with her LOL. Some of early trans could be changed to manual but I have no idea what trans model truck has. Gen 1 could be changed, Gen 2, DM2, DM3 and newer no they changed trans case and top plate. Changing truck to manual not too bad to do putting in manual is easy. But electric side removing relays that control starter or jump them and changing settings in engine ECM settings. I've done it few times at work on farmers trucks (peterbilts)
It is an automatic manual transmission, so it is technically automatic. I know the difference, but calling it a manual would be a disservice to what it is. You are right--no clutch for the driver. I really appreciate the feedback on the problem. I have noticed that cycling the key has a good chance of fixing the problem for one shift cycle, so it would seem to be electronic. I believe this truck may have been tuned by the previous owner. It has always shifted in a much more aggressive pattern than our other AMT. It is a good truck when it will run properly. Thanks for the comment!
In the description above,.....it says that Katie is Andy's sister. Would be nice if Andy could show more video of everyone, and say who they are. I like that about the Ivers Farm videos. He usually has the name pop up as people come up in video.
Your enthusiasm about farming is very noticeable!!
Thank you, Robert!

Yes! Running the combine was the highlight of my day. Thanks for watching!
Nice to see you got some seat time in the 780. What’s your first impressions compared to the 670 and 9670?

soldering iron on those plastic tanks is a quick fix almost every time.... just an FYI for next time
That is a great idea. I think a soldering iron has a lot of neat uses. Thanks!!

Definatly feel for ya Andy! Trucks with automatic transmissions and Tate & Wait Coles Station are both always trouble.
That is just the way harvest season goes. I would be more concerned if everything was running great!
Sheet metal screw with a piece of inner tube material fashioned into a makeshift washer with a little sealant added might work for a hole like that.
That's a great tip. Thank you!!
the more family the better in the video
enjoyed
I will do my best, Ralph, but they usually aren't too interested in being on camera.
For a pinhole use JB weld on a self tapping sheet metal screw. That usually works better than epoxy alone.
That's a great idea. Sometimes you have to face a problem once so you know how to respond next time. Thanks!

At this point, the transmission needs some diesel fuel and a match!

Now that you have merch I expect Ron Hartung to be sporting some! Hows that song go If It weren't for Bad Luck?
I have advertised his channel quite a bit... you are right--I am pretty "lucky."
Sounds like your shift selector switch module is going out. One day it’s going to leave you along the side of the road in a really bad mood
I appreciate the feedback. I have had these transmissions require a tow, which is frustrating. Thanks!
Yeah…good ol’ 780. Modern day Smooth Criminals.
I am impressed, but it is also our first combine of this size. I am not sure that we will even be able to use the 2nd combine in corn!
Another good video, thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love your content! Definitely an inspiration for how I want mine to look
Awesome! Thank you. Good luck with your channel!
Took corn out last weekThis week. Yield not very good 110 but all those ground just got Terrace last two years.
New terraces definitely hurt yield, just gotta give them a few years. Glad to hear you're harvesting!
We.have auto trans on two trucks and must be lucky because they work just fine.
When they do work, they are great! It is nice not having to shift, but it stinks when they are broke down. Count your blessings!
I wonder how much corn you blew out of the back end of the combine.
That was gonna be my question too. The speed was too high and I am sure there was loss out the back.
It was once I got over 8mph. I should've sped the rotor up and it would've been fine. Thanks for the comment!
Good video love it
Glad you enjoyed!!!
They can do that with a 12 row head and more.

Did you think of flex seal for the coolant tank? ✌🏻
If it can make a screen door float, it can fix a semi!
I wonder about your father`s reaction to that fast cruising through the corn...

That is impressive. You do not see many Fendt's in Illinois. It is mostly John Deere, Case, and a few Claas Combines!

you guys should invest in a new semi.. or 3...
We could use about 6. Seems like every truck needs a backup!
I‘m wrong to say your grain cart looks a Little Bit to small? :D
